Obviously quite late to comment on this, but oh well. Super looking forward to both the match teased by ShinGojira14 and the one teased by Birdman.

Anyway...
Spoiler:
Orb, once again in Spacium Zeperion form, was instantly struck with anxiety as he saw Earth in detail from orbit. Hurricanes coated the planet like sores, and the usual shining lights of civilization were blank on the half of the world at nighttime. Even from so high up, the guardian could tell natural disasters had ravaged the surface. Black clouds that could only come from volcanic eruptions, coastlines shrunk by tidal waves, and fractures from earthquakes were only visible to him because of his immensely powerful eyes. But as powerful as his vision was, to even be able to see them from space at all meant that the scale of the disasters was colossal.

He descended towards the United States, searching for answers.

Where to go first? His immediate guess was a major city. Orb realized this had flaws, for he doubted civilization was functioning at the moment on the devastated world. But he pushed his doubts away, for otherwise he would be blindly searching. With all these storms, he figured not many people were left near coasts.

He briefly struggled to remember a major city not near the ocean. Phoenix, Arizona popped into his mind, and, lacking many options, decided to try his luck by going there.

It was around this time he noticed, somewhere still high in the atmosphere, that there was one hurricane far greater in scale than the rest. It hung over Mexico and the U.S. south like a black shroud, towering into the heavens. It appeared to twirl slowly due to its sheer bulk despite having winds that were easily in the hundreds of kilometers per hour.

Something in the guardian’s gut told him he’d find the cause of all this at the center of the superstorm.

As Phoenix came into view, Orb was greeted by the sight of a metropolis in ruin. Large portions of the city were demolished, piles of rubble being almost equal in number to standing buildings. A storm raged overhead, making flood waters fill the streets, the liquid turned into a filthy slosh by all the debris and dirt within it.

And at the edge of the destruction and tearing into what was still intact was a titanic animal, a brown furred mammal. Massive tusks jutting from its face bashed through a building, sending a cascade of rubble falling into the raging waters. Muscular forelimbs smashed into another structure, sending its rubble flying towards a crowd of fleeing people.

There was no hesitation for the guardian of light as he landed behind Behemoth, then let out a shout to draw attention to him. The mammalian titan turned, recoiling slightly at the strange being before him. Orb rushed forwards, closing the distance with a punch against the titan’s face. Behemoth backpedaled, crying out in shock. He growled, before swinging his head to the side, bashing one of his tusks into the guardian’s side. Orb staggered away, but remained on his feet.

You can tell what kind of mood I'm feeling in...
Spoiler:
Across the many Megadecks of the Astro Megaship, alarms blared loudly. The deafening chorus filled every room, corridor and service duct of the ship, making sure that all hands aboard knew that danger was afoot. One by one, the crew filed onto the bridge, where Alpha 6 was already waiting at the controls.

“Alpha, what’s the situation?” Andros asked the red robot.

“I wish I could give you an answer, Rangers,” Alpha replied. “I has just finished recalibrating the Megaship’s sensors and was performing a quick sweep, when nothing appeared on the scanner.”

The Rangers looked at each other with troubled expressions, unsure how to respond to the statement provided.

“That hardly sounds like a cause for alarm, Alpha,” Carlos said with a chuckle, chalking it up to one of the android’s “quirky” moments.

The others were more sympathetic to their crewmate’s plight. “Maybe you just miscalibrated something to cause the scanner to act up?” Cassie offered.

“My skills with machinery are the state-of-the-art, thank you very much,” Alpha huffed. His fingers tapped several buttons rapidly to bring up the scanner onto the viewing screen. “The systems are all functioning normally, but it’s nothing there. To be specific, something in the shape of nothing!”

“What?” Andros asked incredulously. Indeed, as the other Rangers turned to the screen, it did depict an unknown object, appearing as a jagged splodge of empty on the program, moving on a course towards the Megaship itself at a fast pace.

None of the Space Rangers could provide an excuse to what they were seeing. After all, if a robot capable of completing millions of calculations in seconds could not find an answer, how could they?

“That makes no sense,” T. J. protested. “How can something be made of nothing? It’s not possible.”

“Can you bring it up on screen, Alpha?” Carlos suggested to the droid.

“I will try. It should be within visual range at now.” Alpha tapped a few more buttons on the console, changing the image of the scanner to a view of the void outside. On the monitor, what appeared to be some kind of dinosaur embedded in a large cluster of white crystals soured effortless through space.

“Look at the size of it,” Ashley gasped in astonishment. Of course, the creature was barely taller than most of the monsters they’d battled in the past, but its massive girth and alien design made for an imposing sight.

“Looks like nothing that Astronema and Dark Specter could have cooked up,” Andros mused. He turned his attention back to Alpha 6. “You said that it wasn’t appearing on your scans, so why can we see it now?”

“The Megaship’s scanners work by detecting the energy or particles of any objects within range,” Alpha explained to the muddled Rangers. “Even if that fails, I can use the Morphin Grid’s power as an alternative, but DECA’s systems don’t recognise anything that this creature emits. It’s not in any known records!”

The Rangers looked back to the screen, observing the unknown monster’s current trajectory. Taking their places at the other consoles on the bridge, each one sent to work trying to analyse as much as they could about with the limitations sent upon them.

“It’s heading for Earth!” Ashley shouted from her station.

“Of course it is…” grumbled Carlos. “Why can’t these monsters go to Venus or something? No one would care.”

T. J. tapped away at his own console, accessing Ashley’s findings and compiling it with his own on the fly. “At the speed it’s going, it’ll reach the planet in minutes.”

“We aren’t going to let it,” Andros declared. His head turned to meet each of the other Rangers, who nodded in agreement, recognising his intention.

“Oh, my! Please be careful, Rangers!” Alpha called out as the team rushed out from the bridge, sprinting down the Megadeck’s corridor. In union, the five swung up their left wrists to brace forth their Astro Morphers, as Andros gave the command that sent terror into the hearts of all in the galaxy who followed the path of evil.

“Let’s Rocket!”

“3-3-5!”

Before the conqueror, the vast green landscapes and blue oceans stretched out in front of his eyes, as if begging to be plundered and subtigated by the great power he wielded. It would not be long before SpaceGodzilla breached the atmosphere, and from there, his mission of conquest and revenge could be carried to his pleasure.

Something caught his eye. He slowed down as he squinted, spying what appeared as a strange, off-colour section of ocean on the side of the planet directly before him. It wasn’t until the reptile got closer that he realised the “disturbance” was actually some kind of blue, ovular space station, hanging in orbit above the planet between it and him. He cocked his head, not recognising the design. Whilst in the thrall of the Vortaak, SpaceGodzilla had a long period of time to examine the orbital defences of the humans, and when his captors slipped their leash, destroyed several of them. But the new station was unfamiliar. Where had it come from?

He tensed up as the nose of the craft began to open, splitting apart and revealing a smaller shuttle docked within. With a metallic click, the ship detached and boosted away from the station, thrusters firing brightly as it appeared on a course straight for the galactic tyrant. SpaceGodzilla’s shell crackled and flashed with the fuel of stars, preparing to strike down the feeble human craft at a moment’s notice, when it suddenly turned back. It looped over itself, returning to the space station as quickly as it had undocked from it.

SpaceGodzilla laughed in amusement at their cowardice. Humans liked to put up a show of power, but when he flexed his cosmic power, they reverted to the spineless, disgusting worms that they were. Their little stunt show was but a small distraction to grant a few more precious seconds of life before-

Suddenly, SpaceGodzilla’s eyes widened as the ship began to shift and change. The outer section split down further into two sections, swinging down under the core, while the underside came up and forward along the main body’s sides. It no longer resembled a space station, but a massive, humanoid body.

