Battle of the Multiverse

Ninjas: Members of a Feudal Japanese society of mercenary agents. They were highly trained in martial arts and stealth, who were tasked with covert operations ranging from espionage, to sabotage, and assassinations.

At least... That is what humanity defines them as. The real truth is that ninjas are nothing like the cheap knockoffs in the realm of humankind. True ninjas are an elite, warrior race of godlike beings whose powers and abilities surpass anything that mankind has ever dreamed of; real life supermen and women. As large and extraordinary as their abilities are, ninjas have unfortunately been stamped with a less than stellar reputation across the multiverse. Either feared or outright hated by most races, they haven't had the best luck in making too many friends nor allies.

To most, ninjas simply are freaks of nature who do nothing more than cause chaos and devastation throughout the multiverse. Countless myths and legends have been told about this mysterious yet infamous race, and have been passed down from generation to generation. Ninjas may have committed some heinous acts in the past, yes, but they are not the monsters that countless societies have made them out to be. They never were. As much as they have tried to redeem their race, and escape from under their father's overwhelming shadow, the four vaunted siblings can never seem to make any foreseeable progress. The few beings that they can call friends are all they have.

For a race as powerful and proud as the ninjas, the damage left by a tyrant has left them with a depressive and outcast future. Unless Dante, Ubel, Daeva, and Evron can trudge through the fear and inspire all of those that surround them.

With Aerowen's conquest now on the precipice of beginning, the ninjas will need all of the help that they can get, less the multiverse be brought to its knees. The Blood Assassins: they are the monsters knocking at the door. Though nothing is as black and white as it may seem.

********************************************************************
What do we define as obsession? For most, obsession is simply an idea that continuously intrudes one's mind. It relentlessly hounds them to no foreseeable end, until one day... One day, it drives them insane. For Aerowen, she defines obsession with one, singular word, and it began with a D.

Devil's Peak:
8:45 AM

The winter air was chilled and crisp, the winds were harsh and sharp, and the land was white and slick. Far away in the distance was a red and silver tower, a tower that stretched 4,000 feet in the air. The shape of it was like that of a wine bottle: curvaceous and slender. This was Devil's Peak: the proud capital of the Blood Assassins. It usually overlooked a seemingly endless valley of multicolored foliage, but the grueling winter season now had everything covered in snow and ice. Perched at the very top of Devil's Peak stood a tall, and slender woman. Her inky black hair hung low, and her cold blue eyes lashed out at every snowflake. She gazed out at the sea of ice before her, pursing her tight lips with ponder. Her eyes widened in surprise upon the flurries of snow creating a face, THAT face. The face of her obsession, her allurement, her idée fixe. The woman clenched her eyes shut and reopened them, now finding nothing to see, just the gentle flakes of snow dancing in the wind.

Aerowen sighed and caressed her bare skin. For as cold as the weather was at the moment, she didn't seem to mind; all but her bosom and upper thighs was exposed to the elements. She had been out here, standing in the same spot for hours now, lost within the depths of her own mind. She thought of him, and she thought of him a lot. Aerowen glanced over her shoulder into her room. It was a massive space, at least half the total size of a football field, and covered in various pieces of leather furniture. A soft, orange glow remained consistent throughout the entirety of it, giving the room a unique warmness to it. The walls were plastered to the brim with rather... disturbing items. They were pictures of all shapes and sizes, pictures of him. Aerowen's sweetest sin. Her own little definition of obsession. The woman smiled lustfully at the pictures, continuing to caress her body sultrily. A part of her despised just how much she loved him, but she simply couldn't help it. She wanted him. She needed him. It was sickening.

The stainless steel double doors to Aerowen's room glided open, revealing a petite redheaded woman wearing a purple robe. She had rich hazel eyes, a face covered in freckles, and a pointed chin. This was Cytherea: Aerowen's second-in-command and little sister. Cytherea stood at the edge of the room for a few moments, eyeing the overwhelming amount of photos with notable disgust. She sneered and headed to the balcony where Aerowen stood.

"Lady Aerowen." Cytherea bowed respectfully. "My apologies for interrupting you, but the council wishes to discuss your plans of the conquest."

Aerowen gave her a momentary sideways glance, before fixing her gaze back on the ice covered land. "Tell me something, Cytherea." Aerowen replied. Her voice was smooth and light.

"Of course, my queen, anything." Cytherea quickly said.

"Why are we still going through with this?" Aerowen questioned.

Cytherea looked on in confusion, furrowing her brow. "Because m'lady, it is your wish to-"

"It was MOM'S wish to rule over the multiverse." Aerowen hissed, quickly silencing her timid sister. "I couldn't care less about ANY of this, and am only going through with this conquest to shut the damn council up. Ruling over the entire multiverse isn't my goal. It never was."

"Please forgive me, my queen I... I was completely out of line." Cytherea begged, whimpering on her hands and knees.

Aerowen glanced down at her sister and slowly knelt down to her level. She massaged Cytherea's face and grabbed a hold of her chin, gently raising her head up to see the girl's frightened eyes. Aerowen gave her a smile.

"Hey, I'm sorry for snapping at you, Cyth. I didn't mean to, okay? You don't have to be afraid of me." She said in a reassuring manner.

Cytherea hesitantly nodded, and Aerowen then responded by hugging her tightly.

"Now, you go tell those old bastards to give me a minute, and I'll be right down. Can you do that?"

