i just spent the last hour or so going through that vhs article, and man does that bring back some memories! even some of the 'dino collection' videos i had growing up, and scrolling through was like taking a trip back to the old cardboard box fulla godzilla tapes. awesome article.

also, looks like i've got a couple of the weirder ones in my collection from way back when. pretty cool.

..That's really not that bad. Other than the flipped Hedorah eye (which was also on the back of the U.S. release by Orion of SMOG MONSTER), and the cybot Godzilla being on the border, I don't see what's so bad about it other than giving away the ending.

Dogora, are you aware that you linked to a completely different image there?

I'm sorry, but when you were talking about the Simitar releases, do you mean these?

If you were, then I don't get the deal why, I absolutely love the artwork on all of these, especially Terror of Mechagodzilla. :?

Nah, we were talking about this horrendous early 90s tape, which has been removed from it's image hosting site.

I kinda like the Godzilla, King of the Monsters cover. The Godzilla depicted is very similar to his "Cybot" version.

It's based off of a publicity photo of the Cybot Godzilla, except that they added these extremely awkward looking arms into the photo, which make it look he doesn't even have shoulders!

The KING OF THE MONSTERS cover even added the jets..

A lot of these aren't so much bad as oddly misleading. The "Kong vs. Godzilla" Goodtimes art is one of those deals where they are selling you a completely different movie on the cover than the one inside it.

This Goodtimes VHS for the 1954 Godzilla is just atrocious, though I'll admit I giggled at the ''Army of Darkness'' esque ''Hail to the King''!

I love looking at these covers good and bad ones alike. They bring back such feelings of nostalgia.

This in my opinion is one of the worst VHS covers i've ever seen:http://www.tohokingdom.com/articles/images/boxart_kkvsg_westcoast.htm

Heh, I think it's unique how they combined both artwork from their respective films.

I agree with Destroyer. It may not be the best "photo-shop" work, but it's not particularly ugly or inaccurate.

I love how Kong is able to stand on top of people without crushing them.