“Astro Megazord, online!”

The shuttle soared towards the neck of the formation, hissing steam from sections along its hull as the shell swung up, transforming into a titanic, expressionless head. It lowered into place on the transformed Megaship, fully completing the configuration. The Astro Megazord flexed its new limbs, surging with the boundless energy of the Morphin Grid as SpaceGodzilla watched on with judging eyes.

@Birdman: OK, I am SUPER hyped for that.

This one might be dead for a bit (got a BIG one taking most of my priority) but thought i'd post a brief intro here.
Spoiler:
New York City. The City That Never Sleeps. A bustling metropolis of millions. It was a beautiful city, one that was hardy and always loud.

Or it once was.

Silence filled the great city. No one walked though the streets, cars stayed parked motionless on the street and the usually glistening lights laid dark. If one went further down the streets, they’d soon find evidence of the cause of this empty city. Crystals. Crystals made of pure glimmering ebony, dark emerald, blinding amber and cyan, which grew from streets, shattered buildings and all sat quietly, glowing faintly. Enter the center of the city and you’d find a fortress of crystals, culminating in the greatest achievement of the city, the Empire State Building, surrounded by crystals. And within this fortress, sat it’s ruler.

It was a true monster. A blue vaguely saurian body, streamlined and muscled in both ways. It’s back was covered in crystallic spines, culminating in them breaking though it’s shoulders into a massive pair of pylons and crowns upon it’s lithe tail and arched head. It’s mouth was rimmed and filled with fangs, which occasionally flickered with orange light. And while it currently slept, it’s eyes would have pierced any unfortunate soul, a controlled inferno with plans to use it on those it looked down upon. Spacegodzilla.

Spacegodzilla was silent, letting the power of his new fortress flow though him, only stirring as dreams only he knew passed. The crystal sultan’s mind suddenly stirred. His eyes shot open. He was not alone. Instantly, the demon uncurled himself, tail flexing and claws edged. He screamed out a warning. This was his realm now. Trespassing would result in death.

At first, it seemed nothing would respond but then a rumble filled the ground. A unfortunate building suddenly split in two, as a massive red pole shot though it. As the building fell apart in a shower of dust and rubble, the visage of a spider began to appear. Crawling though the dust revealed not a true giant spider but a machine, molded in the image. Massive foglights burned though the darkness of the night as All-Terriantula emerged. A flash in the sky foreshadowed the mecha’s ally. A blur happened as it crashed to the ground, fist slamming into the ground and cracking concrete. This machine was molded in blinding gold with the visage of a dinosaur as well. It’s form was only broken by the bafflingly amount of firepower on it. Cannons and missle launchers seemed to cover every non essential part of it’s body. It turned towards Spacegodzilla and despite it’s face being set in a black lens snarled, seemed to become more determined. Cybersaur slammed it’s fists together and followed All-Terriantula’s march to the giant.

Spacegodzilla snarled. His psychic mind scanned his foes, from their clicking metal joints to the trepidation of the pilots within. He felt no fear. He had clashed with worse then some mechanical mockeries of Earth life. He had taken on gods and kings, and always came out unscathed. He would enjoy ripping these apart. With a roar, Spacegodzilla attacked.

How this hasn't already been a thing is beyond me, but...

With a loud bellow, the Category 3 kaiju Knifehead emerged from the waves. Even though the breach was sealed, his last orders still were fixed in his brain. Destroy mankind. He waded to the land up ahead, kicking up a spray of water. But as he neared the beach, a deep bellow filled the air, and birds flocked away as something moved through the trees, bending and snapping them. Knifehead stopped and tilted his goblin shark-like head in confusion as the blade-headed Gurion waltzed out of the trees and bellowed a battle cry to Knifehead, who roared back and ran in.

Gurion surprised the invader by making a giant leap at him, blade aimed. Knifehead stepped to the side as quickly as he could, and Gurion splashed down where he once was. Knifehead lashed out with his claws, slicing a trio of cuts in his side, drawing purple blood. Gurion bellowed in pain before standing up on his hind legs and swinging his head, smacking Knifehead with the flat of his blade, knocking him off his feet. Gurion let himself fall, hoping to chop Knifehead in two. But the Category 3 kaiju rolled out of the way and the blade embedded itself into the ground. Guiron pulled his head out of the ground and jabbed at Knifehead, who had gotten up. The kaiju grabbed the blade, his claws cutting the thin layer of flesh covering it.

Spoiler:
The Dragon had climbed his way up Beacon Tower, his claws stabbing into the concrete with ease as he had pulled himself upwards like a lizard climbing a tree. With his sheer size and strength, it took just a moment for the immense Grimm to reach the top of the tower, where he could peer through the window to Professor Ozpin’s office.

And it was there that Cinder Fall now stood within. The Maiden, having bested Ozpin and feeling rather confident in herself, strode her way towards the window of the now vacant room. Normally the sight of an utterly gigantic Grimm peering at you through a window would be more than a little understandably terrifying for many. For Cinder, however, such an unsettling sight failed to wipe away the smile from her face.

“Shhhh...This is your home now,” Cinder spoke to the Dragon in a gentle, comforting tone, raising up her right hand as a fireball began to materialize in her palm. Never turning his gaze away from the maiden standing before him, the Wyvern let out a quieter screech as he seemingly began to relax. This land, once taken over and controlled by the prey he and his kin had an everlasting desire to exterminate, would be his to conquer. This would be his domain where he would be the presiding ruler, and all other monsters would bow to his might.

It was then both Cinder and the Dragon heard the roar. Piercing the night sky, it filled the air with a sense of power and bravado. The sound itself could best be compared to a rubber glove sliding over the strings of a violin. It was like nothing either of the two had ever heard.

Turning away from the Maiden, the Dragon looked out across Beacon Academy to locate the source of the roar. Almost at once, the Grimm’s eyes fell upon the leviathan making his way through the academy, the theropod-like kaiju’s own fiery orange eyes locked on the Dragon.

Stepping around the various buildings, disregarding the many smaller Grimm vainly attempting to slow down his progress, Zilla never took his glare off of the Dragon perched upon the tower. A low rumbling growl rising from his throat, the mutated iguana once more opened his mouth and let out a mighty bellow. It was a challenge. A challenge for the right to live. A challenge to decide who was the stronger of the two.

The Dragon let out a piercing shriek in return as he glared ominously at his newfound challenger. He had no intention of backing down from this newcomer. He’d fight to the death to earn his right as ruler of this land.

Leaping off from Beacon Tower, the Grimm Wyvern soared through the cold air as he flew at Zilla, the iguana snarling as he prepared himself for combat.

Cinder Fall looked upon the spectacle in utter bewilderment. All of her planning, all of her schemes and her preparation and foresight, none of it could have helped her with anticipating something as unprecedented as this. What was that strange new monster? Where had it come from? Did Salem know anything about it?

So bamboozled by the kaiju’s arrival was she, that Cinder only barely managed to glance behind herself and hastily dodge the throw spear coming at her. Fully turning around to face whoever had attempted to attack her, the Fall Maiden instinctively brought her arms up to block the incoming shield also tossed at her. Striking the caught shield with a flying kick, Pyrrha Nikos sprang away from her enemy, landing on her feet as she retrieved her weapons. Her smirk returning to her face, Cinder was more than happy to put Pyrrha in her place.

A fleet of spaceships moved through the cosmos, near a belt of asteroids. Primarily black and red, they looked sinister as the vast armada drew near to a planet. Even from space, it was obviously a plentiful and luxurious world.

If only its soon to be visitors were nearly as kind.

Amongst the ships moved hordes of towering machines. Most were angular and sharp bipeds, with red visors for eyes and drills for arms. Others were more humanoid, with orange and black skin. They also bore red visors instead of a set of eyes, and two crests sat atop their heads to complete their design as a mocking image of a brave hero.