Cytherea nodded vigorously. "Yes ma'am, I'll do so right away." She stated with determination and hurried off the balcony, and out of the room.

Aerowen stared after her and her smile instantly faded away, gaining way for a vicious scowl. "Idiot." She murmured softly. The council was really starting to piss her off about this campaign; they were lucky that she didn't just slaughter them all. Aerowen gazed at one of the many portraits of him, hanging on her walls. She moved over to it and rubbed it up and down with her fingers.

"We will be together again soon baby, I promise." She whispered, and licked the photo sensually.

Jefferson City, Missouri
6:10 PM

It is amazing how fast weather can take a turn for the worst. One minute, you could be enjoying a hot summer afternoon, the next, you're looking down the swirling barrel of an F4 tornado. Unfortunately for the people of Jefferson City, that is exactly what transpired today. The twister was merciless, carving a path of destruction throughout the city, and leaving nothing in its wake. Weather emergency centers had fortunately been quick enough to predict it, allowing for most of the population to evacuate ahead of time. Still, some people weren't so lucky. A lack of transportation, not listening to the warnings, or a debilitating injury left a handful stranded and deserted. As was the case for one woman, trapped inside of her apartment, with no time to escape. She was a young lady, probably around her early twenties, and had light brown hair and brown eyes to match. She hadn't payed the tornado warnings any attention beforehand, and was now paying the price.

The enormous tower of wind was swiftly closing in on the woman's position, howling and whistling in the process. Ear splitting booms and cracks rang out as the tornado shredded whatever buildings were in its way. It sounded like the end of the world, and as far as the girl was concerned, it was. She was curled in a ball inside of her closet, hands wrapped tightly over her head, and sobbing uncontrollably. Her eyes were puffy from the amount of tears being squeezed from them. She prayed nonstop for whatever god was out there to spare her, spare her for her ignorance. The woman's apartment started to rattle, the ceiling tiles began to fall, and the tornado's roar drew near. The girl was hysterical now, screaming to the tops of her lungs for anyone or anything to save her.

The tornado was upon her now, evident from the violent shaking of the apartment building. The entire structure swayed from side to side, the windows were blown in, and pieces of the building were beginning to get eaten away. The woman continued to shriek and sob in complete terror, as the walls were soon ripped away, and the monstrous winds enveloped the girl. She screamed and shouted as she was swept off her feet, being carried further and further through the twister. The girl continued to scream, until suddenly, the air was still, and the winds were calm. She felt weightless, almost as though she was... Flying.

The woman slowly peeled open her eyes and peered down below her. She was no longer in Jefferson, but was now instead in Kansas City. How had she traveled so far so fast? The girl soon got her answer as she looked up, and was met with quite the bizarre sight. She was staring at a man. This was no normal man though, obviously. Aside from the obvious (him flying), he had this certain... Aura to him, and she could both see and feel it. His eyes were violet and almost seemed to glow, and his entire physique was powerful and confident. The woman was cradled within the man's muscular arms as they flew through the evening sky. The strange man finally located a sufficient building, and slowly descended down to it.

Upon touching down, the man knelt to one knee and delicately laid the woman down. The latter sighed deeply in relief and closed her eyes, attempting to calm her nerves even just a tad. When she reopened them, she saw the tall man turning to leave. She quickly pushed herself up.

"Wait!" She called out, still gasping for breath.

The man stopped in his tracks and slowly turned around to face her.

"Ttt-tha- thank you so, so much fff-for saving mmm-my life. I don't know how many times I can say that to you, but... I am just so grateful to you." She said in a shaken voice.

The man gave her a gentle smile and bowed. "You are most welcome." He calmly replied.

The woman returned his smile with a shaky one of her own, her nerves still buzzing tremendously. "Before you go, can I ask what your name is?" She asked timidly.

The man was silent for a moment. His eyes glowed subtly as his smile grew some. "My name is Ubel." He said.

The girl pursed her lips a bit and nodded happily. "I'm Haley." She responded and immediately gave Ubel the biggest hug that she's ever given. "Thank you for saving me, Ubel: my guardian angel." Haley whispered.

Ubel was surprised at first by the sudden embrace, but he graciously returned the show of affection. No one had ever really shown him that amount of appreciation before. After a few seconds, Haley finally drew away and looked Ubel dead in his eyes, her smile unfading.

"You're really handsome, you know that?" She flirted.

Ubel laughed gently. "I didn't until now. Thank you, Haley."

Haley twirled a piece of her hair. "Do you have like, a girlfriend, or anything?" She asked in hopefulness.

Ubel pondered the question for a moment, thinking of only one girl that he was interested in, one that understood and accepted him for himself. While she wasn't his mate, and the fact that they had only met a year prior... Ubel still had hope. She was more than just a human to the ninja. He looked down at Haley and smiled.

"It was nice meeting you, Haley." He said as his eyes began to glow brightly. In an instant, Haley was knocked unconscious and Ubel set her down delicately on the floor. She wouldn't remember any of this when she woke up; Ubel preferred it that way. She, nor anyone else he saved could ever know that he was a ninja. For Ubel's sake, and more importantly, for Earth's.

Ubel took one last look at the sleeping girl, and, with a small sigh, shot off into the air at supersonic speed. He sped away towards his earthly home, deep within the Rocky Mountains of Canada.

