Wow, the analysis of the Xillian villain as a mad warlord with Neron child-like this plays just makes me like the character more and more.

Also, for all we know tantrums are socially accepted for the Xillian, way to impose our planet's culture to an external society

I thought he was kinda cool. He got a little bit too insane right before his demise, sort of like Zant from Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, but he was still cool overall.

He's the only actor that I can definitely say was actually having fun with his character. The rest could have been enjoying their roles as well, but they didn't really show on screen.

He's one of my favorite movie villians. He's an awesome screaming, giggling maniac, even my mom liked him and she hated Finale Wars.

I'm surprised by the debate of the character. He's a fun, over-the-top villain for a (wannabe) fun, over-the-top film.

Just because a film deals with death doesn't mean it's grim or serious. Look at films like Zombieland, Shaun of the Dead, Monty Python, Kick-Ass, etc.

Final Wars didn't even try to make you feel bad for the thousands or millions of innocent lives that were ended by monsters and explosions. On the contrary, "Independence Day" was way more successful at being fun and enjoyable while also have serious tones. Not FW. Not at all. In fact, I think it was even funnier when it TRIED to be serious, with the exception of the character this thread is devoted too.

I think some fans hate him just because they hate the film, not because there's anything particularly wrong with him or his portrayal...certainly not within the context of the film.

At least the actor seemed to realize what kind of film they were making, which is more than I can say for the lead...
