It appears to be Godzilla up to bat, with Mechagodzilla serving as umpire.

That was the first thing that i though when i saw the image.
If Bowser can play Baseball then Godzilla can too (Unless he gets 3 Outs and burns the stadium down).

The Japanese started suing the kaiju over damage done to buildings during fights. To avoid future suits, the kaiju opted for another way to compete.

I've seen that picture before, but I don't know the origins. It could be a promotion photo.

Isn't it obvious? This is an in-game screenshot of Battle Baseball, a new crossover game similar to Battle Soccer. Of course, they've modded one of the MLB games in this image, since they haven't removed the human players yet or replaced the stadiums with monster locales.

It was a promo event for Godzilla against Mechagodzilla. Their was a Japanese player on the New York Yankees and his nickname was Godzilla. He makes a cameo in the film so this is probably something along the lines of him throwing a pitch to Godzilla or Godzilla and Kiryu doing a cute little half time show at one of his games in Japan to promote the movie.

Like Godzillian said, Godzilla and Kiryu made an appearance at a baseball game to promote GxMG. Toho's done similar publicity stunts for Godzilla over the years, and they're not alone in popping up at baseball games; Sadako threw out the furst pitch at the Tokyo Dome to publicize the RING sequel SADAKO 3D, and Snake Eyes did the same at an A's game this year to promote GI JOE: RETALIATION.
