Hesei Godzilla images (300dpi and up)

Postby Hesei » Fri Feb 17, 2012 8:19 pm

Whoooo boy! Okay. I am looking for hi-res shots of the big G from the Heisei era. I'm actually looking for anything that would be good for printing - 300dpi or higher.
And no, I won't be printing them up for sale on ebay or any crap like that. Actually, I was hoping to do a collage of 4 or 5 images to hang up in my office. I have a Heisei display I'm quite fond of, but there is some wall space that can't be filled with anything official.

So I was thinking of making a frame with space for 4 or 5 large pics of Heisei G (not burning) to go above the display on the... vent-box. Hey, I managed to get central air into the porch I converted to an office. It's not ideal, but it's functional!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/ ... isplay.jpg <-- sorry for the mess in the bg, I'm in the middle of another weekend project... and I'm sorry for the bloom.
Holy crap we can't use IMG BBCodes?

I don't think I'm out of line in wanting to do something like this, right? I mean, it's for personal use only, so there shouldn't be any sort of if not legal, moral issue, right?

Anyway, I wasn't able to find a whole lot of worthwhile images online, and my blu-ray screencaps aren't as clear as I'd like. Anyone have anything to share?

P.S. I know it sucks to request on a first post, but I could SWEAR that I had a TK account before. I was so certain to have posted here in the past, if on a very limited basis.

Heh, it is pretty awesome. Quite the hassle to move, though. Luckily, the tail is removable, so I get a little room to play with his overall pose. I do have to support the tail with a piece of black PVC pipe, but it blends in well with the rest of the figures.
I remember at G-Fest in 99 or 2000 there was one of these with a reposed tail, with it wrapping around G, shrinking the footprint considerably. I still have photos of that, somewhere, but since they're not digital, I don't think I'll be digging them up anytime soon.

So this seems to have been a bust, no one has any images? Ah well, I've ordered some more books and magazines, so maybe I'll find some images I can scan. I'll be sure to post them should anyone be interested... I can't be the only one interested in this...

Would you be interested in A3 versions of these two images? Originally I wanted to get large canvas prints done, but never got round to it.

Awesome collection you've got there! Godzilla '91 is my favourite design, happy to help anyone dedicated to their collection. I've been collection 'Godzilla vs King Ghidorah' stuff for years - https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-tczw ... tion-1.jpg - would you believe I still haven't got any Bandai King Ghidorah figures as yet! I guess I always held off buying them because they were easier to find than the rarer stuff I've got.

All the best!

That is a great display! I love seeing something dedicated wholly to one film. Would you believe I have never seen something like that or even thought of it?! Ah man, now I wanna redo everything!

And heck yeah on those A3's! Do you have scans or actual sheets?

A3 Versions - http://dl.dropbox.com/u/52194811/G91-A3v1.zip - I've included a border because most printers don't do edge to edge and can leave the white sides unbalanced, (I'm a fussy designer!).

They are scans. I wanted to print A0 sized (or 60x80cm) posters. I'm not sure they would look as good at that size though because of the dotted nature of the scan. Might be worth printing one yourself (on A4 say) and see what you think. The scanner I used is old (again, I was meant to do this a while ago) and a modern scanner might produce a better version.

The original scans are huge (eg: 3508 × 4961 pixels, 41.8MB). Let me know how you get on with the A3s, if you need something larger it wouldn't be difficult, would just take a while to up/download.

Glad you like the display! I thought it might be cheaper to just get stuff from one movie, but there's still a few things to get. I'm also not collecting all the '91 models (yet!) because that would cost too much at the moment, and I'm not very good at making models! Would still like to try it one day though, there's a Kaiyodo Ghidogoji which looks pretty awesome. I would love the huge '89 one you've got there, but I don't know if I could as good a job painting it etc.

If you can get your hands on some Japanese 'making of' books they're usually full of cool shots of the suits, great for profile shots like these.

Let me know how you get on!

Awesome, thanks a lot! I'll be sure to let you know how things work out. I'm gonna play with these pictures a bit in photoshop and shrink them down. I have a rather limited height to play with, but I think it will help with them being 96dpi. I'd really like to do 5 pics matted in a row, all in one frame.

I actually have the Making of G vs Ghidorah book and was only just able to find it, so I'll be going through that!

As to the models, go for it, man. I didn't paint the 89... or any of my models for that matter. Sucks, I know, but I just never had the time to develop modeling skills. The 89 came from ebay along with a number of other models. Any kits I buy these days, I send off to Monster Jones - great rates! So if you're scrapped for time, he's a great option. Though, you're in the UK, so that may be a tad difficult...

For the heck of it, here are some of the kits he's done for me. He's done a few others along with a good bit of repair work for other stuff that was damaged over the years.
