The swimming Godzilla's got better in the films after this. This one looks pretty bad nowadays, while the one from GMK, still holds up well.

The one in Megaguirus looked the worst.

I honestly can't remember. I haven't seen the film that many times. I seriously doubt it looked "worse" though. Maybe not much better.

Whatever the case, the CG Godzilla's got a lot better with GMK, onwards.

Hey guys remember me? GodzillaDude? I probably have far less posts than some of my old friends on here but that is not the point! I am back to have fun!

Anyways G2k is possibly my favorite Godzilla film for multiple reasons, so I think it is very underrated (so is Godzilla vs. Megaguirus) Here are reasons why I love G2k
- My favorite Godzilla suit (used again in Godzilla vs. Megaguirus but with some modifications)
- A very cool story about the characters exploring Regenerator G1
- Interesting characters that I actually like even in the English dubbed version
- Takehiro Murata
- Orga was/is interesting
- The score is incredible (English version)
- The final battle is great

Yes. Especially at 1:19 is when it gets really good and it's really nice when it plays at the end during the credits when you see Godzilla through the flames-

LOL.

That theme is by Akira Ifukube, who was not the composer of this film. It wasn't composed specifically for GODZILLA 2000. It was an older theme which was used because it was so good. It's Godzilla's theme, and is heard in countless other films.

The original music from the film is bland, and forgettable.

The Japanese score wasn't one of my favourites, that's for sure, but I do like the modified Peter Robinson score used in the American version. Although there are still one or two tracks from the Japanese score that I like.

Anyone know where I can find the "Anti-Godzilla" theme? The one that plays right after Orga's hand falls down in the for-ground.

Music is subjective?

And yeah, a lot of the themes in G2K are fantastic. IMO.

When I said the score was incredible I was referring to the English version. And yeah the final battle is really good and the ending is great!

I like the score in the movie is not the best but i enjoyed parts of it. (Like Dreaded God and Millenium Kingdom)
The battle scenes were great also.
Unstoppable Fury , Unthinkable Power , Unbreakable Will.

I have to say that one of the many, many, many things I love about this film is the characters. I love how they were written as likeable and intelligent people. I espically LOVE the concept of Godzilla Chasers.

I enjoy the film, but it was a bit dull. The human characters were fun, especially Katagiri. He appeared to be in every fanfic on the Rodan's Roost site way back when. I've heard there was a manga adaptation, but apparently the change was that Katagiri lost his mind after Godzilla approached. I liked the film version where he just wanted to have a man-to-man showdown with the King of the Monsters with his mental faculties apparently in check.

I do a pretty good (or so I think) voice impersonation of Katigiri in the english version! :D

But yeah I enjoyed his character as well.

At the time, the film was kind of bland. But in hindsight, after almost two decades of Godzilla films dominated exclusively by the tired "Godzilla Task Force + High-Tech Super Plane" formula and Kaneko's cynical revision of the reporter archetype, the cast of G2K is charming in its sincerity and simplicity and really pleasant to watch interact.

The film is really spotty, though. Can't say it ranks particularly high with me, even considering the nostalgic value the movie has. But the characters are really noteworthy for breaking up the pattern started in the nineties that persisted into the Millennium series.

What I enjoy in the film is the binaries of the CCI and GPN. If there was a sequel, I would have liked to see a tension between the two and how the politics work with them.
