For the discussion of the upcoming Godzilla film by Legendary Pictures.

If they plan to make this reboot a franchise, than Mecha-Godzilla just doesn't work for the first film. It's a bit too much to process in a film that's sort of already reintroducing you to the Godzilla mythos.

I agree with the statement above by ''Gorosaurus Rex'' If there reintroducing Godzilla for the first time to U.S. shores, then they would know nothing of Godzilla or have the technology an advanced weapon's to make Mecha-Godzilla the mechanical terror he is supposed to be... Unless they go the Alien route but they've pretty much suggested or hinted that's not the case with this film.

Godzilla, Rodan, an King Ghidorah would be my personal favorite choices. Though i wouldn't mind Anguirus in place of Rodan either... But there is a perfect Origin for all.... Rodan being from prehistoric times, in a deep slumber buried under-ground. Godzilla with his nuclear terror background an King Ghidorah being a space monster but lands on earth within a meteor which the impact is what causes tremors, earthquakes, an volcanic eruptions which is what awaken's the other monsters.

Very similar to ''Ghidorah The three headed monster'' in terms of story, almost the same actually. But i think it's an easy way to give all monster's there share of screen-time an most of the general audiences are unfamiliar with GTTHM

Or you could do it like KoM where they build him in one month but that's just silly.

And if they decide to include Mecha Godzilla in a sequel, i hope it's Kiryu.. Aliens could end up being really cheesy if they do it wrong.

Would be really epic if that terrorist group stole Kiryu..

If MG shows up in the LP film (which I'm sure he wont) it will most likely be a brand new version of the character with a brand new design.

I know, i know..

I mean like as far as the character goes. Would be cool to see the military build it to fight Godzilla. Against Mechagodzilla and Tokyo SOS are my favourite Godzilla movies.

The only way I see mechaG be used in this film is if it's opening scenes are set in the 50's with Godzilla attacking so remote base and then disappearing. Then mechag would be some deep black project of area 51 just waiting for his reappearance.

Not the first one, although if he is I sure won't complain. I honestly cannot get enough Mechagodzilla movies. They are all freaking awesome.

I would hope they build towards an epic Mechagodzilla confrontation later. To me, MG is to Godzilla as The Joker is to Batman. We could use a big time setup movie before going that far.

It's not as far fetched as it seems with Pacific Rim coming out next year. I hope Legendary asked both creative teams to leave the door open for a possible crossover film in the future. I would love to see an alien return to Mechagodzilla's roots as well. Man, I get chills thinking about how epic it would be. The Jaegers and Godzilla tag teaming up to save the Earth. I don't care how cheesy that sounds, it would rock hard.

Never attempted to venture through this thread because I feel the topic is pointless. But I dont think they should revive Mecha Godzilla for this series. Leave all the heavy sci fi out. The only Godzilla that should exist is Godzilla. No Mech versions.

Save him for a sequel. And make him an alien war machine.

Mecha-G should not be used in the reboot. It would be todeve similar to the Pacific Rim storyline. If this movie is set in the 50's, I would be totally ok with the sequel having advanced technology developed at Area 51 ie. and set in the present day.
Just don't have robots.

How? Both stories are pretty much different and Mecha-Godzilla was used first before pacific rim idea was thought of. :?

Why do I have a feeling if we end up with a trilogy it's gonna be first film has a monster with smiler origins to Godzilla, second film King Ghidorah descends from the heavens and third film Mechagodzilla is created by humans BUT through reversed engineered alien tech that was discovered/recovered from a crash site?

Because that might likely be the case, or you could switch the second and third ones around and have mechgodzilla just be engineered by regular human means? Idk and then have King Ghidorah be the one bady that closes out the trilogy

Most trilogies come full circle. Look at Gamera 3 or Dark Knight Rises. But I think if they use Mechagodzilla they shouldn't go the alien route. I think just having Godzilla DNA that doesn't mesh well with the robotics is enough.