**************************************************************************
Ubel had greatly enjoyed his stay on Earth. At first, he was simply there at Dante's request to help defend the planet from any future, high-powered attacks... And because a certain someone had what humans called a "birthday" coming up, and Ubel simply couldn't miss it. Over the course of his stay however, and him growing more and more comfortable with the tiny world, Ubel began to genuinely like it. Everything was just so simple and peaceful here, and humanity for the most part had been extremely kind. Them not knowing that Ubel was a ninja greatly helped with that, although a lot of them seemed to find what they defined as ninjas, "cool". As great as Earth had been so far, Ubel did feel a tad lonely being here. While he did have three good friends that would consistently check in on him, he felt very much like an outsider, and distanced himself safely away from humanity because of it. Ubel hadn't told neither Demmy, Demiurge, or Molly about it, but he could tell that they saw it in his eyes. Hence, the constant visitations and invitations to various events. Those three had made Earth feel more and more like a home away from home by the day, especially the latter. The ninja did still miss his home and his siblings, but it comforted him to know that he at the very least, had three friends that cared as much about him as his own kin did.

Ubel also made sure that he was never stepping on any toes; Earth was Demogorgon's realm, and Ubel completely respected that. He was just there to help in any way possible to defend it, and pick up the slack. Fortunately, Demmy had been a very humble ruler, and she only had one rule for Ubel to try his best to follow: keep the destruction to a minimum. To Ubel's credit, he did keep that promise... Mostly. During a rather... Intense training session in South Dakota, Ubel accidentally shattered Mount Rushmore, and the entire mountainside for that matter. Luckily, no one was around to see it, and Ubel did attempt to fix it as best as he could. It didn't exactly work. See, that was the thing with Earth that Ubel didn't understand: they had all of these beautiful structures, yet they built them so poorly. Everything here was so delicate. Obviously Ubel didn't quite understand that the great deal of power he possessed might of had something to do with it. In any case, Ubel now had to be extra careful not to get too overzealous; it was yet another reason why he tended to distance himself from humankind.

It wasn't so bad; Ubel had created a rather large and beautiful palace within the Rocky Mountains to escape off to. He could train as hard as he wanted to and not put any lives at risk, and remained hidden from any peeping eyes. Aside from the demon sisters and Molly, no one else knew where the big ninja was, and he wasn't complaining.

Mere minutes after leaving Haley, Ubel touched down upon one of the balconies of his earth home. It was currently flurrying and the wind blew hard. Ubel sighed and removed the silver tank top that he'd been wearing, and tore it into purple sprites of energy. He leaned against the cold, diamond railings, and gazed out at the valleys and canyons that were within his view. His hair blew upward from the strong breeze as he watched this galaxy's sun begin to set. Ubel could already see the Earth's moon with his natural, incredible vision, and allowed for a soft smile to slip. He had gone there many times during his year on this planet, and was impressed by the serenity of it. It was one of the best places to train in this solar system, aside from Mars and Saturn's largest moon: Titan. Additionally, Ubel had given Molly one of her gifts on the surface of the moon. Her initials, glowing brightly in purple, were forever embossed on the lunar surface. It was both incredible and bizarre, really... How a human girl could get to a god so strongly. Ubel didn't mind it at all. In fact, he... He enjoyed her company, very much so. With the orb that he gave her last year, Molly could summon him whenever she wanted, and he would always be there. Ubel's smile faded a bit as he thought of his siblings back home. Deep down, he really really hoped that Dante, Evron, and Daeva would come to visit soon.

That was a bond that could never be broken, no matter what happened.

Realm of the Ninja
11:00 AM

The star of Orion hung proudly in the sky, casting its brilliant light upon the entire realm, and lighting the kingdom up in a dazzling display. The air was cool and crisp, and the exotic foliage that covered the land basked in the sunlight. The snowy peaks of the mountains in the distance sparkled and twinkled. Deep within the kingdom, alone inside of the vast dinner hall, sat Evron at one of the long golden tables. He was busy eating away at a rich, and tender steak with a large side of steaming hot wild rice. Ninjas didn't necessarily need to eat in order to survive, but that didn't mean they couldn't still enjoy a good meal. With their mother gone, the ninjas' Aunt Beatrice was in charge of cooking duty, and she was reeaally good at it.

Daeva walked slowly into the hall, groggily dragging her feet. The red shirt that she was wearing was jumbled and twisted, and her black leggings were rolled up to her knees. Evron glanced up from his food and snorted.

"Well well, look who finally decided to get up." He mused. "How'd you sleep, princess?"

Daeva rolled her eyes and made her way over to the table. Despite just waking up, she didn't look it; she was still just as gorgeous as ever. Sorcery. Daeva took a seat on the table itself and moaned exhaustively.

Evron slowed his chewing. "You know we eat there, right?" He said.

"Not a big deal." Daeva muttered. "I'm guessing everyone else is in the village?" She asked.

"Yep."

Daeva blinked in confusion and shot Evron a look. "Where's Dante?"

Evron gulped down another piece of his steak. "Off being a diplomat." He replied nonchalantly.

Daeva rubbed the grogginess out of her eyes and focused on Evron's words. "I'm sorry, he's what?"

"That's right, little sis, our brother is currently at a diplomatic meeting, filled with a bunch old hags with nothing better to do than to have meetings." Evron stated with a hint of annoyance.

Furrowing her brow, Daeva went on to ask, "um, why?"

