That's the funny part. Legion is so against bootlegs, but he doesnt care if someone gets the shaft as long as he gets the movie.

I though endorse buying the legit copy - IF IT'S WORTH IT - and if Megs is a barebone release, it's not worth it & Gamera the Brave wasnt worth it.

Anyone here buy the DVD DAM and have problems with it freezing up? I want to get this version but am very reluctant due to reading many complaints on Amazon.com about some of the DVD's being defective.

I believe a newb made a thread about that, but refused to try more then 1 DVD player.

Have you tried more then one player?

He hasn't bought the disk yet apparently, in fear they that may have that problem.

It's something that's only a problem with some of the discs, and even then, it's probably the player more than anything. Passing up on it entirely for that reason is just silly. Not like you couldn't just get Amazon to send you a replacement if it had the same problem on a ton of players.

Some DVDs have issues on Blu-Ray players. My BRD player has issues with my double-sided Dune DVD but my XBOX360 doesnt.

Buy it, H-Man. If the disc sucks, back it up to your computer and burn a copy.

My DAM DVD copy works fine, I didn't have any problems when I watched it.

What is the problem with GAMERA THE BRAVE, assuming you're talking about Media Blasters' release of it? The only problem I found with it was the fact the music was missing from the trailer, and the apparent lack of English version credits.

I doubt that Kadokawa made a version with English credits.

Actually, I've never seen an international version for any Gamera film, from any era. I'm sure the releases of the Showa films in the Philippines had them, but none of those ever got home video releases in the U.S.

It's a single disc movie with nothing extra. It's $18 on Amazon.com. The bootleg is 3 DVD and 1 CD from the R2 in an amazing hard card foil case and its $35.

To me, that's not worth $18. If pay $18 for a 3 DVD/1 CD set like the R2. But the bootlegger is offering me more.

People shouldn't be faulted if they want to buy a product that's actually legal.

Personally, I don't think Gamera, the Brave is the sort of the movie I'd want to pay more than $18 for, nor do I care much about behind the scenes stuff. I bought the MB disc and I'm fine with it.

There is actually a documentary and trailers on The Gamera the Brave DVD. While I'm sure the bootleg with three discs has more extra content, the release was hardly barebones.

Huh? $35 for a bootleg? There's nothing that justifies such price, and I think that seller is an unscrupulous twat.

I would say the same if it wasnt a direct boot from the 3 DVD 1 CD set from Japan. And the seller Im talking about used card inserts, foil inserts and higher quality stuff then a inkjet movie poster paper insert in a slim DVD case.

Sorry, that's not what I meant. There were no credits added by Media Blasters with information about the dubbed version, such as voice actors, etc. The only voice actors I know who were in the dub are the ones I specifically recognized.

I would say generally not worth more than $30.

I love how wataru says that a legit product that a licensee has to actually pay money to make, distibute and market "isn't worth it" at $18 while an illegal copy that's basically just a DV-R, a plastic case and xeroxed artwork is somehow worth $35. Apart from buying copies of the films they're illegally copying, how much does it cost a bootlegger to make the crap they sell?

That's ridiculous. You can get high quality bootlegs direct from the R2 for $10-$15.

Sorry, $18 for GtB is too much for a single disc DVD with 1 documentary and a trailer. $35 for a direct copy of the R2 3 DVD / 1 CD is much better. If a legit copy of the 3 DVD/1 CD set came out in R1, Id buy it. But it didnt, so I'll get it somewhere else. And since I dont care to track down someone in Japan selling it and hoping I get raped like G2K did with his Ghiddy figure, I'll g with a bootleg.