The Legionoids would descend upon the world like a herd of locust, decimating all in sight. The Darclopses would wreak similar havoc, destroying whatever was able to resist the Legionoids with deadly precision. They would decimate the world, killing any lifeforms that were not abducted for slave labor and leaving nothing to stop the world from being plundered of resources until it was a worthless husk.

Standing upon one of the nearby asteroids, orange, narrow eyes watching with a sick pride, was this army’s leader. A bulky humanoid with a black and red body, his pointed fingers flexed as he waited for the carnage to begin.

Once, Ultraman Belial would have charged into battle to stop this horde, bravely putting his life on the line to defend the innocent. For he had been part of a legion dedicated to protecting those who could not protect themselves against the threats of the universe.

Until he had one moment of weakness, and was cast out into the cosmos to wander forever alone for it. Now he dedicated his life to conquest, to rule existence and make it his own. To make those who exiled him feel his pain, and cast them down from their pedestal.

Something landed behind him, drawing his gaze as he turned.

Before the fallen Ultra was a towering knight in shining armor, mostly silver with some gold highlights. He held a hand out, and suddenly a radiant sword manifested in his grip.

The gods had grown angry at Belial, for his atrocities and his unending hubris. He needed to be stopped, and mortalkind was seemingly unable to produce a warrior to permanently strike him down. So, the pantheon had chosen to intervene with the god of the sun, sending him down to purge the universe of this evil.

Utsuno Ikusagami would be happy to carry out the task.

Spoiler:
It had seemed like ever since the Second Impact came to pass, humanity was pushed further and further past their own limits. The impact itself had wiped the polar ice caps and most animals off the face of the Earth, the planet itself was forced onto its axis, and humanity itself was constantly being attacked by monsters they didn’t even know existed.

And yet, despite all the odds, all the adaptation that they had to endure, the human race refused to give up, and thus, fought monsters with their own: the Evangelion Units were born out of the energy of the first Angels, Adam and Lilith, and said energy was put into good use. The great machines were piloted by what all were called the “Three Children”. The blue EVA-00 was piloted by the First Child, Rei Amani, EVA-02 by Asuka Sohryu. But perhaps the most famous of all, EVA-01, brought to life by none other than the Third Child, Shinji Ikari. Through thick and thin, the three had made sure that humanity was always protected. Even when the beings inside the monsters came back to life and went berserk, backing down was no option. It was like humanity had found a new light, and were prepared for anything that came for them in the future.

Yet despite preparations for the future, they had completely forgotten about their past.

And in a world were some achievements they made only a couple decades ago were completely lost to time, something that had happened millions of years ago had almost no chance of surviving to the present day. An ancient terror once made Earth a living hell, slaughtering any creature that dared to get in his path. Something that was nothing more but evil incarnate. The personification of death. His green eyes could easily kill. It was the effort of tons of other monsters to lock him away in the deepest depths of the ocean, but it cost most of them their lives. Even before the Second Impact, people shrugged the tale off as just myth and legend.

Said “myth and legend” was slowly beginning to awaken.

Cat like eyes scanned the deep darkness of the sea, as it reached out towards it with a single, massive arm. After a minute of looking at the limb, he began to stand.

Any confusion that lingered in his mind was vanquished, and anger and vengeance quickly took control. He had no idea what the world looked like now, yet he sensed power from the monsters that lived within. As he summoned a vortex, he swam towards a volcano, using said vortex as his guide. Two races constantly fought for control, unaware of his presence. He promised himself that after all of this was over, they’d learn to fear him once more. Humans. Angels. It made no difference!

For all shall fall…. To the might of Lord Bagan.
BAGAN VS. EVANGELION

Also if the vortex thing didn't give it away, this is 1990 Bagan, not normal Bagan.

Spoiler:
November 3rd,1954. That was the year the world realized that humanity was only second rate. Godzilla was the first of many monsters that began to terrorize the world, born from the atomic bombs near the Bikini Atoll, the radioactive dinosaur slaughtered thousands in his wrath, and Tokyo was absolutely inhabitable. So much to the point that Japan’s capital had to be moved to Osaka, because the Japanese knew that Tokyo could never reach their former glory to ever even be considered a capital city ever again. Thankfully, despite what most thought, he wasn’t invincible. There was a weapon, a powerful weapon created by Dr.Serizawa that was launched down into the Pacific Ocean where the beast rested. In the ultimate sacrifice, Serizawa committed suicide, taking Godzilla and his weapon with him. However, this did not deter other monsters from finishing what he started. Only two years later came the Rodan couple, then Varan, then Mothra, the Mysterians, Dogora, Frankenstein and Baragon. This world has been absolutely trashed by monsters, and the resistance made to stop them only works so well. Yet, at the very least, the world could say that Godzilla himself was gone.

Or so they thought.

Godzilla was defeated, but he wasn’t dead. And yet, the Oxygen Destroyer had weakened him to such a point, that he could not even leave the Pacific Ocean, else humanity really would kill him. Since then he had been binding his time, waiting for the perfect moment to finally get revenge and strike back. He wasn't aware of how long he waited, since time was something he didn’t keep track of. But it was something his enemies kept doing.

His first attack was all the way back in 1954. Now, it was 1991. And it just so happened to be November 3rd, the 38th Anniversary. Any wound Serizawa made had healed, no longer did he feel frail, and his wrath had almost reached a breaking point. Human kind was no longer safe, and now, because of their foolish assumption, they shall meet their end!

A nuclear submarine cruised at the ocean floor, making its way back to the United States. It was on a spy mission in North Korean territory after reports of the nation building more nuclear missiles of its own. While it certainly seemed likely, the pilots were called back after finding out that none were being built as of late. The deep blue sea was astonishing to view, a reminder of how beautiful Mother Nature could be.

And in just thirty seconds, it would be ruined.

“Thoom. Thoom. Thoom.” The sounds of a giant's footsteps had been heard in the distance, followed upon by a blue light and shaking. Something had hit the ship with it’s incredibly long tail and had sent it flying backwards into a boulder. Then, the light began to take shape. A brown colored silhouette appeared, yellow eyes gleaming and bone white dorsal plates lit up as if a blue sun was forming under the waves. He roared his signature roar, as the captain shouted one last thing. One last thing that sent the world into pandemonium.

“GODZILAAAAAAAAAA-!”

And just like that, the King shot his atomic ray, easily destroying the ship, letting the radioactive fumes absorb itself into his body. He smirked, satisfied. Couple down, and an entire world to go! He swam upward towards the surface. His new reign of terror starts now, and none that dare to challenge him shall live to tell the tale. Besides, who would want to challenge him anyway? The only thing that would remotely stand a chance against him would be another of his species, but they were whipped clean off the face of this Earth long ago.

Well, that wasn’t entirely true.

Farther away in the Arctic Ocean, a charcoal grey monster began to stir out of his slumber….

Spoiler:
The Sun was coated in cancerous blackness, tumors slowly growing to snuff out the radiance which supported the planet Earth. The world itself was enshrouded by dark clouds, ensuring that night reigned unopposed.

Belial watched it from space, drifting nearby the world. It would have been a wonderful sight, if not for the fact that he had not inflicted it. As it was, he only felt bitter, to see the world so important to his most hated foes breaking under the might of another being.

His fists clenched the staff in his hands, a lengthy weapon with a bludgeon on each end. Each was decorated with fifty glowing squares which resembled glass, and a close look at each betrayed the true nature of the weapon. A monster dwelled behind every window, their souls stored within the device to be released at the command of a Reionyx. The Giga Battlenizer, one of the deadliest weapons in creation.

