So has anyone here bought the movie from cheapdvdpacks.com? I wonder if copies from that site have the giant subtitle issue on the extras just like the replacements Mill Creek sent out.

The copy I bought from FYE a while ago seems okay. I haven't seen the whole thing, but I saw a good deal of it and the only subtitles that are missing are a couple during the scene when Ayana's father is carrying her to the car.

Mine has arrived as well. I managed to skim through the special features, and it seems like they fixed the probably with the gi-normous subtitles.

I wonder, how many free copies of Gamera 3: Revenge of Iris could we get if we keep sending in cover slips? There doesn't seem to be anything on them to distinguish the fixed copies from the messed up ones.

So the subtitle problem has been addressed? I wonder if those of us who sent in our original copy for the updated ones that ended up having subtitle issues for the special features are able to send in that disc as well? I may have to make a call sometime.

Today I received a replacement for my replacement. This new disc has fixed subtitles for the main movie and for the behind-the-scenes footage. I didn't even request the new disc; they must be sending it out to everyone who got the version with kaiju-sized subtitles.

Had you sent your disc in to get the fixed movie subtitles or have you not sent in/requested anything at all? Just curious.

I had requested and received the first replacement, but not the second.

Interesting. I did the same, so hopefully I get a fancy third copy!

Mill Creek has provided an update regarding their corrected GAMERA 3 Blu-rays. Check out SciFi Japan for answers to the most frequently asked questions about Mill Creek’s disc replacement program…

I didn't get one. So guess I'll be mailing another cover back in. It's nice they're going out of their way to fix things though. Hope their eventual Majin sets aren't like this though.

I'm curious about the video quality of the Blu-Rays. The main site's review says they're decent, but not great. Could someone give comparison shots between the ADV releases and the Blu-Rays?

Easily superior to those, but that's Blu-Ray for ya. Can't go wrong for the price.

It's taken from film prints of movies made in the 1990s. Being a budget company of a sort, they obviously can't afford the best transfers or restore the films much, but the quality is still fantastic. Well worth picking up, especially at the price they go for.

The only real downside to them is the low bitrate.

What is the 'bitrate'?

It's basically how much data is used to store the information for one second of audio or video. The higher the bitrate, the more information there is for each second and so the higher the quality.

So, does Tamura just mean that the Blu-Rays aren't as good as they COULD be?

Basically. They're damn good though, in my opinion.
