Did Toho make Zilla look horrible on purpose in FW?

I think I read about this somewhere that Toho purposely made Zilla look awful in terms of CGI in Final Wars. And let's face it, Zilla looks God-awful in that movie.

You guys might know the answer, but did Toho actually purposely make him look shitty because his entire role in the movie was supposed to be a joke? Please, no rudeness or bashing in your comments, I was a legit answer.

It certainly wasn't the movie's goal to provide a flattering portrayal, but I don't think they purposefully sh*t up the CGI, did they?

It's right on par with or even slightly better than the CGI in any of the Millenium Godzilla films. Which is to say not very good. But these were Japanese film budgets, more than ten years ago, and with less than a year of production time each.

No. CGI in Japan just isn't as good.

Besides, Zilla was just a short cameo appearance like all the monsters. Toho just thought it would be cool to fight the American Godzilla with the Japanese.

Actually the director said somewhere that he was intentionally made with bad CG in order to make fun of the 98 Godzilla's effects.

I actually kinda like the design of FW Zilla, the oversized head looks good on him. Shame about the horrible CGI.

Toho wanted to clear up that Zilla and Godzilla are not the same thing- they thought that GINO was really weak and did not live up to Godzilla standards, so they renamed him/her Zilla and killed him/her off! And yes, they did, to add insult- but they couldn't make him too much of a joke, or we wouldn't like it, so he destroyed Sydney...

What CGI did GMK have that was significantly better than this? Everything there looked pretty rough as well.

None of the CGI in the Millenium series looks great, but I think Zilla is actually on the higher end.

remember reading an interview somewhere that Zilla, ironically, became a favorite of the director while working on the film. Now whether he was joking or not... is to be seen.