"Because apparently they summoned him to the damn thing. Plus, him going would help repair this crappy reputation we have." Evron affirmed and leaned back in his seat. "It's not like Dante wanted to go, but if it helps us in any way, you know he's gonna go for it."

"So why didn't he ask either of us to tag along?" Daeva questioned.

Evron shrugged his shoulders. "Because they only needed one representative, Dante is the oldest, I couldn't care less, and you'd be a distraction."

Daeva opened her mouth with offense. "How would I be a distraction?!" She demanded.

"Because you're you, sis. Hell, last week you made fifty men divorce their wives just so they could be with you." Evron retorted.

"I can't help that I'm sooo beautiful, Evron." Daeva replied playfully and flicked a piece of her hair.

Evron rolled his eyes. "Well regardless, I-" Evron stopped and gazed down at the table; his plate was nowhere to be found. He looked up and saw Daeva scarfing down the last of his food.

"What the-when did you steal my plate?! I was looking right at you the entire time!" Evron demanded.

Daeva finished chewing and sat the empty plate down. "About three minutes ago." She mused with an innocent grin, and hopped off the table, walking briskly out of the dinner hall.

Evron groaned in irritation. "UUUGGH, you're so annoying!" He spat.

"I love you too!" Daeva called out.

With a huff, Evron sunk down in his chair and folded his arms tightly. "Oooo, I'm Daeva, I can go at hyperspeed, I'm the fastest thing in the multiverse; I can do whatever I want." He mocked in an annoyed, high-pitched voice.

".....I heard that." Daeva suddenly whispered right in his ear.

A high-pitched shriek soon followed.

In the depths of Hell, a shadowy figure sat on a throne, tired of what life had become. There used to be war, destruction, trickery, evil, always there to fuel him. But now was a time of peace as far as he was concerned. He remembered that not long ago there was a conflict that gave him a purpose, a war. Yes, he remembered it all. The host, the dragon, the follower that refused to follow. It was great. It fed him.

But now, all he had was his followers, bowing to their Demon Lord and tricking mortals on a dead world. Maybe occasionally taking other planets to be under his grasp. Being a Demon Lord was uninspiring when there was few to give tribute.

Kustrik would not be bored for much longer.

On another Earth in the Multiverse...

"Are we really going to to believe Sinister on this on?" A woman's voice asked.

"I hate the man he's become but he still was a friend, I'm believing him on this one." A deep voice stated. "Not without a few doubts, of course."

The woman was a tallish Asian woman with a slim build and shorter hair, wearing a casual set of clothing. Next to her was a seemingly emotionless machine of a man with blonde hair and icy blue eyes. Who they were talking to was a middle-aged black man wearing sunglasses, bald, and his gaze was always set forward. He was blind.

"Now, I may only be able to hear what's coming next but it's vague." The blind man stated.

The woman raised an eyebrow. "What do you hear?"

"Fighting mostly. Some talking but mostly fighting."

"Oh, that just clears everything up."

The blind man shrugged

"I did say it was vague."

The door opened and in walked a nicely dressed man with dark graying hair and some slight stubble. The look on his face was jovial and full of energy but both the woman and the "machine" gave a glance at each other. They didn't trust him.

"Wayne, nice to see you again. I see you brought your...bodyguards here." Sinestra stated, giving a glance to the man and woman next to him. "You don't trust me? Don't blame you, honestly."

"Well, if all goes well they'll be your bodyguards." Wayne mentioned, leaning back in his chair. "We're here to discuss what you mentioned..."

"The Multiverse is real. I have been there and I'm currently some sort of host for a demon lord named Kustrik. I said it before." Sinestra said with a straight face. "Now, I know it might be hard to believe but what would I gain from lying about that? I'm not some joking jackass right now."

"Tell us all you know." The "machine" spoke.

Sinestra leaned forward. "It's gonna be a long story..."

The Universe of Man

Chimera System, Afonte

The Red Giant Afonte provided life to the 6 habitable planets- well, 5 planets and one object- in the Chimera System. Well, in millions of years the Red Giant would reach the point where it could no longer support the life in this universe, but this time frame was certainly too many lifetimes for any human to get concerned about. Afonte would continue to bring the light of life to humanity in the Chimera system....so long as it wasn't firing death rays across the star system. The man on the starboard chuckled. He was ostensibly an admiral, if identified as a big time crook by all legal systems. He looked little like an admiral, dressed in a flowing coat with a leather vest. After all, in spite of its overwhelming might and grandeur, the Zeus Military was but the fist of the greatest crime ring in the galaxy.

"Admiral Cybil, all ships are ready for solar entry. Permission to bust this son of a bitch?"

The man on the starboard gave this some thought. Afonte had been parasitized, if that was the correct term, by a planet-sized organism of malevolent nature. Whatever the motive the pyromaniac had for burning holes into several planets The Boss had described as 'irrelevant'. What mattered was that the Chimera system, while not directly owned by the Zeus Corporation, was still a important hub for underground trade. If the Sun Parasite had been lured here, even placed in Afonte by those crafty jerkoffs in Earth-one, or any up-and-coming schmucks trying to challenge The Boss...well, that was another matter altogether.

