So, I just finished watching Baoh.

It was a dubbed version, and that alone was difficult to find. But anyway, I thought it was decent; it's one of those movies that is cheesy, yet still awesome. Also very graphic. (YES!) :D

Have any of you seen it?

Coincidentally, I was just playing World Heroes Perfect before clicking on this topic, and that game has a character based on Baoh.

I haven't seen the anime, but I read Viz's release of the manga a while back and liked it. The set-up was a bit like Guyver, but with the added weirdness you'd expect from the creator of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The story left an opening for a sequel years down the road, and I wouldn't mind if Araki revisited this work. Some good old '80s head-exploding would liven-up the modern anime industry.

I still have yet to see a good OV movie... and Baoh was not it.

The film is very sci-fi, so might appeal to people who are fans of the genre. It's also very graphic, which is probably the only memorable aspect, so gore hounds might take note as well.

Overall, though, I found the film to be pretty lackluster. The way they introduce the villains of the movie with no background, such as the cyborg or native american with the psychic powers, does them no favors either. Be kind of interested in the manga, because I assume these characters must be given some sort of background or at least build up in there that the movie lacks.

I haven't read the manga. You are right about the lack of introducing characters, because they lacked any identity in the OV. My only reason for watching Baoh: The Visitor is because I wanted to watch something cheesy. Going into the movie, I had no knowledge of the manga, nor was I expecting anything more than that. The gore was also entertaining.
