I was under the impression that Stargate was intended to be a trilogy, or at least one seqeul was planned for the flick. There was even talk a few years back about finally making the planned sequel to the first flick a few years ago by Devlin and Emmerich. So I don't think Emmerich was all that opposed to doing sequels, and I could see him doing a sequel to G-98 . Especially, if the film was more successful.

Stargate was indeed intended to be a trilogy, though despite its box office success it never happened. However, D&E have stated they still are set on created parts two and three, so we'll see what happens. I did like the first Stargate even if it could've been handled a bit better.

And I agree that D&E aren't opposed to sequels since they were hoping for one since 1994 at the earliest. The Godzilla franchise was to be a trilogy as well, and let's not forget that recently there was talk of an Independence Day sequel, not surprising considering the absurd amount of money it made (over $800M IIRC).

I really had thought Godzilla 98 was an amazing film unto itself. It was different, but I thought it was a good kind of difference. My only disappointment had been how easy Gozilla was killed in the end. It seemed so... sudden ._.

I did enjoy the Godzilla series that came out afterwards though. The main character humans looked a bit strange, but I enjoyed by new monsters presented for Godzilla to fight/bond. And they even gave this Godzilla its trademark breathe attack
