^ Oh me too. By a very, very wide margin. MEGALON is fun. G2K has put me to sleep on more than one occasion.

I am sorry, but I gotta say this. I mean no offense but...
The only way I was able to finish Godzilla vs Megalon, was because of the MST3k episode.
First time I watched it, couldn't finish it.
Found out about the MST3k episode, was able to finish it.

Too bad, I was driving around town with her anyways. She said the change in your pocket wasn't enough for her.

None taken dude. I've heard that it's very hard for some people to get through, especially if they didn't grow up watching it. Thing is, I've never actually met anyone that doesn't enjoy it in some capacity (which probably has more to do with my age than anything).

I'll just come out and say I do enjoy this movie as well as GxM.

But in no way do I see them as masterpieces, they are flawed but I'm able to look past that and enjoy them for what fun there worth. Pretty much there a guilty pleasure for me right there with Godzilla vs Spacegodzilla.

I would had enjoyed it more if Godzilla had more screen time and a more animalistic mannerism like in the Honda movies.

Watch the Honda movies, then. But hey, Godzilla in Gojira doesn't act like an animal, he's the A bomb itself.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

Question: what was the big deal about those CD's that Miyasaka took away from Shinoda?

That bit always confused me as well... I think it had something to do with the GPN having to share info with the CCI and Shinoda not wanting to.

I get the feeling that the American editing & dubbing is to blame for the confusion.

Pretty much yeah. I think the audio commentary explains it a bit.

Thats actually my 2nd favorite bit (behind the dude getting hit in the head), because later you learn the daughter swapped the real thing with a fake. Its little touches like that that make this movie one of my all-time favorites.

Seriously? This confused you guys? It was dead obvious to me ...

And the editting and dubbing of G2K was very minimal.

Sandy Frank dubs. All others are fail.

One reason I Love this movie is that it instills a real sense of setting. The opening rampage give you a solid impression that Godzilla covers alot of ground demolishing the country side..

The military and alien encounter, feature distant shots where you can see where he emerged, even in the final segments of the sequence.

The last battle is great because throughout the film you've seen shots of the tokyo skyline where it all goes down. Then godzilla rises from the bay and marches to the district. Throughout the ending you get the feeling that you know the lay of the land AND ITS AWESOME! Its what makes the monster mash to so great.
The dead animals in KOM are a result of high powered signals sent from aliens,to awaken the dormant monsters. Animals with similar senses are overloaded from the signal &drop dead. That way much of the world will be destroyed in prep for the invasion.

Rody wrote:Well, I just watched this movie again. My opinion is: no, it is not a masterpiece. In fact, it's quite the opposite. It looks very rushed and overall sloppy, especially with the special effects. It's very obvious when a shot is superimposed, the coloration is all over the place in some scenes, and the CGI looks very poor. If this was from the 1980's, I wouldn't criticize; but considering that Gamera 3 came out this same year, G2K looks very poor.

That's not the film's only problem, though. The dubbing is downright awful, and the dialogue is pretty stupid sounding at times. Whether or not this is only present in the dubbed version, I can't say. The soundtrack is mediocre; nothing noteworthy.

The film has its good points: the Mire-Goji suit is pretty good, and the battle scenes are nice. Overall though, the cons outweigh the pros, and this is a pretty weak entry in the franchise. I would actually watch Godzilla vs. Megaguirus over this, at least for sheer entertainment value.

Totally agree with the above.
One thing I like a lot about this film is the cinematography in the beginning during Godzilla's rampage. Godzilla rising above everything in the distance and the lights of the city blacking out.
But, yeah, the film is rather mediocore. I remember watching it as a kid and loving it, but now I see it for what it is.
I think they could've just continued the Heisei Storyline with Junior being the Mire-Goji suit.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
