Favorite film and kaiju?

My favorite film is pretty much tied between Godzilla against Mechagodzilla and Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah. Favorite monster? Um...Kiryu, I suppose.

Orgah, Monster X, and Megaguirus are all cool, but Kiryu was both the best idea and the best executed of the new monsters. Yeah, he's basically just a new version of Mechagodzilla, but he's so distinct compared to the previous ones and has such an interesting premise by himself that I can't help but give it to him.

Orga, most original design and abilities. It was cool how the UFO was pretty much a kaiju throughout the entire movie as well.
As for favorite film I would say GMK.

A tie between GMK and GxMG. I would have said GMK 6 months ago. Hell, ten years ago. This very minute, I'm not sure.

Kaiju is easily Godzilla, but other than Godzilla? Mothra or Kiryu.

It feels like I've done this before even in my new account but here it is anyway -
Film - Definitely GMK, with G2K (the US cut in particular) next, then the Kiryu films & Megaguirus, with GFW dead last.

Kaiju - I honestly prefer the simplicity of Orga and Megaguirus to the more overblown designs of SpaceGodzilla and Destoroyah. That was a welcome change. I really dig the Guardians Monsters, even if Mothra and Ghidorah were shoved in there. I find something to like in all Mechagodzillas so I also thought Kiryu was pretty neat. Mothra's SOS design was gorgeous.

It's not until Final Wars do things become hit-or-miss. It's a shame the effects guys were so rushed and low on money to do their jobs on what should have been the best looking Godzilla film ever.
