By recreating the ONLY thing more terrible than Godzilla?

No, there is no reason to bring Serizawa back.

One thing I always thought would be cool was that when they tested the Micro-Oxygen in GvsD, it not only awakened the microbial Destoroyahs, it also awakened Serizawa's spirit, and the two were combined. Then, Destoroyah would have killed Jr. and Goji, then broken down himself.
But, it probably wouldn't have worked...

I wouldn't mind one. I enjoyed the Heisei series, and a continuation would be interesting to see. It may not be the best route for Toho to take as a company, but I think it would be cool.

I'd like a nice and neat continuity series, but not of Heisei. Let's do something new.

I would say build off the Showa, but then Godzilla would HAVE to be all nice and hero-ish, something im sure most crowds would rather not see. Then again, ignoring both Showa and Heisei would mean making another movie like G2k, GvMeg, GMK, and GaMG and i really don't want that to happen again. Perhaps a remake should be done and then build a continuos series out of that.

Actually... Yeah. I'm changing my answer. I like continuity, but reviving an existing series would really only serve to show how terribly Toho is running out of ideas.

True. It's also how I feel about Toho's revival of existing kaiju. I'm not opposed to them bringing back some of our classics, but they started off with new stuff in the Heisei and Millennium like Biollante in the former or Orga and Megaguirus in the latter, then mostly slipping back into the routine King Ghidorah, Mothra, Mechagodzilla, etc. Even in the Showa, I think KG shows up more than enough times (and I'm a KG fan).

I dunno. I'm just hoping Legendary's film (and if I may be so bold, some of its successors) doesn't force itself into rehashing the same old too often and being the better for it as a result. JMO

Continuity would be nice, definitely. If the Heisei series is revived (which I believe is good enough on its own), it should retain continuity.

No thanks to the Heisei revival. If anything, I want to see a modern version of the 60's Showa films.

I've said that on here before, so we agree. In my fantasy world I'd like to see remakes of a number of Showa films (and not just Godzilla). Still, I enjoy seeing new things.
