The right answer is caramel.

I find Legion a more compelling antagonist but overall G3 is the better, more emotionally engaging movie

Advent of Legion is pure KINO...i hate the fact i just used that phrase but it's true! It's the most fun,has the most compelling antagonist and shows Gamera at his very best. Revenge of Iris is a close second for me with GOTU coming third, but still pretty good.

Okay what does kino mean anyway? Seems like it suddenly popped up over night.

Legion because they're probably the most "Alien" Giant Monster ever.

Gamera 3 because of how personal the enemies are to Gamera. Ayana was a girl who lost her family to the kaiju that's supposed to be a hero and winds up turning an innocent baby into a monster in both senses of the word in an effort to make its parent's dark wish come true. When she learns the truth that a Gyaos was responsible, it's too late. It's kind of open-ended as to whether that's true or Iris was evil the whole time (it is a Gyaos, I just think this way since it wasn't raised like a Gyaos), but it's much deeper than the other movies that carried the "kaiju of the film" style of previous entries.
8-) ... because I can.

Well Iris was created to as a fail safe to kill Gamera if he ever went out of control so I think Iris would have went after Gamera with or without Ayana.

Stupid meme meaning the absolute pinnacle or best of the Japanese films out there or something along those lines. Can be used seriously or sarcastically.

It's pretty clear that Iris is supposed to be evil from the title alone.

The old Moribe woman tells a story about a sumo wrestler who was unable to move the rock that sealed Iris inside the cave; Ayana had no trouble doing it. So I think Ayana was necessary to awaken Iris. Her hatred for Gamera may have helped feed it.

It seems like the Atlantians couldn't create poop without something turning evil, for skreeonk sake they couldn't even get Gamera to work. I guess the road to hell is paved with good intentions lol

Iris's motives are very vague but it's clear the filmmakers intended him to be Gamera's absolute opposite

AGH... Don't make me choose!
Yeah, i love the trilogy as a well, but my favorite ones have to be the second and third films, the second has a pretty frightening alien threat and shows Gamera at his peak, the third has the darkest story, mixes some cosmic horror with Irys, his otherwordly design and mysterious goals and motives and it also delves a bit more into Gamera's Atlantean past.

Since I've been showing the trilogy to numerous people, along with a re-match about six weeks ago, I realized I saw 'Kirin' somewhere then again on a later re-watch. I think I first saw a 'Kirin' billboard in Gamera 2 when he lands. Strangely stuck with me. Then I thought I saw it pop up during Guardian of the Universe when showing it to a friend. Re-watched the final battle for fun and there it is Kirin when Gamera shoots his triple fireball. There's got to be a third one somewhere in Gamera 3.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kirin_Company

Beer company. I expected it to be a supermarket or department store chain. Hm seems like they got a few other things. Seems there is a mythical east Asian creature called the Kirin or Qirin.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qilin

Or maybe there is no more mythical named beer in the one Gamera movie with a strong mythical element.

Guardian is the best example of a classic take we have on the kaiju genre in the modern era.

It’s got better characters then Part 2 but it’s perhaps not as much fun.

Part three has the best characters, and the best kaiju action. So for me it’s a no brainer.

I feel like it’s the only trilogy in my mind where each film was better than the last.

I showed my friends the trilogy yesterday.

They REALLY loved 3 for the story, effects, and action. So that was pretty cool. They enjoyed GOTU, but I could kinda tell they weren’t too invested in 2. A lot of it had to do with the fact that they were more attached and invested in the cast from GOTU and Revenge of Iris.
Reignited... and hopefully less weird this time around.

I'm a guy with simple interests. Mostly revolving around monsters blowing up entire cities.
