I know Gigan's supposed to be a Cyborg, but he looks full on Mech in this movie.

The cluster ray was a good idea. It was visually interesting, but Gigan barely used it. It should have been better utilized in the movie. Gigan finally has a reliable distance weapon, and it doesn't get good use.

The grapple hooks were allright, but I did like the chainsaws. They were an effective weapon.

The Grapple hooks could be his most reliable weapon for distance, of course if he's not facing his enemy, if It's a monster like say Titanosaurus, he has no ranged weapon which can stop the grapple hooks, he'd be killed easily since he would have no defense against it like Godzilla did.

I always thought the double chainsaw arm upgrade was a bit of an eyesore.

The grapple hooks were a pretty bad ass upgrade, but the double chainsaws were too much.

The cluster light ray was pretty lame IMO just a glorified shot gun blast. The chainsaws were pretty sick though.

Gigan overall is a pretty cool cyborg. He's better than the justice league cyborg. But he needs a better ranged weapon.

Their problem was that they were too clunky. They definitely could've been done better.

^^^ Yeah they were completely oversized for Gigan. It was like they were trying to turn Gigan into a giant Swiss Army knife.

Also, I'm fine with Gigan lacking a good ranged weapon. Thats his thing, He's clearly built as a melee fighter. where a creature like Ghidorah lacks a proper meele attack and is all about range.

Which would most likely lead to Gigan loosing an arm. His grappling hooks as many have said were Gigan's best weapon. The cluster beam was a pretty weapon, that I think is used more as a distraction in order for Gigan to close the distance. The chainsaws were unique, but were also very clunky and appeared to be pretty damn heavy. It's a huge shame that we never got to see Gigan use his actual scythes that he was created with.

The main body which in most cases is much more durable than an arm, unless you're the the Hulk in which case EVERY part of you is built like ten thousand tanks :P. A beam the size of FinaroGoji's would consume Gigan's arm, as it did with Keizer's middle head, Monster X face when he took the shot point blank and his entire face was enveloped, or Hedorah and Ebirah plus the building they were stuck on, and all you saw was a shit ton of bluish white, and not a lot of Kaiju... Or Gigan's head that was erased by Godzilla's kamehamea. I'm not trying to start a Final Wars argument whatsoever LC, as we both know how those end.

I also now refuse to call the beam FinaroGoji uses an atomic breath, as it's not in the slightest. Shit like that goes in the Dragon Ball vault .

With the exception of the chainsaws, which were too over the top, the new additions were awesome and I'd love for them to return to future films.

i like the upgrades, but i didn't like how the aliens were so able to just change him up (going from arm claws to chainsaws). i would imagine that it would take more time to do that, though had they given him some form of hyper - mech regeneration...nah. refitting a new head was fine too. i really like Gigan in the millenium series. i dare say he was cooler here than his showa counterpart, though the showa version had a way better personality. the weapons were great.

if it wasn't, then there would be no point in using just one Gigan the second time around. unleash multiples, or even skip out on Kaiser Ghidorah entirely because an army of Gigan would be pretty much unstoppable.

I do recall Chainsaw Gigan having a metal ring around his neck. I always assumed that was a clue that the reattached the head. Somehow. Despite it being vaporized.

Oh well. Not like the movie made any sense in the first place.

It was a nice upgrade for Gigan.
Though there was no Flame thrower through his mouth.
It's sucks we hardly got to see them at all in the film.

^ I suppose it could be, yes.

Anyway, I thought the grappling hooks were a good idea. Being a melee specialist, Gigan needs every method he can get to force his enemies to fight him up close. Being able to quickly fly up to them is probably the best way to do that, and of course he makes use of that ability, but the grappling hooks are an excellent alternative. Really, it would've been cool to see him combine those two abilities: tie Godzilla up with the hooks, then fly around with him, dragging him across the ground, slamming him into mountains/buildings, maybe carry him into the air and then drop him... these things are pretty much ideal for a sadistic coward like Gigan. If he ever gets another movie, I want to see them used to their full potential.

Well the discs cutting his own head off is right up there with Frieza getting killed by his own discs. A lot of stuff in this movie is quite Dragon Ball inspired. You could say The Matrix inspired, but since THAT movie was inspired by Dragon Ball...