Behind Belial, five figures prepared for battle. An Alien Mefilas, Alien Deathre, Alien Hipporito, Alien Groze, and Alien Temperor. Each had glowing eyes of crimson, for they had been touched by darkness. The Darkness Five were Belial’s generals, the five fingers of his hand gripping the cosmos.

They began to descend through the murky skies, Belial leading them as he sensed Empera. Tokyo soon came into view, demolished beyond repair. No fires raged, snuffed out by the unnatural shade of Alien Empera.

Immediately, the fallen Ultra recognized the emperor of shadows. Standing in the ruined streets, four figures standing behind him, Empera’s gaze fell upon Belial. Coated with dark armor, jewelry jingling with the movement of his arms, the emperor’s violet eyes locked with the Ultra’s own.

Another Alien Mefilas, Alien Groze, and Alien Deathre were by Empera’s side, readying for battle. A strange figure with bright orange, insectoid features accompanied them, one of his arms ending with a blade instead of a hand.

Belial and the Darkness Five landed across from their foes. The former warrior of light spoke first.

“Ah, Empera. It has been 30,000 years since we last met. A lot has changed since then.”

The emperor replied, unamused. “I can tell you were one of the warriors of light, I do not care which one. You are not the Father of Ultra, so this battle shall go the exact way it did all those years ago.”

Belial cackled. “I have become so much more than any of those fools of the Land of Light! I will leave much more than a simple scar on you!”

The Alien Groze on Empera’s side stepped forward. “You won’t get to leave a scratch on the emperor! Because we, the Four Heavenly Kings, will destroy your knockoffs of us before tearing you apart!”

His counterpart on the enemy team countered. “None of you stand a chance before us! We are your superiors in every way!”

A sphere of energy formed around Empera’s body. The Four Heavenly Kings, minus Yapool, were startled. The Super Alien Hipporito laughed, before boasting, “you fools stand around and talk too much! Now witness as I, Jathar, destroy your lord here and—“

Jathar was cut off as the lord of darkness opened his hand, shattering the sphere into pieces. He thrust his palm towards the Alien Hipporito once more, hurling Jathar back like a toy with another Red Shockwave.

“Idiot!” Belial scorned his subordinate. “Leave Empera to me, and me alone!”

The Four Heavenly Kings and the Darkness Five, even Jathar who was quickly back on his feet, rushed towards each other with war cries. Glocken and Grozam clashed claws, Deathrem and Deathrog sent fireballs racing towards each other, and Alien Mefilas sent forth a bolt of lightning which Surai blocked with his blade. Villainous the Temperor and Jathar launched glowing projectiles towards the last of the Four Heavenly Kings, who responded by intercepting the blasts with energy slashes from his blade hand.

As Tokyo erupted with battle, Empera and Belial continued staring at each other. The latter held the Giga Battlenizer high, before slamming an end of it into the ground, so hard it broke through and wedged itself into the soil. The fallen Ultra slowly stepped in front of his weapon, then cracked his knuckles.

From the perspective of the rest of the fighters on the battlefield, Belial teleported towards Empera, materializing with his fist extended and against the emperor of shadow’s raised forearm. A shockwave rushed outwards, hurling debris in all directions. In reality, he had merely moved so fast that none of them could have seen it. Yet Empera had clearly seen it well enough to counter.

Belial smiled. Good, this wouldn’t be boring.

Spoiler:
There was one story that told of a climactic battle, one that almost resulted in the destruction of the Azumi family’s legacy. On one winter’s day, survivors of a shipwreck were washed up on the western shore of Okinawa Isand, delirious, baring clinging to life. They were rescued by local fisherman and hunters, who helped to nurse the men and woman back to health, and once recovered, they came forward to the king and queen to recount a terrible message.

A new evil had been unleashed, freed from a hundred years of imprisonment within the Himalayas of Asia. It rampaged and slaughtered across the continent, killing thousands upon thousands on a single, aberrant quest to snuff out mortal light wherever it took root. The demon’s path took it far past the shores of the country, unleashing the unholy power it wielded upon land, sea and sky. Those that stood in the royal court who had washed up on the shore were the only survivors of a naval battle against the crimson horror, a last brave effort to remove its foul presence from Japanese land, but its demonic light purged the Imperial forces without a challenge.

A million lives were sent to the black depths of the ocean that day, their souls devoured by the taint god, Bagan. His hunger for death unsatable, his desire for terror eternal as the darkness in his heart. As long as life escaped his fangs and claws, he would pursue it to the edges of the world. The Japanese soldiers pleaded with regret to the Okinawan royalty, for they feared that their escape from the devil’s wrath would draw his ire to their kingdom, if it had not already.

They promised to leave and never return, so that the islands would be spared from the evil force that was coming. Such actions would mean the death of those who were given refuge on his land, and the king would not allow for these people to die in his name. Not a drop more of Japanese blood would be spilled, he declared, for it would be Okinawan steel that would face the scarlet slayer. It was demanded for the pride of the royalty, and the court cheered in unison. No threat would force them to back down.

The demon god arrived on tides of black clouds. Flying high above, soaring on bat-like, arm-mounted wings, his muscular mass cast a shadow across the lapping waves of Okinawa. Bagan descended from dark vapours, allowing grey, unfeeling eyes to lay their gaze upon the green forests and hills awaiting. He could smell the bounty of life, that wretched, cancerous light that consumed the world like an infection. From the darkest places behold the comprehension of Man, the dark goliath was born to oppose and slay the light, and he relished in his unhallowed task.

But between the devil and the island, the armada of Ryukyu awaited in lined formation. One hundred warships barred the unwanted creature entry, flanked by land-mounted weaponry along the kingdom’s outer walls. To an outsider, they would have called this sight foolish, but those of Okinawan loyalty stood true to their oath, to serve and protect the city with every ounce of strength in this life. Their bravely only bolstered Bagan’s assault.

The naval commanders gave the attack order. Trebuchets, cannons and ballistas fired from the deck of every vessel, unloading rounds of thick iron, steel-tipped arrows and burning fire onto flesh of blood red and armour of night black. It was nothing to the flying demon, producing only a cackle of madness from his white toothed maw. With a single beat of toned arms, he dived down into the storm of weapons, oblivious to the discomfort it brought upon him. Many vessels were crushed under his form as Bagan crashed into the waves, throwing ocean water into the air higher than he was tall. Pounding shockwaves tore apart dozens of ships into splinters of wood, while colossal waves created from the descending spout capsized countless more. One act from the abomination against life had robbed the souls of hundreds, lost to his spirit-hungering might.

Looks like King Ceasar's gonna finally have a chance of revenge after what Bagan did to him in match 51. :huge:

Spoiler:
Standing within orbit of the planet Earth was a holy knight. Silver and golden armor coated every inch of his form, revealing nothing of whatever existed beneath. A golden medallion resembling an ancient depiction of the Sun rested upon his forehead, glistening as the true star’s rays reflected off it.

Utsuno Ikusagami was the reincarnation of the god of the sun, a divine warrior devoted to destroying the forces of darkness and preserving the will of the gods with unparalleled, righteous power.

Then, why had his home become this?

Earth’s land was coated in dark green, from corner to corner the continents were painted the same. The planet’s essence was warped, a brilliant tapestry of variety turned into a homogeneous gel.

Something down on the surface beckoned to him, drawing him to descend. As he broke through the atmosphere, the changes became even more apparent. But this was overshadowed when he sensed… it.

Power, overflowing and unending. It was overwhelming, even countless miles away. That had to have been what had done this, nothing else could be responsible. The dark-green forests below came into clear view, jagged fields of strange plant-matter, and they carried the same essence of the immense presence.

For the first time in so many millennia, Utsuno felt doubt in his ability to overcome.

