Leave it to Kitamura to end the film by confusing viewers with footage that's out of context.

Personally, I was never confused by those scenes. I simply wished some of them had been in the final version of the film.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Then I guess that means Hedorah's still alive and Manda is still fighting the Gotengo. No, I'm pretty sure that's just a deleted scene along with Hedorah attacking the city it wasn't put in the final cut of the film but rather than let that scene go to waste as it was obviously finished so they said hey let's put it in the end credits. There is also an extended scene for when Ozaki gets Cpt. Gordon out of his cell where he punches the guard and steals the key card then runs down the hall to the cell. In the actual film Mothra is on fire and flies into Gigan exploding obliterating both monsters Mothra sacrificed it's self. Would it really make sense for Mothra to have survived that and flown back to the island? No, but I'm sure even though that, that Mothra is dead there's probably an egg laying around somewhere.
He musta thought it was a gun!
I liked Giant Condor and Gabara before it was cool to just sayin.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Actually as the credits rolled at the end of Godzilla Final Wars, Mothra is seen flying back to the Island, so did she really die?
The world would be so much nicer if people only used guns on themselves.

You're not actually reading anything in any of these topics, are you?

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Peter said: We all know that back in Final Wars, Gigan set Mothra ablaze with his shotgun laser, then she charged into him causing an explosion that killed both of them in the process. But if we look back at Tokyo SOS, there was two Mothra Larvae. Their mother protected them by sacrificing herself in Godzilla's atomic breath. Both larvae survived, so only one of them had to be the Mothra in Final Wars, right? So my theory is that the Mothra legacy is still alive because of that one larvae that didn't appear after Tokyo S.O.S.
I agree.

DUN DUN DUNNN! Some people just don't get the message: The Millenium Series has no connection with the exception of one (Kiryu saga).Godzilla 1995 wrote:Godzillais#1 wrote:Peter said: We all know that back in Final Wars, Gigan set Mothra ablaze with his shotgun laser, then she charged into him causing an explosion that killed both of them in the process. Great theory, but there's only one problem with it: SOS isn't connected to GFW.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
It always bugs me when I meet people who watch the Godzilla films and believe that ALL the films are related.
In a perfect world that'll be great, but unfortunately that isn't the case....and I have to spend 20 minutes explaining that there are 3 different series, and that the films in the third series are not related to each other except for GxMG and Tokyo SOS, etc.

Look at it this way. Mothra has been and is a popular kaiju that's made money for Toho. That fact alone ensures that Mothra will always be alive in one form or another.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Of course Mothra is not dead. At the end of Rebirth 3 she transforms into "Eternal" Mothra. Eternal, for those who are paying attention, means Forever. Forever means does not end, thus Mothra is Imoortal and not dead.
As with Godzilla, there are multiple Mothras anyway. This is referenced in Rebirth 1 when the Elias state that DesGhidorah was first defeated in the past when there were "many Mothras" to fight it.
I guess we really just need to wait and see if Toho does anything with Mothra, then we'll know for sure.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Well, the REBIRTH OF MOTHRA films aren't canon with the Godzilla series, so keep that in mind.

Really?
I did not know that.
Although, I suppose it makes sense given that they do seem to have a completely different feel than the Godzilla movies, but, then again, each era has its own feel too.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
His point doesn't even make sense anyway. Since, one, GFW and the Rebirth Of Mothra films take place in entirely different universes, and two, even if they weren't, the Rebirth Of Mothra films happened before GFW. GFW takes place in 2004, at the very earliest.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
she really never stays dead. probably because she almost always has her larva hatch right when she diesI believe she is dead, at least in the Final Wars canon.
When and if Toho makes a new Godzilla film, it will reboot the series (except for the original). So they have an excuse to bring her back. Which they will. I do hope they don't continue JUST doing Mothra, Ghidorah etc.

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Only one Mothra is still alive, one of the larva's. Did we ever find out how long it takes for a Mothra larva to grow up? I haven't seen every Godzilla movie BTW, most of them though

Re: Is Mothra really dead?
Last time I checked things tend to stay dead after blowing themselves up. Unless of course dragonballs are around.
