Godzilla 2000's roars

This has always confused me, did toho mix some of Zilla's roars in with Godzilla's roars? Or are they different roars, and growls completely?

I loved the elephant-like roars in that version.

Indeed. I know some people dislike the Millennium Godzilla roar but I like the echoing, boomy roar that gives Godzilla a sense of size and scale.

And that roar has more presence in a scene. It has more effect on an audience.

The American version of Godzilla 2000 added various roars and grunts, most of which resemble G98's elephant-like cries. The US editors denied having access to the G98 samples, but I dunno about that...

Yeah, I'm still convinced that's bs.

I think kpa or someone explained that they really didn't have anything from GINO to work from.

^So they purposefully sought sounds that were nearly identical to GINO, when the whole point of G2K was to wash GINO out of peoples' minds? Huh.

I think it worked, honestly.

It gives Godzilla a "voice" if you catch my drift. He doesnt just have 3 roars to cycle through. He sounds like a real creature.

Godzilla 2000's whole point was to make a quick buck.

True, but you can apply that reasoning to pretty much any studio film. I'm also referring to the US editors (who had a decent amount of creative control and influence) specifically, not Toho.

I liked a lot of the other noises they gave him, but the GINO cries were a little annoying to me for whatever reason.

Oh of course not, I still love the movie no matter what. :)

Me too. My second favorite Millenium movie easily. :D