But, perhaps this beckoning was help of some kind? That gave him some hope as he approached it, the essence being the only thing distinguishing the patch of forest from the rest.

Utsuno’s armor disappeared in a flash of light, folding away into nothingness as he touched the ground. When it was done, in the god’s place stood a man of Japanese descent, in the prime age of his life.

Yamato Takeru looked around, his tied-up hair waving with each turn of his head. “Hello,” He yelled out, “who has summoned me to this place?”

Suddenly, there was the shriek of a large creature. His gaze snapped towards it, witnessing as a wyvern with a skin texture just like the trees charged forward through a clearing, six eyes which glowed red focused on him as its maw opened wide. Yamato’s hand went to his sword, but before he could draw his blade, twin streams of crimson energy passed over his head.

The Servum screamed as the beams tore through its torso, detonating its body. Shards of metallic plant matter scattered, falling like rain. Yamato’s heartbeat skyrocketed at the sight of the rays, for even with the passing of time, those could only belong to one being.

“You finally arrive,” Came a deeper, older voice.

Turning around, Yamato drew his sword as a figure dressed in immaculate robes of royalty hopped down from a tree. Long, dark hair fell down over the sides of his head, a crown keeping it somewhat contained.

“What are you doing here, Tsukuyomi!”

Yamato started to rush forwards, yelling a battle cry. The next words that came out of the target of his hatred stopped him in his tracks, leaving him baffled.

“I’m not here to fight you, you fool, I’m here to help you!”

Sheathing his blade, Yamato’s eyes narrowed. “How do I know I can trust you?”

The lord of the underworld gestured to the world around them, “sense the power so far away. It pains me to say this, but I cannot defeat that on my own.”

“I want to stop this,” Yamato replied, guard still raised as he talked to his immortal enemy. “For humankind. I can sense that they still exist, in some small capacity. But, why would you care about this world?”

Tsukuyomi breathed in deeply. “Long ago, my mother and father created many worlds and weaved a beautiful tapestry of creation. Perhaps some part of you still remembers, if you truly are my brother reincarnated. Then one day, they tainted the beauty they formed by adding sentient mortals. The crown jewel of their creation, which we stand upon now, received the worst of them.” His voice lowered during that last sentence, barely concealing rage.

“I am familiar with your hatred of humankind, you have failed to answer—“

“I do not do this for the writhing insects upon this gem! I do this, because one being, and one being alone, has torn my parents’ most beautiful creation asunder and replaced it with his own design!”

Yamato, in stark contrast to his opposite giving in to wrath, remained calm. “He has declared himself this world’s new God, and that fills you with a greater hatred than anything.”

“Yes. So, will you accept my offer?” The smile the deity flashed filled the warrior with trepidation, but he saw little other option.

“Nothing was able to oppose this thing?”

“Look around you. Surely, if anything in this world could challenge it, they already would have.”

Sighing as he ran a hand through his hair, the reincarnation of Susanoo considered his options. Either fight Orochi then battle this strange presence, or risk being stabbed in the back. Seconds passed as he contemplated, but eventually he reached his conclusion.

Tsukuyomi sounded genuine, he supposed…

“It’s a deal.”

Spoiler:
The universe was an immense place, full of countless worlds orbiting around countless stars. Most hunks of rock and other minerals found themselves barren and lifeless, for it was a very specific process needed for life to take root. And with the chaos of the universe, most did not meet these needs. But with the sheer vastness of the cosmos, many worlds still managed to obtain life.

It was those worlds that the blue orb racing through the vast expanse sought. For they were so fun to cause destruction upon, because what was the point of just smashing some rocks and kicking up dust?

Bemular, the being within this orb, was a callous individual. He was not a destroyer of worlds, that was something too grand and too time consuming for one such as himself. Instead he preferred to descend upon a world, wreak some havoc and take lives, then flee back into the cosmos to find another world to do it to.

It was this behavior that earned him the title “space criminal”, and right now, Bemular knew that the space police were in pursuit. Just recently he had escaped the warrior of light, Ultraman. But the guardian had lost the trail of his target, letting Bemular roam free!

And right now he careened through a solar system, spotting the telltale signs of life on the third planet from the star. Ah, the Goldilocks zone, he mused within his travel sphere. Always the first place to look for life when one entered a solar system, just the right spot for liquid oceans.

But as he descended, the space fugitive did not quite understand what he was approaching.

This world was Golarion, and it was a chaotic world indeed. Beings from a myriad of other realms fighting over it, its own international tension being eternally high, and being able to call itself home to some of the deadliest flora and fauna in the universe. Villains wielding foul magic powers clashed with noble warriors clad in enchanted armor constantly across the planet.

It was almost as if the very world itself had been tailor made for perilous adventure.

Bemular flew over the landscape, searching for a good place to touch down and immediately begin the fun. It appeared as if he had found a place far from civilization, mostly just forests and plains so far. Something he flew over caught his attention, eyes widening from within his vessel.

A path of destruction, flattened and blackened landscape for miles. An army, or another giant like himself? Either way, he had found something to have fun with. Racing in the direction of the devastation, he eagerly awaited getting to finally stand up and stretch again.

Many horrible beings called Golarion home, or at least would be there for a time to carry out malevolent desires. Powerful beasts, undead monsters, grotesque aberrations of other realms, infernal fiends, and so much more. But currently roaming across the countryside, destroying all in his path, was a being that all but a sparse few feared. Armies would die before colossi that it crushed for sadistic fun. The slayer of kaiju, the destroyer of kingdoms, the Thrice-Headed Fiend. Only a handful commanded a greater sense of terror than it, and those were gods and true abominations beyond full human comprehension.

Bemular stared at it for a moment, slowly descending as he took in the full scope of the colossus. Crimson scales coated a serpentine body, coils rippling with immense musculature. It was reared up, a little less than half its body constantly raised. Humongous wings of scarlet stretched out of its back, and slightly above where they jutted out the snake’s form split into three necks. Three serpent’s heads, adorned with spiky crowns, surveyed a burning landscape with horrific joy.

Lord Varklops reminded Bemular of a certain golden dragon he had always made sure to stay well clear of.

Spoiler:
This world was not what he had come to love.

For countless millennia, he had waged war and risked his life to protect the Earth and its inhabitants. He had seen eras begin and end, species be born and go extinct, and civilizations rise and fall. Once, he had been this world’s king, it's benevolent ruler who struck out and crushed any who sought to harm the Earth. When the foul reared their cruel heads, unleashing destruction for their own narcissistic desires, it was him who all the weak and fearful turned to for salvation.

But here he was now, languishing in depression in an underwater crater, as the surface world became the playground of self-proclaimed gods.

One day, a colossal asteroid fell upon the Earth, much like the one which had taken the lives of the dinosaurs. The surface world was torn apart by the cataclysm, especially when they arose. The Draconians.

Physical manifestations of concepts, whether literally or because they happened to embody certain characteristics so fully that they might as well be. These deities made themselves known in the wake of the mass extinction, unleashing even worse destruction. Power struggles between beasts with abilities beyond that of even most Titans, the survivors never stood a chance. Despite all opposing each other like petty warlords, the new gods mangled the broken world to fit their desires, subjugating the remaining humans and forcing them into worship.

And he, the world’s supposed protector, had not been there to stop them in the first place. The initial impact had instigated great chaos in the hollow Earth, plunging him into a coma due to simply being in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he finally awoke, beneath vast layers of crumbled stone, the world he had come to love was nothing like he remembered.

He had not been there for his subjects, both human and Titan alike. Whenever he tried to call out for the fellow giants which had guarded nature with him, he would receive nothing. Whether they were all dead, or if some survived in obscure pockets and remained utterly hidden in fear, he did not know. It was obvious to him that most of them were dead, most likely having tried to stop the reigns of tyranny and meeting death in return. He had heard some of their dying calls when one did emerge from hiding and lash out.

