Should there be a Mecha-Godzilla 4?

Postby FlamingZilla23 » Wed Oct 05, 2011 2:36 pm

Okay we all know that in all of the godzilla series there has been different reincarnations of mecha-godzilla. but what if toho goes back to doing the godzilla series and wants to have mecha-godzilla again?Would he be named something else like Mecha-Godzilla 3 being named Kiryu? I sorta have a mix feeling about this so i would like to hear your opinion.

Eventually, sure. Right away? No. The Heisei MG came nearly 20 years after Showa MG's last appearance and then Kiryu came along nearly a decade after that. Mechagodzilla should remain in hiatus for a good 20 years or so again so that he stays fresh rather than get repetitive.

Plus I wouldn't mind them getting a bit more innovative with a new MG, similar to one of the concepts they had for what would become Kiryu. Maybe not Mechagodzilla in name, but how about Biorobot Godzilla?

I'd like to see the whole "Fake" Godzilla angle played up again; such a shame it was only around the once. Hell, the Alien invader thing would be a pleasant treat.

Yes! I want to see an alien-controlled MG that first appears as Godzilla but eventually reveals itself to be a giant mech. It might seem too much like a direct remake of the 1974 film but I'd still love it. Showa MG is my favorite by far.

So far I think Kiryu has the best design, and I wouldn't mind seeing it return.
Do you think Kiryu's design would work for a villainous role?

If there is, I'll repeat what TV and Tohosaurus said and say that they should bring him back to his original concept. He sucks when he's controlled by the SDF.

Mechagodzilla is one of Toho's big money makers and a lot of people love him. I can bet money that if and when Toho starts making it's own films again we'll see a fourth incarnation of this Terminator-Godzilla.

There never was a Mechagodzilla 3 :P Though it would have been awesome to see one if the Showa series had continued.

In all seriousness though, if Toho ever decides to make Godzills movies again, MG will surely be back. That's a given.

The Black Hole Planet 3 Aliens have studied the Earth for years, sending spies to surveilince the planet and learn more about them. Knowing that they can destroy the humans from within, they must first however be able to somehow kill the King of Monsters, Godzilla, who is the only thing standing in their way of total conquest. Studying JSDF and UN datafiles of the creature, the Black Hole Aliens look through all the various attempts to slay Godzilla, and come to a conclusion:
The only thing to kill Godzilla is another Godzilla.
So what do they do? They locate the Monster King, secretly extract DNA, and create a clone out of it. Then they outfit it with their superiorly advanced weaponry, and voila!
Mechagodzilla is born.

I'm sick of Mechagodzilla and haven't liked any of the newer incarnations nearly as much as the Showa version. So, like Tohosaurus said, no, not for a good while at least.

I still get a kick out of how eagerly some fans have adopted the practice of referring to each era's Mechagodzilla by just slapping a number after the word "Mechagodzilla". Which of course, makes so damn sense because the '75 version already IS "Mechagodzilla II".

Anyway, we'll see another MG one day. Just hopefully not any time soon.

^It's easy and convenient. Not that big of a deal.

And yes, they should wait for a while to use him again. Whether they have a chance to or not is left unsaid, but it should be a while.

If the films contunue, then I can see another MG. MG works best as a villian, and so I'd want to see that again.

I don't think he has to be an alien to be evil. I'd like to see something like that done.

If Toho ever makes a new Godzilla series (Which won't be for a long time) then I'm pretty sure that there will be another Mecha-Godzilla. Rodan, Mothra, King Ghidorah and MG have been all three series. I would like to see a evil Mecha-Godzilla for once.

Personally I'd like Rodan to be Godzilla's badass equal again. The guy is hardly used more then once in anything post Showa. Give Mothra and Mechagodzilla a rest and bring on Rodan.

^^^ This, we haven't really seen Rodan as an equal to Godzilla since the Showa era... He needs to be brought back.

Leave Mothra an Mecha-Godzilla out for a while....As for a 4th installment of Mecha-G, not for a long long while.. He got burnt out in the 2000 era, An personally none of them have been as good as the Showa Mecha-Godzilla.

How about Godzilla and Rodan against a Mechagodzilla built by aliens? :D
