Thats the same question I would ask about a Pokemon losing.

Its been awhile since I last seen Jacksepctieye played that game, but if I could remember, considering that Trico didn’t stood a chance against another Trico, I dunno if he would last long against a Kaiju, even if it’s a physical fighter like Gomess. Then again, I would need to rewatch The Last Guardian when I have the time.

YA, we DO need to add those guys, considering they were innocent in the game. (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)
as for Trico's fighting style, I think that was due to the fact that he was young. been a while since I read about him, and those other Tricos WERE undermind-control, maybe that's why they fought better. perhaps the Trico species are naturally peaceful, like a certain orange dinosaur.