It was through these that he was able to piece together another thing that tore at his soul. The Draconians could die, but they would not stay dead. Somehow, someway, they could return to the realm of the living. Then, what was he, or anyone, to do to stop this?

A colossal, grey-scaled body began to shift. He started to swim, just to feel something physical, to move at all. Immense arms and legs, composed of the strongest musculature the Earth had created, moved for the first time in months. A powerful tail kicked up a cloud of silt into the waters as it shifted. Jagged spines protruding from the living monolith’s back waved back and forth subtly.

Yellow eyes, filled with weariness, observed where a kingdom once stood.

Shortly before the cataclysm, Godzilla had fought his nemesis, a golden dragon who had sought to tear Earth asunder and reconstruct it in their twisted image. Due to human intervention, he had almost died in one of the battles. But the thing about humans, something he had realized a long time ago, was that when they committed atrocity, other humans would be there to remedy it the best they could.

So, at the cost of the ancient city and the life of one man, they had revived Godzilla and increased his power even further.

Swimming over this desolate crater, he aimlessly drifted. What was the point of this all? Was he truly going to just abandon all he had strived for, and just let new colossi rule? The fact that he had chosen to get up at all clearly meant there was something in his heart, otherwise, he would have just continued to lay down until he faded away.

It was then that he saw it, lying on the rim. It was a glimmer of white within a mound of silt. The former king swam up to it, brushing away some of the filth to reveal more of what lay beneath. The sight of bones began to reawaken memories, causing him to frantically clear off more and more until it all became painfully clear.

Before him lay the skeleton of a quadruped, with small spikes running down his back, a maw of sharp fangs, and crown of horns.

***

The blackened skies crackled with sickly yellow lightning. Hovering in these horrid heavens was the golden fiend, three heads looking down with foul sneers and glares that radiated pride.

Throughout the city of stone and wood, titans waged war. Those fighting on the side of Godzilla, for the Earth itself. Their opposition, those on the side of King Ghidorah, fighting for the sake of preserving themselves for fear of the false king’s wrath.

The king of the monsters looked up at his towering foe, made even grander looking with their lofty position. Directly above him, shining like a glorious beacon, the queen of the monsters.

From above, the volcanic avian chirped with anger. Rodan’s mate had been slain by the invader and he was determined to get vengeance. Beside him, Mothra chirped, ready to end the golden demise once and for all.

And by Godzilla’s side, unafraid of the devil laying siege to creation, his other closest ally. Anguirus, the Fierce Prehistoric Dragon. The brown-scaled saurian let out a sharp roar, mocking King Ghidorah and showing only the stubborn fury that had gotten him to be the Alpha’s second in command.

As one, the king, queen, rogue, and general charged into battle, their cruel adversary swooping down to meet them for the battle to determine the fate of all.

***

What would Anguirus have thought of his current state? Languishing in misery as the surface was assailed by selfish divinities. The spike-coated titan would have been outraged at such a shameful display. Yet, he would have been encouraging as well, demanding that Godzilla go up and face them all, being by his side all the while.

Looking up, the alpha titan made his decision.

Soon, the waters near a beach began to recede. They rushed forth in the form of a tsunami, dampening the sands as the towering form of Godzilla arose. He planted his feet on the soggy beach, staring off into the horizon. The moon dangled in the sky like a gem, illuminating the darkness.

He could have trekked across the world, hunting them all down one by one. But, if they were truly able to come back from death, what would be the point? No, he had an idea. The Draconians were all connected, this he could tell. They all arose at the same time, their auras all felt similar, and their battles had reshaped the Earth in an almost purposeful manner despite being madness.

Perhaps, if they all died, they would remain dead?

It was foolish, but he saw no other course. And so, with that, he breathed in deeply. Godzilla leaned forward, letting loose the mightiest roar the world had heard in a long time.

Most did not hear it, for when the call had traveled out, at a certain point it turned into a signal that most ears could not pick up. But the ones he needed to hear this declaration, they heard it all too well.

Surrounded by molten rock and towering fires, he resembled a crimson Tyrannosaurus Rex. Stripes black as the night ran down his back. The eyes of a tyrant surveyed the decimation, basking in the death and destruction. Diablo, the god of evil, destruction, and fire had been spawned by Hell itself.

The frigid tundra was calm, the cold wind blowing gently through it. Standing tall, surrounded by bowing and chanting people, was a bipedal ape. His skin was the color of the frost around him, his voluminous fur silver and brown. This deity looked upon his people fondly, smiling. Blizzard, the god of nobility, wisdom, and water fought to preserve life and its natural progression.

Death’s stench permeated the air, as did the grotesque sounds of feasting. A pile of mutilated corpses was taken into the maw of a yellow and purple theropod, who devoured it like he had not had a meal in eons. Remnants of past meals eaten minutes ago stained the ground around him. Sauron, the god of hunger, thirst, and eternity had an unending void in his stomach that he was forced to nigh-constantly fill.

Filth and bodily waste caked every surface of the “city”. People who had given into their most base instincts, even more, primitive and simple than the first humans had been, populated this cesspool. And at the center of this, rested their lord, laying in a bath of diseased waste. Another bipedal ape, with deathly grey skin and garnish pink fur. Chaos, “god” of decay, evolution, and witchcraft had once been a man before hubris overtook him.

Maddening baffling filled the grassy plains as droves of people praised their goddess-queen, speaking words that even they did not understand as their minds were slowly shattered. She let out laughter that would make the bravest warriors fall into the fetal position in terror. Resembling a blue cobra with spindly limbs like that of a dinosaur, she basked in the growing madness. Vertigo, goddess of insanity, sorcery, and the moon had once been a sorceress from another realm, hellbent on global domination.

Below the Earth’s surface sat a beast loved by many. For his worshippers were treated with respect, the god of balance, earth, and peace meditated in his chambers. He resembled an ankylosaur, only bipedal, yellow and brown scales covered his body from head to toe. Armadon felt that something was coming, though not aware of what this potential threat was he needed to prepare all the same.

In a peaceful valley sat a tribe of meat-eaters. The god of the survival, protection, and harmony sat among his kin, basking in the sun’s light. Feathers pointed out the back of his neck, patterns of orange, black, and white covered the raptor’s body. Talon was filled with joy as he watched the future of his species play in the fields of his people’s land.

Birds chirped outside his domain, the early morning rising, awakening what remained of animals in the area...except from one. From his cave laid the god of the hunt, combat, and honor. A bipedal brown and orange cat with gigantic twin fangs hanged from his maw, Slash Fang rested. Yawning as a few of the sun’s rays past through cracks in the cave.

The gods were shaken from their respective stupors when the call of Godzilla reached them, challenging all of them.

Diablo snarled in outrage. How dare he be challenged by a life form who wasn’t even a god!?

Blizzard sighed. Something about this call made him think that it was a being that, on any other occasion, he would have fought alongside. But, if it sought to destroy him, so be it.

Sauron’s eyes widened. Such a powerful call, such a massive being to have made it. Such a bountiful feast!

Chaos awoke, sending small rivers of filthy water flowing from the pile that had formed his bed. He would feel no remorse in destroying this challenger, drowning them in filth for daring to provoke him.

Vertigo flinched, then looked towards the direction of the call. Another fool to fall before her. Did this one truly think it could overcome her magic?

Armadon looked to the surface, feeling a strange familiarity with this roar. Yet the wrath filling it still spurned him into action, especially with how it sought his demise as well.

Talon felt his heart sink. Some beast had arisen from the ocean, and the call alone convinced him it was something immense in all regards. His loyal followers, both raptor and human, would be powerless if it came for him here. For the sake of his spawn, he knew he must fight.

