what happens to Gamera's hands when he flys?

i'm on part 2 of the gamera trilogy and i just noticed that when he flys with only his legs inside his shell his hands disappear. dafaq? he has outstretched flapper arms like regular turtles have, but where did the claws and fingers go?

also, the picture i posted isn't exactly like what i'm seeing in the film.

I guess that his claws & fingers have disappeared inside the flappers. It is a strange visual for me as well to see Gamera fly in this manner as I'm so used to seeing him flying like a spinning disc

In either G2 or G3, you see a quick shot of Gamera's arms morphing back to normal after he lands. The "flaps" on the underside of his arms recede, and his elbow spikes jut out.

HOLY SHIT GAMERA JUST BLEW HIS OWN HAND OFF!!!

I LOVE how Gamera's arms turn into flippers. They filmed it in such a clever way too. You only see brief moments where he goes from land to sky mode. A lot of it is obscured by the steam produced by his jets and cool camera angles and cuts.

Pinwheel = more control but slower.

Flipper mode = Faster but harder to turn.
