Monster Discussion: Monster X / Keizer Ghidorah

Postby gojira012 » Tue Aug 31, 2010 8:30 pm

Use this thread for general discussion of the kaiju Monster X and/or Keizer Ghidorah.

First, I would like to talk about his origin. Since Final Wars follows no true continuity and from the opening we're meant to believe it sorta blends everything together here is my own fun theory for the origin of Monster X(Keizer Ghidorah). Say after the DAM final battle at Mt. Fuji, Godzilla finally finishes Ghidorah off by blow his central head off. The rest of the body is destroyed but Xillian spies steal the central head use it to genetically create a new creature by fusing it with cells from their greatest warrior (the Keizer xillian, all moral failings aside) Well what do you think?

Interesting idea...

...but DAM never happened, not even in an 'alternate universe' way, because Godzilla was frozen from 1964 until the film's events.

The theory screams of Super Godzilla. Anyway, it does have some logic.

I had a similar experience on the last forum, when it comes to continuity. The point is, if the studio didn't provide an origin, then there isn't any reason for us to assume anything other than what happened ever happened.

I think he's only meant to be a big space monster, and his transformation into Ghidorah was supposed to be a surprise.

Final Wars is a stand alone movie, and is not apart of any Godzilla movie or series. Yeah we did flash backs in the intro, but that was a homege to the older movies.

Then post in the Fanfiction section or something. Creativity is awesome, I was once a budding writer myself (before I realized you can't make a living writing) but this is the wrong place.

It wasn't a part of any previous Godzilla series, but it did tie in events/monsters from previous films in the Godzilla universe into its own continuity. Megaguirus existed (though the origin had to have been different, seeing it was first spawned by a weapon made for use against Godzilla, which wouldn't have been necessary), as did Varan and Baragon. The other monsters in the movie existed (though most of them couldn't have fought Godzilla, since he was frozen in 1964, assuming that's true). The Gargantuas existed. I forget whether one of them was in the opening montage, but they had Masers. But, to quote many a TK toon character, I digress...

Who LIKED Monster X/Keizer Ghidorah? [Read First]

Postby alienhulk2099 » Thu Sep 23, 2010 5:42 pm

Now that we have that out of the way, who DID like this monster? To be honest I thought they were both neat and kind of under rated. They could have done more, but maybe they'll appear again one day, who knows.

I personally liked both the Monster X and the Keizer Ghidorah form. My only complaint is that KG's wings were just too small for him to fly, and the base of his necks looked a little... fat to me.

If anything, I like Monster X's design. I remember being excited when I first saw him. He just wasn't around long enough to make an impression.

Both forms were unique, and would make awesome video game characters. I especially liked how Keizer Ghidorah broke traditional aspects of the Ghidorahs both in his powers/abilities, and I also thought it neat that it stood on four legs.

Monster X is kinda lame. He feels a bit out of place in the Godzilla universe. He'd probably work better as an Ultraman alien villain.

Kasier Ghidorah looked cool on paper, but the design doesnt really scream "Ghidorah" and his roar was pretty stupid.

Monster was pretty interesting. Overall he looked too much like he should've been fighting Ultraman or the Power Rangers. But, reworked, he could make a good villain. There's a lot of potential for this character. Probably not in any future movies, but videos games or comics/mangas? Sure, bring it on. Maybe make him look more draconic or demonic. He could be created by scientist/aliens toying with Ghidorah's DNA or something like that.

Keizer Ghidorah was okay too. I'm not a fan of any Ghidorah being a quadruped, but the literal gravity bolts were cool. That's an aspect that should be used for a future Ghidorah.

I liked them but Monster X could have been pulled off better and while I'm OK with Keizar Ghidorah, a four legged Ghidorah was not the way to go with this kind of film. Really something like Grand King Ghidorah would have been a better fit for the big five-oh. Oh and what HaysAJons said about the gravity beams as well.

Also why couldn't MX's arms turn into wings instead of extra legs?

Monster X is kinda cool, but better as an Ultraman villain. Keizer Ghidorah sucks.

I like Monster X. I think he's just as valid in the Godzillaverse as Megalon or Gigan. However, as I've mentioned a couple times here, i think he has no potential career outside of Final Wars. He's just tailored made to fit that movie so well, any film that wasn't a sequel to Final Wars would require him to be modified beyond recognition.

Keizer Ghidorah is just a lame incarnation of a classic character.