Back in the Skrillex cartel they had located it in the core of the planet and gotten a decent visual based off its heat signature. The Sun Parasite looked a cross between a centipede and a ginseng root. The first Sun Parasite appeared in the Midas quadrant (well, the former Midas quadrant- it had been one of the casualties of the Carnivorous Galaxy) roughly 180 years prior, back before the advancements of the Second Space Age. It sent concentrated solar energy from the star's centre onto 3 planets, devastating billions in 2 and rendering the last uninhabitable. Many assumed it had been some judgment from God, and judging by the might of the entity they had been up against, it might as well have been. Mankind had been helpless against the angels and devils that tormented them, played with them as they saw fit.

Admiral Cybil smirked at the thought. Well, not so much now. He turned to the central computer and issued the command.

"All ships, this is the Admiral. All ships will prepare for solar entry in 2 hours. Radiation shields will be set to full power." The last command was hardly necessary- surely all ships would have shields up by this point, but routine was routine. "Glassers up, EMP cannons facing front. All ships will follow the Apex Predator's lead. Let's..let's bust this son of a bitch."

Abraham Lincoln System, Odetta

The big bald man laid back under the umbrella on a sunchair, observing the beautiful fake sea from the lush fake beach. Odetta was a popukar entertainment world, said to be the planet that most closely resembled Earth-one- well, Earth-one before it went to shit anyway. It was a nice enough beach in spite of being entirely an artificial creation- not one of those entirely empty ones the small timers used to dump bodies, but not those overcrowded pissholes filled with screaming kids of the rich and spoilt.

The bald man didn't look like he spent much time in the sun. His skin was pale with a hint of gray, and he looked unfit. That wouldn't be entirely true- he was far from unfit, much of what appearing to be fat being muscle. Still, he was in no position to win triathlons, and to a casual observer he was a typical fat merchant looking taking a snooze. But on closer inspection, even behind his shades, he carried a frightening aura about his tight features, his slightly hooked nose and portly chin strangely lending him a dangerous austerity.

A couple on the beach waved and pointed at the artificial skies, excited at the gigantic Virgo-class cruiser that passed over them only 50 km overhead. Even in a busy system like Abraham Lincoln, Virgo-class cruisers were rarely seen by civilians. The bald man gave little reaction, only leaning forward to take a glug of Arbor Gold. The cruiser, after all, belonged to him.

He vaguely registered the new message on his phone and gave it a cursory glance. Ah, so they were commencing the attack on the Sun Parasite- or they did 15 minutes ago. In spite of massive improvements to communications technology over the years, messages from several star system were bound to be a few minutes behind. No matter- truth be told, he hadn't heard too much about the whole Sun Parasite affair, nor had it particularly interested him. In the grand scheme of things, it was a minor incident, something barely worthy of note. Oscar Horbitor, Lord of the Zeus Syndicate, surely had bigger fish to fry.

The most interesting development had surely been those beyond this very galaxy, or even this universe. Over the last five years, exploration had been made into other realms. Multiversal theory had finally lost the latter word. While the technology had been made for multiversal travel few forays had actually been made into that unknown. Most of the information had been made through observational equipment and satellites. Oscar himself didn't have much interest in conquering other realms- his priorities were better placed worrying about the worlds he knew- but he would be a fool to ignore them completely. If they could look into other realms it was equally likely they could look back- the Carnivorous Galaxy incident still rang loud and clear in the minds of all who had lived through it. And more immediately important- if it was possible acquire anything of value in these new universes, they would have to acquire it before anyone else.

He had received whispers of the happenings in the multiverse. Most of it fell into the 'curious' category, some seemed to have potential benefits, and then there was the lot that was...disconcerting. Rumors spread of contact of a powerful civilisation that could legitimately threaten that of Man, and their movements seemed to be in more than one universe. Oscar wasn't sure how seriously to take such talk without truly solid evidence, but then noone expected a galaxy to start eating others like french fries as well.

Oscar turned, registering his bodyguard's boredom. Anton Vargas leaned against a palm tree listlessly, scratching his nose while fiddling with his machete's handle. While Oscar was large, burly and bald, Anton was slim, if well-muscled and with a mane of shaggy hair somewhat haphazardly tied into dreadlocks. He was wearing his casual gear- that is still full-body armor, if without full siege accessories. While technically Oscar's bodyguard Anton was also among Oscar's earliest and most trusted associates, from way back during the first battle against the Skrillex military.

All within the Zeus Syndicate would agree Vargas was, in a single combat situation, the most powerful combatant, his abilities surpassing that of any single battleship. Oscar cut the leash when he absolutely needed a job done, a specific assassination or to fell a difficult adversary. Unfortunately, such moments came rarely, and if one were to be honest, in most situations a bunch of Destroyer-class cruisers armed with Glassers would do the job more expediently than a human fighter of any level of finesse. So Vargas spent most of his time watching Oscar's back for threats that rarely came to fruition.

"You look like a dog begging for treats." Oscar snorted. "What, you wanted to deal with that sun thing?"

Anton shrugged. "Well, certainly would be better than watching you grow old and fat. I could write your biography after you are gone."

Oscar laughed harshly as he put down his drink. "What can I say? It's a good thing for us if your services are not required. I could arrange for you to tag along with the boys for a mission or two, but..."

Anton raised an eyebrow, then leaned back against the tree. He was aware of his boss's instincts. Ever since he'd become privy to the forays into the multiverse, he had become tense. As though something wasn't quite right. Oscar, from the very start, had instincts few other leaders did. In some conversations his voice held a dread, as though he expected great change ahead. Turmoil and conflict, perhaps even greater than the assault of the Carnivorous Galaxy.

