During the United Nations like meeting in the Japanese version, the International actors are dubbed in Japanese but are originally speaking English. So my dream was that they can take that audio from the International version and "restore" it back in the Japanese cut.

Gotcha. That sounds like an awesome idea actually. I'm sure Tamura would be up for it at some point. :D

Actually, I was planning on doing that myself without Tamura's help. Just need the International print, only have the Japanese one.

Sure. Do you mind if it's PAL speed, or do you want me to slow it down for you?

Also, this is kind of relevant to the thread, but I color-corrected Toho's HD transfer of MOTHRA VS. GODZILLA and it looks impeccable.

Finally, the Heisei series...

GODZILLA (THE RETURN OF GODZILLA)

Disk 1
-HD transfer of the international version for the better part of the film (the Toho HD transfer is discolored beyond correction during some points)
-Japanese and international versions through seamless branching
-Japanese stereo and mono plus English mono. Also, a remixed stereo English track based on the Japanese stereo
-Isolated score
-International trailer and any other international materials, including materials from the film's release in territories that didn't receive the US version
-Audio gallery of miscellanea
-Early scripts/treatments
-Press conference videos
-All extras featured on the R2, along with any other behind the scenes features and promotional materials that can be found

Disk 2
-US theatrical version utilizing the Monsters HD transfer with missing sound effects and subtitles restored
-Optional BAMBI MEETS GODZILLA short attached to the film
-Mono and remixed stereo using stereo music and sound effects elements
-Commentary featuring one or two Japanese film experts and/or anybody who worked on the US version
-Trailers, TV and radio spots
-Photo gallery of posters, lobby cards, stills, pressbooks and other materials from the US release and releases in territories that received the US version
-Music video
-Dr. Pepper commercials
-Siskel and Ebert review
-Either an isolated score or an audio gallery and guide to the stock tracks

GODZILLA VS. BIOLLANTE

Disk 1:
-Sharpness, contrast and color-corrected Toho HD transfer for the better part of the film (or an HD transfer of an international print if it looks superior)
-Japanese and international versions (plus maybe an extended version) through seamless branching
-Japanese stereo plus English mono and a remixed English stereo track based on the Japanese stereo
-Isolated score (the music as it appears in the film, and in stereo unlike the Perfect Collection)
-International trailer(?) and any other international materials, including materials from the film's release in non-US territories
-Audio gallery of miscellanea (including the unedited suites and Ostinato cues)
-Early scripts/treatments
-All extras featured on the R2
-Any promotional materials not on the R2

Disk 2:
-Abridged tape of the international version with alternate dubbing
-Any behind the scenes features that have not already been mentioned

How can we know what The Return of Godzilla's colours are supposed to look? Every version I've seen has a completely different tone. Toho HD looks way too yellow/brown at times. MonstersHD while more natural, looks too blue in some scenes (mostly the nighttime footage), and the Hyper lasers don't look so red.
Every film should have at least one animal attack.

I think the colors on the MHD version look about accurate, when you consider that the US version's prints were in Technicolor, which doesn't fade, and going by other MHD transfers, they're more trustworthy when it comes to color than Toho Video, who is consistently mediocre in that respect (don't get me wrong, their GHIDORAH, BIOLLANTE, and SPACEGODZILLA HD transfers are almost perfect). The Toho HD version actually looks extremely blue during one scene (the meeting between the Japanese, US and Soviets). That doesn't happen very often in Toho transfers. Plus, the UK tape of G84 has similar color to the MHD transfer.

The "Technicolor that doesn't fade" that you are thinking of is the Technicolor dye-transfer printing process (sometimes also referred to as Technicolor IB), which was discontinued in the USA in about 1974, with a short lived revival from 1997-2001. "Godzilla 1985", although the prints may have been printed at Technicolor's labs, was certainly not printed in dye-transfer. In any case, the process used for the release prints wouldn't tell one anything about the color of a video transfer anyway, as film-to-video transfers or scans are generally not done from release prints, and the actual grading/timing of the color and contrast would be in the hands of the colorist.

I have one European video release which favors a greenish hue in most scenes. This release also wasn't matted as much as others so when the JSDF soldier is on fire, you can clearly see the top and bottom of the backdrop screen he was filmed in front of!

Anyway, more DVD releases neither the DVD companies nor the fans will be able to produce because nothing meets Toho's approval unless the former's DVDs end up being R2 clones and because the latter is completely unable to cooperate with the hoarders who make museums out of their homes whilst showing completely unwarranted self importance in their posts:

GODZILLA VS. MOTHRA

Disk 1:
-Transfer of the print Sony used for their HD transfer
-Japanese and international versions (plus maybe an extended version) through seamless branching
-Japanese stereo plus English mono and a remixed English stereo track based on the Japanese stereo
-Isolated score
-International trailer and any other international materials, including materials from the film's release in non-US territories
-Audio gallery of miscellanea
-All extras featured on the R2
-Any promotional materials not on the R2

Disk 2:
-Same specifications as disk 2 of KING GHIDORAH, plus the TV special

GODZILLA VS. MECHAGODZILLA

Disk 1:
-Transfer of Sony's print of the international version
-Japanese, international and extended versions through seamless branching
-Isolated score
-International trailer(?) and any other international materials, including materials from the film's release in non-US territories
-Audio gallery of miscellanea
-All extras featured on the R2
-Any promotional materials not on the R2

Disk 2:
-Same specifications as disk 2 of KING GHIDORAH

GODZILLA VS. SPACEGODZILLA

Disk 1:
-Same specifications as MECHAGODZILLA's disk 1

Disk 2:
-Same specifications as MECHAGODZILLA's disk 2, minus the Ifukube scoring video

GODZILLA VS. DESTROYER

Disk 1:
Same specifications as SPACEGODZILLA's disk 1, but with the CNN report and Godzilla's "funeral"

Disk 2:
Same specifications as MECHAGODZILLA's disk 1

GODZILLA 2000: MILLENNIUM

Disk 1:
-Japanese and international versions through seamless branching from a transfer resembling Sony's DVD of the US version or something slightly better
-International trailer(?) and materials
-Isolated score
-All of the best extras from the R2 set

Disk 2:
-US theatrical version, with cheezy "THE END...?" title restored. Either from Sony's original DVD transfer or a new, better one.
-Audio commentary by Schlesinger and friends
-Trailers and tv spots for the film's US theatrical and home video releases
-Photo gallery of materials having to do with the US version
-Either an isolated score or an audio gallery and guide to the newly created music cues from the US version

GODZILLA VS. MEGAGUIRUS - GODZILLA: FINAL WARS

Disk 1:
-Japanese and international versions seamlessly branched using mainly the Sony transfers
-International trailer(?) and materials
-Isolated score
-Some extras from the R2, including trailers and promotions

Disk 2:
-Best of the rest of the R2 extras

Do you mean Baradagi?

And sets like these would be incredible, even if they were bootlegs. God knows a fan or group of fans with enough dedication could do something great.
