Kaiju Discussion: Dragon

Postby Godzilla2004fan » Thu Nov 01, 2018 2:58 pm

Dragon is a Kaiju that appeared in the 1987 film, "Princess From The Moon" and that a lot of people has misconceptioned with Nessie. This Kaiju is one of My favourite Kaijus of the Showa Series.

By The Way, Dragon is Actually 100m long. Check here to learn more: https://wikizilla.org/wiki/Dragon

The prop used to bring him to life was actually built back in 1978 for Toho’s unmade Nessie film.
Formerly Kaijucole in 2006.

The thing about the Dragon prop being a repurposed Nessie prop is a myth. The prop would have been a decade old and it actually looks nothing like the Nessie prop. I believe I read somewhere that Teruyoshi Nakano was inspired by a Nessie prop he made when creating one for the Dragon, not sure how true that is, but there isn't any evidence that the Dragon actually is the Nessie prop.

I haven't seen the movie, either. The dragon's head looks very sauropod like to me.
Kaiju are just like people- giant, radioactive people.

Megalon went into a bar and saw Gigan. Megalon said, " Again? I thought you gave this up."
" What can I say," Gigan asked. " I'm hooked."

They shouldn't have used the harpoons.

Scuttlebutt has been that the prop used for the dragon was the same one Toho FX dude, Teruyoshi Nakano, had built for the sadly unmade Toho/Hammer joint production, NESSIE. While it wasn't the same prop used in Princess, Nakano did use the design for the rampaging Nessie as the basis for the water dragon featured in PFTM. Watching the clip, it gives us a taste of what could've been if NESSIE had got made.
