Old Tokyo Monsters downloadable subtitles

Postby Tim85 » Mon Aug 29, 2011 7:32 pm

I know the website address has been posted here but I can't find them, so here's the direct approach.

What the site address that has the downloadable subtitles from James Ballard's old website Tokyo Monsters? I would like to get the R1 ones for my laptop now that I got it back.

Thanks ahead of time.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

you can thank me now:)

Thank you! I can't wait to put them back on my computer.

Edit: Just tried, the only R1 that wasn't up was for GvsMG2.

Yeah, the GvsMK2 titles are there. You just need to go back a little farther in time.

Stupid question: how do you do that? Or is that just a joke?

WayBackMachine is an odd animal. Sometimes files work, other time they don't. For instance, GvsKG doesn't work anymore, but I'm sure it'll work again. I think I'll see if I can't find a place to host these files. I'm surprised this place hasn't.

ARRRRRGGGH! Now that I got them downloaded, the volume doesn't work on any on them! And I have both volumes on max. I almost ready to give up.

Did you follow the instructions exactly to insert them ? You probably accidentally deleted the audio files or disabled them .

Why not just rip your existing DVDs and turn the subtitle files into SRTs to watch on the computer or better yet , author a new disc from the ripped files. Why waste the time to screw around with the exsitng disc when you are gonig to jsut make another one anyways? Just only have it have a simple menu with your languages and subtitles and you'll be on your way.

There's an above bar that can be exited out which shows all of the recorded dates of the site's recorded history. Just mouse over it and find the date. :D

When I open the file, it asks to open or save, I save to my desktop. It takes a second to download. When I open the file and hit play, every plays fine except no volume. I'm not sure where to go to find the audio files to see if I deleted or disabled them. All I want is to watch it on my laptop, that is all. I'm curious too if anyone else has had the same problem with a newer computer.

So it's for desktop use?

Did the video files play the volume before they had the subtitles with them ? The common problem with encoding or ripping DVD media is that people accidentally do not include the audio itself or the encoder itself was glitched. Did you dl them from the net or rip them? It's far better to just rip the film whole ,aside from feeling good that you supported the official release, by yourself using software such as Handbrake than depending on the inconsistent quality that is offered on the internet that way you can control it.

Please give me more details , like if you're playing the disc's raw file's outright or if they are encoded. If it's the former, find a program that will play the folder , which will play the DVD's files as if they were the actual disc. But if it's the latter and if you have the disc, rip it again . If not , buy it and rip it.

Are your speakers working? Sometimes the sound driver screws up on Windows related hardware where you would have to do a MacGuyver to it. If they are working , then the video files are corrupt and you should scan your computer for viruses and other malwares.

But what computer and Operating System (Mac or Windows, version?) do you have?

This could be a software problem from what I can gather, but I need more info.

I use Windows 7 on my laptop (which is a Lenovo) and I have the DVD subber program. And I downloaded the DVD subber, not for DVD-R.

What I do is: I put the DVD in the laptop, I double clip the desktop icon, it brings up a window that has the sub file (for example GvsMG2). I open that, which brings up the DVD subber menu with the tiny viewing screen below it. I click play, it changes the visual elements to Windows 7 basic (when I close out it returns to Windows Aero) and then begins to play the movie but no volume. I even hooked up speakers and nothing.

The reason I bring this up is because I had it downloaded on my old laptop, which ran Windows XP, and they all ran just fine. I just wanted to do it with my new laptop. It's not that big of a deal, I just want to know what's going on.

It's a software issue then . What software is it exactly? Is it BSPlayer, is it RealPlayer? Why not check their website?

It seems that it could be a fundamental problem with your OS if it changes each time that DVD subber software runs because that has never happened with my Windows 7 computer when I have used it . This is exactly why I switched to Apple's Mac OSX so you don't have to deal with Windows pulling this crap of screwing their customer base continuously. Once you are done with that laptop go for a Macbook Air and dualboot it with 7 to keep your software.

Thanks for adding the Way Back Machine link so I could also grab the subtitle files. I'm converting my entire Godzilla collection to digital soon and figured now is the perfect time to add better subtitles. I'm building a Windows Home Server which I'm going to stream to a Western Digital Live Hub (hopefully a new model will be released around the holidays) and watch everything on my 42" Samsung. Now I just have to decide if I should burn the subtitles directly into the movie, or have them selectable so I can turn them on or off.
