Agreed. DVD doesn't even get close to that level of detail.

I hopped on the blu-ray bandwagon quickly, even though I only owned an (decent) SD television set. The visual improvements were still apparent (especially in the blacks and big fields of color). Now I've got a small 19" HD set, and I prefer to watch a blu-ray on that than to watch anything on my old 30".

I bought the DVD to go along with my BD because it's more convenient.

I've got a laptop with a BD player and a 1080p display. I didn't when I placed the order, though. I'm probably going to switch over to Blu-Rays soon though, my parents got me the dual-format pack of Super 8 and the BD looks nothing short of amazing.

It was mentioned in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly in the DVD section and they gave it a A-. Thought that was pretty cool.
I was mentioned in the SciFi Japan article about the appearence of extras on the Godzilla vs. Megalon DVD.

That's cool. Could you scan it? Would that be allowed?

I really like combo packs because I have that Blu for at home theater experience and the DVD for my portable player, so having one of each comes in really handy.

Decided to just get this on Blu, though, so when I'm on the go I can just go back to my Classic Media disc.

Funny you mention it, because mine arrived on my doorstep a day early! I'm watching it right now.

Wow, the picture...you guys are going to be blown away.

Tomorrow afternoon? Wow. Usually takes 2 to 3 days after the release date for me. I forget, are there shipping options on pre-orders?

Anyway, I'm excited for this. I only got the DVD, but I'm still mad psyched.

There are. But if you pre-order, don't be a sucker; go for two day shipping instead of one. They both arrive on the day of release (and if you're lucky, a day early). I made that mistake for a long time. So much money down the drain on shipping.

Did you look at the soft rubber pads under Godzilla's arms?

I guess it depends on personal taste, but I personally don't care too much about the packaging.

Hopefully my package will come today. Personally, I think the packaging is very cool and unique, one of the best ever for a Godzilla release with a very nice pop up.

Funny...I feel the exact opposite.

Now for what's on the disk itself, now that I'm very much excited about.

I'm not as excited for this as I should be, mainly because our only Bluray player is our PS3 and it's currently being worked on by my brother in law. We got the yellow light of death, and he's taking it apart to try to fix it. He's had luck with such repairs in the past, so I'm hoping we can get the parts in soon.

Ha. I did note that some of the special effects lose something in Hi-Def, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of the movie.

The interviews were fantastic though. However, Kalat's commentary was weaker than the Classic Media offerings. His tangent rant of the pronunciation of Gojira vs. Godzilla was obnoxious, and ultimately the original commentaries had more interest value.

As for the packaging, the only issue I had is that it got squished in the mail. But I was more than happy with the disc to care.

I don't mind it. They just used the wrong Godzilla that's all. The rest of it is cool with me