Slash Fang grinned, flexing his claws as he awoke. He emerged from his cave, feeling his blood pumping at the thought of fighting such a mighty-sounding foe. For it to challenge all of the gods, it was either totally foolish or something none of them had ever seen. Either way, the sabertooth was happy.

All the while, in an absolutely gargantuan crater, something waited. Gestating in a grotesque cocoon in the center, necrotic and pulsating. It stirred at the sound of the call, then went still.

Not yet, considered the mind within. Soon.

Hours passed, and even as the gods managed to catch glances of each other during their travels, they did not engage each other. This needed to be dealt with first, no matter what. The lords of Urth congregated, approaching the beach where their challenger awaited.

All eight barely kept themselves restrained as they moved near each other, wanting to lash out and rip into their rivals. This faded, as did the blind pride of those more self-absorbed when they reached their destination.

Godzilla made all of them look small. Even Sauron, the largest among them, felt himself feeling diminutive before this. And as the alpha titan’s eyes passed over them all, the gods felt some fear creep into their hearts. Not enough to make them flee, but enough to make even Diablo and Vertigo consider that there was a chance of failure.

For the eyes were the windows to the soul, and in this soul, they saw wrath to incinerate all the Draconians had built, backed up by the power to make it so.

As the eight gods before him stared upon his form, memories flashed in Godzilla’s mind. Each beast reminding him of an enemy or ally of his past. The disgusting, rooting ape reminded him of the smog monster that descended from the stars. The red theropod bellowed fire from his nostrils, though they did not always get along, this made him miss Rodan once more. The spiked beast resembled his best ally of Anguirus, and though faint, he did recognize this one. The gigantic feline stood on his back legs, ready for combat, his stance resembling the guardian of Okinawa. The noble ape filled the monster king with rage, his fateful battle with Kong flashed before his eyes, the ancient rivalry boiling his blood with anger. Though he had met many theropods, he couldn’t help but think of Gorosaurus when he looked upon the yellow and purple Sauron. As the raptor circled around him, he was reminded of the mutant iguana he once faced. Whatever this serpentine beast was, he could feel the pure insanity surrounding it. He couldn’t help but be reminded of the invasive Skull Crawlers due to their snake-like appearance.

All was silent for a moment, no one making a move. The tension swiftly built higher and higher, emotions rising like a rocket. And then…

With a chorus of roars, all hell broke loose.

Spoiler:
Lake Tazawa, Northern Japan

A volcanic caldera turned shimmering veil of H2O over the span of nearly 2 million years, it was a true testament to the works of time and the inevitable cycle of death and rebirth. In life begun as a geothermal colossus with a rumbling series of veins full of fiery magma, a volcano that eventually blew its top and released its excess searing heat that ended the lives of all that it touched; upon it’s death, however, it transformed into something new. As its molten lifeblood slowly ebbed away, its once trademark volcanic shape gradually receding and morphing into a brand new landmass, it changed. Having begun as a tower of deathly heat and noxious fumes, in death it was subsequently reborn as a beautiful haven of greenery, water, and most importantly, life.

The mouth of a barren monolith of ashen desolation and volcanic rock, once upon a time; now, it was a beautiful body of water that both supported and lay surrounded by an entire ecosystem of life. At 423 meters max, it was the deepest lake in all of Japan, and a popular vacation spot for residents. Tazawa Ski Area overlooked the watery veil, but on this cloudy autumn morning there were strangely no residents setting foot on this eons-old soil. For today, the lake was left entirely at peace.

But, through its long history, the lake was rumored to hold an eerie secret.

Some of the oldest of legends tell that at the deepest, darkest depths of the watery crater, there exists a Great Spirit- a powerful guardian who at all costs, must never be disturbed from its slumber unless absolutely necessary. And, the oldest of Japanese men and women claim, should anyone carelessly wake the Great and Powerful Spirit from its sleep and intrude upon the home it allegedly guards so fiercely... ... ...

Woe to all the arrogant souls who dare invoke its divine wrath.

*****

A youthful screech pierced the cool morning air.

Craggy, maroon scales glinted with the thinnest layers of atmospheric water as a large, yet young reptilian body bounded about through the endless hills of multicolored trees. Decently-sized spines running down the back of the quadrupedal animal, the creature was a Varanopode, a species of prehistoric reptile that lived throughout the Mesozoic Era- but while this lizard was a giant to the residents of the countryside, size could be deceiving.

At only 10 meters tall and weighing 60 metric tons, this was a small and infantile Varanopode. A child no older than a few months, an offspring born in the warmth of the previous spring. Carefree, excited screeches left the reptile’s jaws as he crawled about through the mountains, occasionally leaping playfully at the flocks of fleeing birds as if they were butterflies. For a time, the scaly youth simply crawled about exploring this beautiful territory, enjoying bounding and rummaging about the forests for as long as his immature mind desired. But as the minutes passed by and more energy was expended from his small body, the creature grew thirsty, and decided to lumber to the nearby Lake Tazawa for sustenance.

Chirping happily as he pushed aside the trees to walk upon the shores of the shimmering lake, the reptilian toddler took a moment to gaze in wonder upon the watery mirror and its surroundings. So much beauty to be found, as far as the eye could see! Never in his relatively short life had the little Varanopode seen such color! Leaves colored in shades of red, gold, bright green, even orange all intermingled with one another to create an organic tapestry of rainbow colors that spread all across the hills; while every now and then, the wind blew upon the fallen leaf litter to create little airborne puffs of the deceased plants, looking as if the wind were coming alive through the detached leaves. Some blew around and past the saurian cub, who took a moment to chirp and swipe playfully at them as they passed, before turning back to the lake he so desired.

With closed eyes, he dipped his lower jaw beneath the liquid veil with a ripple that spread all across the lake in minutes, and began to drink. Gulp after gulp of fresh, frigid water flowed down his gullet and into his little stomach; the carefree reptile inhaling as much water as he liked to his heart’s content until his stomach was full and cold from the refreshing drink. Letting out a growling sigh, he retracted his head from the lake. Rising up on his own two legs, the infant screeched his little cry to the cold morning air, almost like a makeshift rooster call. Falling silent, he listened curiously to the fading chorus of his own echo, fascinated by the repetitive hearing of his own voice.

A tiny vibration in the earth, so slight and so suddenly it would’ve all but gone entirely unnoticed by most creatures. The lake, having fallen still after a few minutes of the little lizard’s drinking, rippled ever so slightly in response.

Then all was still again.

The Varanopode ceased movement for a bit, curious. But as the land remained still and serene, the youth brushed it aside and began to ponder over what to do next. After ten seconds, he decided simply to wander around the lake’s edge, to scope out more of this beautiful monument to nature.

In the darkness of Lake Tazawa’s watery depths, two magenta orbs lit up the near-blackness.

It started as another light rumble, a ripple in the lake’s surface accommodating it. At first, the immature reptile paid it no mind, simply attributing it to his own footsteps. As the infant continued to wander around the lakeside, however, a new phenomenon made him stop in his tracks- all had gone silent. No birds, no animals, nothing. It were as if the entire mountain range had suddenly grown afraid and held its tongue for dear life.

And then, with the tiniest breeze, a sound unlike any the Varanopode had ever heard in his life began to enter hearing range. It was distant and faint, yet very near at the same time. Low whispers on the windless air slowly beginning to grow in volume clarity, evolving into a choir of ghostly chanting in a language entirely beyond the young lizard’s comprehension. But, every alien word the invisible voices spoke was always the same, a repetitive mantra that voiced the most revered- yet feared- name of Lake Tazawa. A name rarely spoken since the days of ancient Japan.