"So you feel there's a storm coming? From what, rumors?" Anton acted incredulous. Of course, in actuality he knew better.

"Just a gut feeling, Anton. Could come to something, could come to nothing. But if I were you, I'd sharpen my skills and my blade. We caught more chatter over the dimensional boombox the other day. The same word, in several different languages, from several different universes. The context we don't know of course, but I don't like the sound of it."

Anton pushed his back off the tree, spinning his machete in his hand. "A word, huh. Well, must be some word to get you all worked up. What might it be?"

"Aerowen."

Chimera System, Afonte

Admiral Cybil gave the signal, and the Apex Predator began to lead the rest of the fleet out of the red giant. He checked the shielding of the fleet's cruisers. Still at 65% on average. Assault-class cruisers and up were armed with shielding designed to withstand the heat from the core of a yellow star, so the reduced temperatures of Afonte were hardly a challenge- the Sun Parasite was largely responsible for any damage their shielding might have received. It had put up abit of a fight too, but ultimately, there were very few lifeforms that could take several full on Glassers and proton charges to the face.

The Sun Parasite could be classified as a Class B threat, one a single fleet was well capable of engaging. A Class A threat would require a full military commitment from any of the galaxy's strongest militaries (Well, maybe abit less for Zeus), and a Class S...well, he'd seen one. It had devoured his homeworld, the star system it belonged to, and more than a dozen around it. It had been a nightmarish experience for every man, woman and child in the galaxy. First time he'd seen the Boss look so grim since Earth-one's raids.

Time to return to headquarters in Bitelle. He'd take his cut of the pay, get drunk with the mates, maybe play chicken with some transport cruisers. All in a good day's work. Then he noticed the rift. It was difficult to see at first in the blackness of space. But it became increasingly apparent as he drew closer, a strangely wrong fracture amidst the stars. He gave the command for all vessels to stop. He didn't know what the hell this was...nor did he have much interest in finding out. Leave it to those bloody nerds in labcoats in Skrillex. He wasn't about to take any risks here. He'd take a detour past this...thing, and get the hell out of here. Report it to one of system heads later.

Then he heard the rumbling, a strange warbling from within the blackness. It took a couple of seconds for him to register it. And another couple to realise that he shouldn't have been able to hear anything from space. And then-

Admiral Cybil, the Apex Predator and it's fleet were never seen again.

In an unknown universe, somewhere in the depths of deep space..

------

Lonesome.

If anything else alive was anywhere near this area, they would hear the brilliant humming of gigantic jet propellers. At first, its outline couldn't be seen as it slowly landed down onto the whitish-orange terrain of this empty planet. Though over time, two yellow eyes with strips of red running below them seemed to power on, revealing a silver face near the twenty meter body of the massive machine. Millions of lifeforms knew this creature, and many had tried to destroy it before. It was a guardian, something worthy of fighting a God. Even though it protected, nobody really knew its origin or "heroism". It had no true name, but many preferred to call the bio-machine walking across this empty planet 'Kiryu'. The name could mean many things, in many different languages. Some were brightened by this word, others cursed it. Some feared it.

The machine continued to walk, flexing its bulky, and oddly humanoid legs and creating whirring noises from its glowing orange chest. It had no true purpose to be on this barren land, except to just slowly walk and think. The rectangular mouth of the machine opened, and two disc-esque objects could be seen in the back. That's when a voice was uttered from Kiryu.

".... Alone, again... not that any of this will matter soon, though.."

Kiryu continued to steadily walk across the barren planet, and for the first time felt a sense of peace. Recently, no threats had bothered the multiverse, or even its homeworld. And without threat, it had no purpose. Or so it thought. Suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere Kiryu made a cry of anger and slammed a nearby rock into ashes. The red lines running down its saurian-like face glew brighter, and dimmed again.

"Remember, control..." spoke Kiryu in a worried tone.

It curled both of its five fingered metallic hands into fists, before raising its shoulders and letting out a sigh sounding like, oddly enough, a human being. Kiryu continued to walk, still wondering. What was ahead in this empty void of a world? As it continued to walk, the Multiverse Guardian suddenly felt something from across this universe. It cocked its head towards the direction of the atmosphere, jets near its gargantuan dorsal plates powering on. On its transmitters, a single word of despair rung through.

"Aerowen?"

"Focus, Ubel." Ubel murmured to himself. He was standing tall atop one of the highest peaks in the Rockies. His eyes were shut in deep concentration, focusing intently on building his chi. The immediate vicinity around Ubel started to rattle, violet energy swirled and danced around him, and his body tensed up.

Ubel sighed heavily, taking in massive breaths and releasing them in rhythmic precision. His fingers curled up into tight fists. The mountain he was standing on groaned and cracked from the increasing pressure building up on top it. Said pressures were greater than that of the crushing forces of the deep seas. Ubel's pectoral muscles clenched together tightly, his neck muscles flared, and his veins popped. Ubel's eyes shot open, glowing brightly. He threw his head back, and screamed at the top of his lungs. Immediately after, the energy that had been built up was released downward. The mountain gleamed with purple energy, and erupted into a cloud of dust and millions of rocky fragments.

The shockwave created by the blast caved in nearby mountains, and outright collapsed some of the smaller ones. Debris showered from the sky, and pelted the earth. Ubel floated casually above the newly formed crater, a look of frustration covering his face. The ninja cursed to himself.

