Biollante Animated Scene

Postby Wrinkledlion X » Wed May 16, 2012 4:07 pm

Hi, anybody know where I can find a higher quality version of the video here? I've seen stills in high quality, so I assume it's out there somewhere.

Yeah..."Anime" in Godzilla movies it would of been interesting if they keep that but that would mean
Godzilla dying in BIOLLANTE and no sequels.
Unstoppable Fury , Unthinkable Power , Unbreakable Will.

^ Granted, we wouldn't have gotten Mecha-King Ghidorah, Battra, Fire Rodan, Super Mechagodzilla, Godzilla Jr., Spacegodzilla, or Destoroyah --- but personally I only care about a few of these kaiju anyway.

Then again, there's no telling where the franchise would be today if things had worked out like this.....

Because I'm sure that's exactly what would have happened.

This scene is in the Biollante Making-Of, there's another test-shot completely done in stop-motion in there.
I guess they had some problems with the tentacles (prop-tentacles on wires never look really good) and did some experiments with different techniques. There were cell-animated elements in the older movies (like Dogora), maybe Kawakita toyed with this as sort of a throwback.

I heard from several people on other sites that Godzilla was planned to be killed off in this movie. But I never believed it until now.

Wow. Somebody clearly recording that with camcorder/mobile device, and uploaded it, because the quality is atrocious. There used to be a better one on youtube, but Toho must have taken it down recently.

The only way to find that clip of it in HD would be to rip it off of the Japanese Blu-ray.

That or you saved everything that was ever put up on the Toho Kingdom site.

Yes. It and the stop motion scene were both on the main TK site.

This is a very cool scene, although I am glad it is not in the final film. It has a certain quality, that special effects can't get.
Tokusatsu and Translating are my favorite things.