“Varadaki... ... ...Varadaki...!”

Before the baby could comprehend exactly where those noises originated and what they meant, the water rippled again with a bell-like chime. As the little reptile peered at the water’s surface and the chanting grew ever more deafening, two purple lights suddenly shone to life beneath the aquatic veil. The Varanopode jumped back in shock with a screech.

And the eyes turned and looked right at him.

The water began to froth and boil violently like the volcano it once was, the spiritual chanting having suddenly come to a complete halt as a regal entity that the island of Japan hadn’t seen in 12,000 years rose from the bubbling mass of water with a howling ululation that sent near-paralyzing chills of terror down the saurian’s spine.

The new arrival sat tall and mighty on a snow-white reptilian body weaved in the posture of a great lion, with longer forearms and large paws ending in claws like meathooks. Tall, pointed spines ran down the beast’s dorsal region in a single row. Glowing, pupil-less magenta eyes shone with a terrifying otherworldly light that seemed to pierce the young Varanopode’s very soul, fixing him with a glare that seemed as if it were judging him. As if he had done something wrong...?

The infant was taken aback by this creature’s appearance, for it looked almost identical to him! It almost resembled the mature version of his species, and yet there were enough notable differences that pointed to the fact that this creature was something else.

The Great Lake Spirit had awoken, his phosphorescent eyes scowling down upon the youthful lizard before him. His eyes were full of scorn, his claws slowly digging into the underwater soil he stood upon with anger. The infant tri-phibian couldn’t do much as twitch; he was all but paralyzed with terror in the presence of this angry entity. He couldn’t bear to do much as look into those eyes, for even averting his gaze he could swear he saw tiny, wispy shapes swirling deep within those carmine red orbs.

The baby nearly jumped out of his scaly skin when the Legendary White Wind Monster Varadaki lunged forward and unleashed a wrathful wail that sounded like a cross between the roar of a lion and the howl of a wolf, surrounded by the crescendo of a thousand ghostly screams. Only then did terror finally give way to survival instincts, and the baby screamed in terror and began to bound away as fast as his little legs could carry him. But nearly as quickly as he widened the gap between him and the great Varadaki, the enraged spirit suddenly glided right over the immature Varanopode on two great flaps of skin attached to his limbs, landing right in front of the burgundy hatchling. With a swift turn, he faced down the youthful saurian with a wolfish growl.

With a fearful yowl, the baby tried to run to the side, but with a graceful leap the ghostly guardian blocked his path. No matter where the young lizard tried to go, the vengeful spirit landed in his path with the grace of a hunting serval. The infant screeched in fear as he realized there was nowhere to run, and the Great Lake Spirit began to stalk towards him like a hunting big cat. The beastly wraith growled an otherworldly drone as it neared, eyes illuminated with contemptuous fury. The youth had disrupted his long slumber for no reason whatsoever, and now punishment would have to be dealt.

The White Wind Monster roared another spiritual scream as he loomed over the terrified hatchling, who cowered back with another fearful cry as the spirit raised a paw... ... ...

A howling shrill that rattled the mountains and shook any and all leaves off the trees of Japan made the guardian spirit jolt, his claw lowered as he looked up beyond the hills. The infant raised its head upon hearing the roar, and a tiny spark of hope lit up within the bowels of blood-freezing terror. The reverb echoed mightily across the mainland, so far that even those in Japan’s capital city of Tokyo could hear it. But as the echo began to fade away, the musical, ghostly chanting from before began to fill the air once again- but this time, they spoke a new word. One spoken not out of reverence, but fear.

“Bara, Baradagi... ... ...Ba, Ra, Baradagi, Baradagi!”

The ground began to tremble, vibrating repeatedly under Varadaki’s paws. The tremors were growing stronger by the second, causing the saurian spirit to sit back up for a better view. And the magenta lights that substituted for eyes didn’t take long before they caught sight of something massive lumbering into view from behind the tallest mountain; something powerful, something imposing, something... ... ...unbelievable. An entity which stood up on two legs upon reaching the top, and bellowed forth another terrifying shrill. Howling with fury, beating its chest like a silverback gorilla.

The child’s father had arrived.

Spreading his limbs to reveal flaps of skin akin to a flying squirrel, the new arrival screeched and soared off the mountain, landing upon the next before breaking into a bounding sprint. The Great Lake Spirit took a step forward with an echoing growl, while the invisible spirits began to chant fearfully louder. The Great Mountain God Baradagi was angry!

The giant reptile landed before the lake-dwelling ghost with a bass rumble, trees snapping like twigs from his descent, and all at once the chanting came to an abrupt halt. The White Wind Monster gazed upon the great beast with his character-less eyes, sizing him up. The two goliaths were similar in many ways, but the Great Mountain God distributed many differences. For one, he was bigger- MUCH bigger. He was a Varanopode, but unlike the immature hatchling whom Varadaki pursued, this creature was a full-fledged adult. Towering an impressive 90 meters on his two great legs, his body rippled with impressive muscle that matched that of the lake spirit, his back adorned by an impressive array of dorsal spines. His fierce brown eyes were the exact opposite of that of whom he faced; the eyes of Varadaki were mystical lights of pure divine wrath, shining with the souls of the thousands that made up his internal being.

But while the eyes of Varadaki were mystical in nature, the eyes of the great Baradagi conveyed something far more chillingly primal. Something far more ancient than even the oldest human spirits. His roar was a cry from a bygone era, from a time when giants stalked the earth. A relic of the prehistoric age. But despite their feral fierceness, those eyes shone with a righteous wrath that rivaled that of the Great Lake Spirit, a certain aura of protectiveness that met the ghostly gaze of the guardian with fearless resolve.

“Baradagi,” the spirits continued to chant, “Baradagi, Baradagi!”

For thousands of years, the beast before him went by a name; one even older than his own, a name widely feared amongst the village natives of Katami River in Siberia. A name chanted in song and pleas as a means of appeasement whenever his wrath threatened to reach a boiling point. Baradagi, the great God of Mountain. However, as centuries passed by, the beast went by another name, one uttered by the modern tongues of the 20 and 21st centuries:

Varan.

Varan spread his arms and roared a screeching threat towards the saurian spirit that so strangely resembled him. When Varadaki curled his lip in a snarl and reverberated another ghostly moan, the adult Varanopode ran forward and knocked his head against his chest, sending him careening away from the infant. Screeching in relief, the baby bounded straight to his father’s side, the mighty tri-phibian bending down to nuzzle his son with grumbles of relief.

Then his eyes turned upwards to lock with those of his spiritual doppelgänger.

Clasping one arm around his child, Varan gently pulled him out of the way, nudging him towards the trees to take cover. The little Varanopode crouched low as he backed into the undergrowth, eyes fixed on the two reptilian lookalikes as his father began to circle the Great Lake Spirit. Varadaki sat still, his feline stance unbroken as he watched the prehistoric beast stalk around him with animalistic fury seething in his narrowed eyes. His soul-filled eyes piercing through Varan’s very being, examining him with the same judgmental stare he had given his offspring. Varan felt an odd, uncomfortable sensation prick at him, a feeling he didn’t know how to asses, but it frightened him not.

Varan hissed a fierce warning to the reptilian phantom, his last. A warning that went unheeded when the souls of the deceased screamed for punishment through Varadaki’s gaping jaws, the specter stepping in the direction of the frightened infant.

The Great Lake Spirit could’ve sworn he saw something snap when Varan suddenly lunged into him like a frenzied German Shepherd; the fight was on!

Well I never thought I’d be hyped for a fight between two Varans, but life’s full of surprises I suppose. That trailer was epic!

If I may ask, how do you mark spoilers here? I’m not too familiar with this site yet and I want to post a trailer of my own. Is it possible on mobile?
