I heard that it was because he was going to be the corpse, and that toho didn't want any negative reactions from fans. Godzilla and Anguirus have had an Allie thing goin' on for a long time. so it was changed to kamoebas.

That is exactly why. Although, a short fight ending in Anguirus's death could've been cool.

Sorry to bump this topic but I still can't see those other tanks, even after I re watched that scene. Can someone post a picture, or give me exact directions on where to look?

Oh now I see why I was confused, they're not shown in the movie just in the books.

Wait, so when everyone was saying "there are tubes with DNA from all these monsters at the end of Tokyo SOS," what they meant was "there's nothing like that in Tokyo SOS, but some book has a chart with B&W pictures from the Showa movies"? No wonder we were confused, James.

You can see godzilla's tank and even the date 1954 on it but the doors close before you can see anything else.

Didn't Kamacuras, Kumonga, and Ebirah DNA show up as well? Hard to believe that Ebirah: HOD, and Son of Godzilla exist in the Kiryu universe when they stated that 1999 was the first time Tokyo was attack by Godzilla since 1954.

Here are screenshots of the sequence, for reference.

You can see 1954, the kanji for Gojira, and the date of 1999/11/03 on the center drawer, and the date of 1987/10/7 on the one above it, but not much else. Certainly not the array of monster names the book mentions.

Thank you Toast, now I can put my sanity to rest :) The only date there that corresponds with the book is 1987, which is the Kamoebas attack. But I believe that was already mentioned in the movie itself.

I don't know why they list down FCTW happeing in 1965 when the movie states it takes place 15 years after the Hiroshima bombing? So the movie would take place a year before Mothra.

Still would not make any sense since the story said that it took place in 1960.

IIRC, FCTW takes place over a great deal of time.

*checks and comes back* The word 'anniversary' was used when talking about the girl that had made the embroidary from when we're first introduced to our characters being dead in the Japanese version. I guess it all depends on what you interpret 'anniversary' as, considering theres a one week anniversary and its cohorts, a one month anniversary and its chums, and the oh so obvious one year anniversary and you get the picture.
Today, at the edge of our hope...

At the end of our time, we have chosen to believe in each other.

Today we face the monsters that are at our door.

TODAY WE ARE CANCELLING THE APOCALYPSE!
