I think a trio of an Oni, Shisa and Oriental Dragon would make for an interesting group of monsters working together. That's basically my reasoning behind it.

Works for me. I feel like we might've drifted away from the topic a little bit. In the good way.

Real talk: GKCG (Godzilla, King Caesar, Gabara) would have been cooler than GAV (Godzilla, Anguius, Varan). That said, it was nice to see Baragon come back.

Yeah it was nice to see Baragon come back in GMK. Although I would've loved to see GAV, a GGK movie would've made more sense and it'd would've been an interesting way to bring King Caesar and Gabara back.

From my understanding, the Showa, Heisei and the Shinsei are 3 separate continuities. The Showa films did follow a set continuity. The notable exception would be Destroy All Monsters; it's time period being set at 1999, 27 years after the events of Godzilla vs. Gigan...despite the fact DAM being filmed roughly 5 years before GvG. But, for all intents and purposes, DAM is still in the Showa continuity.
The Heisei was supposed to be a reboot of the Godzilla franchise altogether; Godzilla 1985 was intended to be a sequel to the original Godzilla. Each subsequent Heisei film followed the same continuity established in Godzilla 1985. One shred of proof for this being the growing up of Godzilla Jr., and the development of the first G-Force mechas following the template of Mecha King Ghidorah.
The Shinsei, on the other hand, each and every film in the Shinsei series was supposed to be a direct sequel to the original Godzilla; each one having no connection to the preceding movie; the notable exceptions being Godzilla x MechaGodzilla and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., those 2 followed their own continuity, again following the events of the original Godzilla.

Not really. They all star the same Godzilla, and you can link up several of the movies. But I wouldn't say the series follows a "set continuity".

The Shinsei, on the other hand, each and every film in the Shinsei series was supposed to be a direct sequel to the original Godzilla

That's not exactly true. They all use the basics of the original film as a jumping-off point, but I wouldn't say they're direct sequels, especially since GxM and GxMG change the ending of the original film.

When I watch a film, I try to enjoy the monsters breaking things. Continuity with other movies is the least of my concerns.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

That the specific continuity I was referring to. They are not following the human storyline, which is different in every Showa movie. The events of the kaiju battles has an semi-direct consequence which leads into the next movie; for example: Godzilla in GRA being trapped in a glacier...for Godzilla to appear again from the glacier in KKvG, to be cast into the sea and wash up with the silt in Godzilla vs. Mothra. Maybe I used the 'set continuity' words out of context, but what you said was (again) the specific continuity I was referring to.

Okay, I take it back; they're INDIRECT sequels to the original Godzilla. Again, I apologize for using words out of context, but what you said...
They all use the basics of the original film as a jumping-off point

...was exactly what I had intended to say in the first place.