"Still not enough." He said. Ubel blasted off back towards his house.

When he arrived, Ubel floated down and sat on the edge of the balcony rails. Ubel looked down at his hands and created a tiny, purple orb in them. He twiddled it around in his fingers for a bit, before crushing the orb into nothingness.

"Another disappointing training session." Ubel thought to himself. If he was to ever become as powerful as Dante, and reach the status of a Prime, he needed to work harder than ever before. A look of steely determination filled Ubel's face; he would make those he cared about proud, and he would reach his brother's level. That was his ultimate goal, and Ubel wouldn't stop until he fulfilled it.

He had to.

The Appalachian Mountains

How fast time flew, for an Abyssian demon. Had it already been a year, a year since Raspaganje's demise? A year since the Lord of Decay had perished in his attempt to gain the power of the Heart of the Multiverse? What a year it had been... And yet, a quiet one for the world of men and monsters.

North America especially had changed during that year. Once, the folly of man had created a resurgence in the supernatural, and civilization had been all but destroyed in but a few key locations, one of them being the country to the north, and a few isolated cities along the eastern half of the states. Now, man was starting to regain their power, and reclaim their territory. The hordes of undead that once plagued the plains and forests of the states were being burned away, slowly but surely, and man was creeping back to the west, toward the pacific.

But some men journeyed too far.

Within a lone ziggurat at the base of the Appalachians, the ruler of this world was seated on her throne. She appeared like an ordinary human, no different from the dead that lay at her feet at quick glance. Her hair was long and white as snow, and her cloak tattered and black. Her hair was covering the right side of her face, and a sweet smile spread as she looked down at the once living bodies beneath her heels.

"How bold you humans are becoming. I make this land peace, yet you come not to worship but to steal." She purred, raising up her left hand. Blood dripped from the sharpened nails on the end of her fingers, and she flicked it off. " Most humans never change. Even three hundred years ago when I took on your form, you always bit off more than you could chew... but then, aren't I the same?"

She turned her head, and a gentle breeze flowing through the temple blew away her hair. Underneath was an empty eye socket, crusted with dried blood and pieces of flesh. Oh how the year had changed for her. It had been easy for her to establish her domain over the undead that still roamed the continent, and a year of relative peace, with her pulling her forces back to give humanity some breathing space had ensured. Of course, there were a few anomalies... Ubel's presence was certainly known, especially after what happened in South Dakota. Alas, that was a trespass she had to give the ninja, both because of his stance as a now ally, and because the vast gulf in power between them. If she was the ruler, then he was the foreign presence unimaginably beyond her in every way, and as she shifted herself on the throne, her body still ached from the blows Ubel and his sister had given to her back then.

She sighed. If Raspaganje couldn't have his cake and eat it, then why should she? Nothing was perfect, after all. With her own sister and her dear friend Molly safe in the town of Regina in Canada, it was her duty to keep this world under her thumb, even as the old tyrannical blood resurfaced within. With little happening in the past year, she wanted to become complacent, but that wasn't an option. These humans were hers to lord over, for her to protect and shepherd, and any creature who dared defy her, or any band of thieves, would pay the ultimate price.

She chuckled lowly as she leaned back into her throne. This was the world of Demogorgon, a world she had helped create, and she was stronger than ever before.

Up within the highest peaks of heaven, stood Dante behind a sterling silver stand, embossed with bronze crosses. He wore a very nice white cardigan, and slim fitted grey jeans. Dante was in a courtroom of sorts, albeit much larger and magnificent than any other. The floor was essentially one massive cloud, and thousands of golden and leather stitched chairs covered it in a semi circle. Above Dante was a second floor, sitting two, significantly larger judges' chairs. Sitting in said chairs were two powerful elder gods: Dionysus and Odin, both clothed in pure white robes, with golden halos floating above their heads. Both gods leered down at Dante, their faces full of disdain. Surrounding the ninja at all sides, standing far away were dozens of angelic guards and warriors. They had apparently been summoned here on orders to watch Dante's every move, but the latter knew the real reason why. They were to execute him if he said the wrong thing, or moved the wrong way. He glanced around the room at all of them; they didn't scare him, and Dante was perfectly comfortable with all of the eyes staring intently at him.

"Today, you stand before us accused of all the treacherous crimes you, and your kind have wrought upon the multiverse." Odin boomed. His voice was powerful and commanding, filling the entire room.

Dante peered up at Odin and calmly raised an eyebrow. "Well, this is a far cry from last year, isn't it? I thought my siblings and I proved ourselves when we helped save the multiverse." He challenged.

"That was merely for the greater good of the multiverse, cretin." Odin retorted dryly. "Everything was at stake; your assistance proves nothing of your kind's true nature."

Dionysus took a sip of the red wine he had in a ruby cup, and nodded in agreement. "You see Dante, in our eyes, that still doesn't make up for the countless atrocities your kind have pulled in the past. Especially, your father." He said. His voice was a lot more airy and nonchalant, almost sleepy sounding. "But you already knew that, didn't you, Prime?" Dionysus asked rhetorically. "You haven't forgotten all of the things you and your father committed, did you?"

Dante frowned. "I am nothing like my father. He was an evil and sadistic tyrant; I, nor my siblings are neither of those things." He stated firmly.

"Oh? And what of all the societies you burned to the ground with the help of your bloodthirsty friend: Zero?!" Odin shot back, now leaning forward in his seat. "What was your excuse then?!"

