The answer doesn't change. This would not be a release with early copies sent out for review. You'll unfortunately have to wait until someone buys it or you pick it up yourself.

Wow, so much for having it on the day of release. Why not just make it's release date like Oct 5th if they couldn't get into people's hands on the 2nd? It's not like any stores will be selling physical copies.

Received Sony’s new Blu-ray of Battle in Outer Space.

-It’s a pressed disc. Simple menu design, no scene select screen.

-Includes Japanese and English audio with English subtitles, as well as English SDH. Unfortunately, they’re dubtitles.

-Print is the Columbia version. Columbia opening, english titles, etc. It does not include the Toho version like the DVD did. Only the Japanese audio.

-Quality is fair, not perfect but it looks fine to me.

I fucking told you so.

I honestly feel really bad for the folks who bought this to replace their DVD, this is a pretty big downgrade.

I thought the previous release showed the only difference was the title cards (between the Japanese & English versions). So if the picture is all right and the sound is as solid as before we might have something here. The missing commentary and price tag are obviously detriments. And its disappointing the dubtitles stuck though realistically we couldn't expect much more there.

I just thought it should be known that while the print is indeed only the American version thus no original Japanese text credits or The End title card, and while its English subtitles are still only captions for the English dub despite including the original Japanese audio, the audio commentary from the Icons of Sci-Fi: Toho Collection DVD is indeed included in this Blu-ray. It was not omitted.

Finally got my copy from amazon today. It’s a bummer that only the US titles are included and the subs are dubtitles, but the picture quality is superb. Glad the audio commentary survived in tact too!

The German release is without a doubt the superior of the two, but I’m glad to see this print get an official release of some kind here in the states.

Watched this the other day and was still pretty underwhelmed with the movie, but the presentation was pretty decent, dubtitles and lack of Japanese visuals notwithstanding.

Honestly, the most irritating thing about the dubtitles for me is that the dub takes so many liberties with the placement of lines. I can usually live with dubtitles, but when it's that obvious, it really bugs me. Even then, though, I'd be content to just watch the movie dubbed except that the dub replaces a bunch of Ifukube's music.

Unless you’re really desperate for BiOS on Blu-Ray and don’t have the far superior German release or a high quality bootleg, not worth it at all.

As far as a boutique label getting it? Not likely.
