I know you and Keith didn't say anything of the such. But then again, I wasn't replying to you. I was replying to Frank. But fine, he didn't say anything of the sort. I mistook his comment.

Frank wasn't even telling you what to do, Evan. He was telling you an inevitability.

Exactly.

I dont wanna get cynical here, but take collecting Godzilla stuff, for instance. We cant keep our collections while we're dead. So one day we will have get rid of all that stuff. When I'm an old man, on my last legs, I'd like to sell my collection to help pay for the expenses my death would incur (funeral costs, debts, house payments, whatever) and whats left can go to my family. Of course I'll probably give some things to my grand kids, and maybe donate some to charity, but the majority of that collection is just gonna get sold. Thats the reality of it. But I'm perfectly fine with that, because I'll always be a Godzilla fan, with or without my collection, and I'll treasure it in the meantime. Besides, I'll have probably grown out of collecting Godzilla figures by then. You dont need shelves filled with Bandai figures and stacks of DVDs to be a Godzilla fan. =)

Now, we've gotten ridiculously off-topic here, so lets just end it here, huh?

I didn't say it was realistic. What me and Kate do in my psychotic mind is pure magic.

I wrote a letter and plan to print it off and send it to Echo Bridge.

I would like the other members to judge my letter before I send it.

Here it is:

Dear Echo Bridge,
I am aware that Echo Bridge has acquired the rights to release select Miramax titles on home video. I am writing because of one of these titles in particular, Godzilla vs. Biollante, is a title I am truly hoping gets released on DVD.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is a Japanese science-fiction film; part of the famous Godzilla-series of films. Miramax originally released this film on VHS in 1992. Needless to say, the VHS is out-of-print. Thus, it can be difficult to find.

I would like to request what I want from this DVD; if it ever to be released.
There is an “international” version of Godzilla vs. Biollante, and this was the film that was released on VHS in 1992. The original Japanese version had many instances of English-spoken dialogue, and thus the Japanese version had Japanese subtitles for the Japanese movie-going public. These Japanese subtitles were removed from the “international” version, because this version was to be released in English language markets. As well, the film was dubbed into English.

What I would really want for this release is the “international” print to be utilized. For the audio I would like the English dub to be used as well as the Japanese audio to be an option on the DVD.

I would like there to be English-language subtitles that correspond to the Japanese language audio. This is important because Toho does provide English subtitles for English language film releases of their Japanese-language films. However, these subtitles are very “hit and miss” in terms of quality. Sometimes they are accurate, other times the subtitles are word-for-word transcripts of the English dub. This can be detrimental because dubbing has to compromise the original meaning of the foreign script to better accommodate lip-synch.

If Echo Bridge would be willing to hire a translator to translate the Japanese language audio for English subtitles, I would be a very satisfied customer.

I know that some of my request may seem unreasonable and may take some time to accomplish. However, Godzilla vs. Biollante is a highly-acclaimed film among fans of the Godzilla films, and due to the VHS being out-of-print and the movie never getting an official DVD release it is even more sought after, and fans have wanted a DVD for this film for a very long time. If Echo Bridge had to make the DVD more expensive to accommodate my requests, than I would gladly pay more; and I am sure other Godzilla fans would as well. If Echo Bridge handled this film with care and respect, and truly made a great DVD, I would have high hopes for the company’s future, and gladly buy more of their products if they continued to have a good standard of quality.

I'd strike the hyphen from "Godzilla-series" and shorten the suggestions regarding the video sources and subtitles. I think there's a bit more explanation in there than is needed. Otherwise, it looks very good.

Looks good. I will be send in one based heavily on your letter but am not positive this is the right address and haven't proofread it so I'll look into that later. It appears omgitsgodzilla shared my opinion on some of the changes I'm personally going to make to the letter.

Dear Echo Bridge Home Entertainment,

My name is *insertnamehere*. I understand that Echo Bridge has acquired the rights to release select Miramax titles on home media for region one customers (Canada and the United States of America). I am writing because of one of these titles in particular, Godzilla vs. Biollante, is a title I (and many fans) am truly hoping gets released on DVD and Blu-Ray. Godzilla vs. Biollante is a Japanese science-fiction film and part of the famous Godzilla franchise. Miramax originally released this film on VHS in 1992. Needless to say, the VHS is out-of-print, and being on VHS it's a media format that is out of date in the contemporary world. Thus, it can be difficult to find and again is a format that few people still use.

Many of the fans would support English language subtitles that correspond to the Japanese language audio.

Godzilla vs. Biollante is a highly acclaimed film among fans of the Godzilla films and Japanese science fiction, and due to the VHS being out-of-print and the movie never getting an official DVD or Blu-Ray release it is even more sought after. Fans have wanted a DVD/Blu-Ray for this film for a very long time. Unfortunately, some fans have even gone to the lengths of purchasing bootleg versions of the movie in order to see it on a contemporary format. If Echo Bridge gave this film the appropriate treatment, the fan base can be expected to respond in kind and pay for it. Thank you for any consideration.

Sincerely,

I wrote a few letters to Echo Bridge shortly after they released their atrocious Halloween: H20 Blu-Ray. I got nothing back... even though it seems less 'professional', you're much more likely to recieve a reply to an e-mail than letter.

Given the way Echo Bridge are releasing their Mirimax titles, I wouldn't be surprised to see this film get a release on DVD or Blu, but I can virtually garuntee it will be barebones with a terrible transfer. That's EB all over.

This needs a DVD release. Pronto! Same goes to Godzilla 1985, which is the only one I believe I've never seen.

I want the international dub, because It's tiresome for me to read subtitles. I don't want to read dialogue, I want to watch the movie.

Douglas, if Echo Bridge releases BIOLLANTE it will be under very different conditions than their other titles. For the Miramax films they're working with whatever materials Miramax provides, which in some cases are old transfers that aren't under to current standards. But Miramax couldn't find their materials for BIOLLANTE, so Echo Bridge would need a new copy in order to do a DVD or Blu-ray release. They called me and I put them in touch with Toho's LA office. I have no idea if Echo Bridge can make a deal or how long that might take, but I do know they were asking for a new HD transfer from Toho.

I think GvsB would be a bigger seller on DVD and BRD then DAM and GvsMegs.
