In what sense is it stupid? It's very much in the tradition of classic genre titles in Japan. Of course, it souns better in Japanese, I'll grant, but even in English, while it lacks the pleasing roundness of its original language, it still has a rich, evocative quality that I certainly prefer over the initialism.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

The short answer for the original question is that Toho wanted Mothra and King Ghidorah in the title (and in the movie) because they were proven box office (and merchandising) draws. Baragon didn't have the kind of clout.
Jory wrote:^ I would just drop the Giant Monsters All-Out Attack and call it Godzilla, Mothra, and King Ghidorah, since Sony is probably going to want the monster names in the title. I don't know why they didn't just do that in the first place, considering they had the good sense to drop the G Extermination Strategy from the title of Godzilla vs. Megaguirus when they released it overseas.
Sony just used Toho's official English titles for both films... it was Toho who cut G Extermination Strategy from the English title GODZILLA VS MEGAGUIRUS.

When Sony was considering a wider US release for GMK they actually thought about adding Baragon's name to the title.

No, they don't. The Japanese title is ゴジラ・モスラ・キングギドラ 大怪獣総攻撃 (Gojira, Mosura, Kingu Gidora: Daikaijuu Sookoogeki)... that's pretty long.

I agree with eabaker that the title -- while very long -- is a nice throwback to the Japanese titles of the Godzilla films of the 1960s, which was the intent all along.

Sorry, sometimes I lost the control..........But returning to this topic's context, maybe Baragon only was placed on the movie as a justification to bring Godzilla to the city

Because he was too short to stick his letter with the others.
Seriously it would sound terrible, GBMK... Godzilla's Bowel Movements Kill is terrible compared to Godzilla, Monster Killer.

That'd be too long of a damn title. That's like if they put every monsters name in destroy all monsters.

That's why we use abbreviations. It could be GBMK. Hey, that's actually pretty catchy! :D

Maybe because the title is long enough without him in it.

Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah - Giant Monsters All-Out Attack is a fair number o' words.

EDIT: Yes, I realize that it's several words shorter in Japanese. Still...
