Heisei Mechagodzilla is just really cool. He lacks the "character" thing Kiryu had going on, and he may not be the same level of badass as Showa MechaG, but he's arguably the most powerful Mechagodzilla incarnation thus far. His head, which some have complained has some sort of duck-face going on, actually looks IMO appropiate and kind of looks like Godzilla's head. In fact, most of his body is just Heisei Godzilla's covered in tin foil, but seeing how it IS a doppleganger of Goji, it's actualy appropiate. The only complaint i have is the tail, which looks just like Barney's except in metal form. Overall, Heisei Mechagodzilla is a unique powerhouse amongst powerhouses in the Heisei Era.

This Mechagodzilla is probably my #1 favorite MG overall. Not just because of the movie he was in, but rather, what game he was in.

See, my first real introduction to Godzilla was the Atari game, GDAMM. And as you should know, MechaG '93 was the final boss, and a tough one at that. I remember being so frustrated that I couldnt beat him, but that was part of his appeal; he kicked ass and looked good doing it! Who could forget the infamous fist pound in his intro? You just knew he was a boss.

And it was a while before I ever saw the Kiryu movies, or the Showa MG ones, so for the longest time, he was the one and only Mechagodzilla to me.

And I do enjoy his movie appearance too. I would've liked more close combat, but hey, he's a tough foe and hes got a sweet design. I like his cold, emotionless face, and if I ever wanna change how he acts and fights, I have the video games and my Bandai figure to use in movies, lol.

So yeah, I love MechaG '93.

This is probably my least favorite Mechagodzilla. Doesn't look as cool as Kiryu or the Showa version, and it lacks personality (which I guess is appropriate for the context of the film).

Also, he just has that dopey look on his face...

I like the machine approach on the 93 MG. He's just cold and unfeeling like a killing machine. He's kind of like the terminator without the accent (or an embarrassing career in politics). I like the personality that Kiryu and especially 74/75, but the 93's character fits the film.

My least favorite MechaGodzilla. Good movie! But I have to give Godzilla's mechanical double SOME credit.. unlike the Showa and Millennium MechaGodzilla's, this one ACTUALLY got the job done in crippling and killing Godzilla (til Rodan resurrected him). Other than that, I think he's boring and has no personality and the design is ugly. Showa MechaGodzilla all the way :)

My favorite description for the Heisei MechaGodzilla is a gigantic, chrome pear. A pin-head, a bloated gut, and some serious child-bearing hips. It looks too heavy to be vehicle, or to possess any agility in battle. On top of that, it's such a dramatically bland design.

I don't hate it or anything, but it's definitely in a distant third place as far as MGs go.

This is my least favorite Toho mech. His design is just so incredibly boring, and unappealing. I recalling someone on these boards coining the "MechaDuckzilla" name a while back, and I think it's actually pretty fitting. He may be more powerful than Kiryu, but that means nothing to me. Kiryu was a refreshing take on Mechagodzilla, and was a huge improvement over this walking tank.

I liked MG2 a little more than Kiryu. MG2 just seemed to have a bit more to offer as a monster. It had the laser eyes, Mega-Buster, Plasma Grenade, Paraylzer missiles, a Garuda super mode, and one of the only weapons to ever kill Godzilla, the G-Crusher. Although I think that he was responsible for the supposed "beam wars" of the Heisei series, it kind of felt appropriate for his character. He's a military machine designed to shoot stuff at Godzilla until he fell down. T&C weren't really options when he weighed so much and could have his weapons damaged in a up-close fight. It's a pretty good monster, if a tad bland in appearance.

You're right, I should have said a bloated pelvic paunch beneath the gut. The appearance of being "fat" is amplified by the massive thighs, and it all add ups to one bottom-heavy mech.

I remember (it's not like one can ignore it), but I never liked that design choice.

I don't really see what you are referring to Cimmerian dragon...

I look at this photo:

http://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/images ... illa93.htm

and I see a proportionally fine mech. Sure it could have used a larger tail and a slightly bigger head but it doesn't really seem bottom heavy. Also, when MechaG turns into Super MechaG, both the top and bottom are perfectly balanced.

Huh? Heisei MG doesn't have a gut at all. If anything, Showa MG is the one with the beer belly.

The pictures posted on this site give a different perspective of the portion that is protruding.

http://www.tohokingdom.com/kaiju/images ... illa74.htm

Seems to me, he has no belly either, if the cutter beam hatch ends in his sternum... Just a large diaphragm and a pelvic region. I also noted that MG mach 2 has a different torso built.

MGII certainly looks best in a head-on shot, and when well-lit against a black background. Once you hit a 3/4 shot, where you can get all that awesome "thigh action" involved, it starts to look pretty plump to me. Emphasizing the "to me" part. You can like it all you want. Hell I "like' it, I just think it lacks the personality of MG74 or the sleek and weaponized style of Kiryu, thus I like those designs better.

I think he's really awesome. Slick, metallic, with those cool ball jointed arms and legs, and some cool weapons to boot. I agree that he is more of a vehicle than an actual monster, but I think he still serves his purpose well and that he is a great looking creation.

Of the three MechaGodzilla designs this was by far my least favorite. I loved Kiryu's design/personality the best and Showa MechaG's arsenal and role as antagonist. This design (stumpy tail and all) is just so plain. He may have been the most powerful, but he certainly wasn't the most memorable IMO.

You mean the most powerful MechaG? Maybe he was a great danger to Godzilla, but in a one on one fight with the other 2 Mechs hed probably just fall down from his lack of maneuverability. And if they got into hand to hand combat... Even if hes bigger, a few karate chops or punches would floor him for good. And i dont think missiles bode to well for that guy.