Dante hung his head and closed his eyes. "That was a long time ago, he means nothing to me now." Dante looked up at all of the beings glaring down at him. "That's not who I am!" He exclaimed.

"That is what they all say, ninja, you're no different." Dionysus said exasperated.

"Besides, we all know that you were the one who threatened all of existence mere twelve months ago." Odin added.

Dante furrowed his brow in disbelief. Wa...Was he actually being serious? "I... You do know that that was somebody completely different, right? My head would be in a crater right now if that was really me." He said. "I thought the black and red armor and raging orange eyes would have been an indicator but... I guess I was wrong."

"SILENCE!" Odin roared, slamming his fist down. "Ninjas are nothing more than bloodthirsty killers that destroy and ruin everything they touch. Society doesn't accept your kind, Prime, and they never will. Remember that." He growled.

Dante sighed in annoyance; he was so over this. "Look, I know that my kind and I have done some horrible things in the past, and we own that, and have reaped the consequences that have come from those mistakes." He said. "But the past is the past, and I can assure the both of you that when a new presence arises to threaten the multiverse again, my siblings and I will be at the forefront to help defeat it again... Whether we are 'socially accepted' or not."

Odin narrowed his eyes. There was an air of silence in the room afterward, seemingly lasting for an eternity, before Odin grunted. "We shall see, ninja prime." He grumbled. "Now, leave us at once!"

Dante glared up at the god for a few moments, before he finally turned, casually held out a hand, and opened a portal. Once he walked through, the portal collapsed in on itself, and the ninja prime was gone. Odin leaned back in his chair and stroked his long, white beard in thought. Dionysus took another sip of his wine and tsked.

"Do you believe he and his kind are to be trusted?" Dionysus asked.

Odin didn't respond; he didn't quite know himself, honestly. That was a question, however, he couldn't wait to answer.

Vigorian Hall

Aerowen arrived an hour late to the scheduled meeting, strutting in without a care. She went to her throne overlooking the vast room, and plopped down in it. The Vigorian Hall was quite enormous, at least half a mile wide. Three dozen, blood red, alcantara chairs surrounding a large, circular, and copper table. Hundreds of Blood Assassins, all females, both sat and stood in every corner of the room. Three older women sat at the head of the table, all clothed in purple robing; these were the leaders of the council. They peered up at Aerowen with noticeable disdain upon her late arrival. One of them grunted at her... Lack of real clothing.

"Lady Aerowen, our queen, it is nice of you to finally join us." One of them spoke, her voice raspy and frail. All of the assassins within the hall quickly bowed.

Aerowen gazed down at them, her face containing exasperated annoyance. "What is it you want now, Athena?" She said.

Athena nervously cleared her throat. "Well, you see your excellency, the campaign has yet to begin." She responded.

"It is your duty as our queen, to see to it that this quest is carried out to the letter." Another council woman added. "We need to make sure that you are fully prepared to fulfill your destin-"

"Let me stop you right there." Aerowen sharply interrupted, holding up a hand. The three women immediately hung their heads, not wanting to face Aerowen's cold glare. "For the past six years, all you have done is constantly badger me with the same, tired schlock, and I'm sick of it. All of this is the biggest waste of time that I have ever had the displeasure of being a part of, and the only reason why I'm even going through with this damn campaign, is to make the three you of shut the hell up about it. My 'destiny' has nothing to do with it." Aerowen hissed dryly.

Athena shot to her feet and banged her fists on the table. Her wrinkled face was scrunched in anger. "Insolent girl!" She yelled. "Your mother would be ashamed of what sat before us today; you are an absolute disgrace to this proud nat-"

Athena's words were cut short, replaced with a gasp of absolute shock and horror. She looked down and laid witness to Aerowen's hand plunged deep within her chest. Athena peered up and into her leery stare; it was the last thing that Athena would ever see. Aerowen swiftly removed her hand and brought with it, Athena's still beating heart. The latter's limp body slumped over the table with a hard thump, as blood stained the surface. The two remaining council women looked on in terror, quickly dropping to their knees upon Aerowen turning to look at them. The other assassins stared on in shock, some of them quietly murmuring to one another.

Aerowen crushed the heart in her hand and dropped it to the floor. She gazed around the room. "Does anyone else have a problem with my leadership?!" She demanded.

"NO, OUR QUEEN." Everyone stated in unison, bowing.

"Good." She growled. "We will begin the campaign when I say so, and not a second sooner. Is that clear?"

"YES, OUR QUEEN." Everyone said again.

Aerowen turned her attention to the corpse of Athena and sneered. She then looked down at the two women groveling at her feet. "You two, clean this incessant bitch up and leave my site at once." Aerowen calmly ordered.

Without any words, the women did what they were told and carried the body away. Aerowen stared after them while Cytherea timidly walked up to her.

"She had to be silenced; no one speaks to you like that, your majesty." Cytherea said.

"Quit groveling." Aerowen retorted, unimpressed, and headed back to her room, with Cytherea nipping at her heels like a lovesick puppy.

In the Underworld all one could hear was humming, jovial humming. The dead were undecided as to whether this was soothing or utterly disturbing so they settled on a happy medium. Following the hums was the water flowing through the caves, being gently pushed by a pale hand holding a paddle. The boat was maybe a two person, maybe three if you were lucky and the pace was leisurely, as if it was indeed not carrying the dead to their final destination. The hand belonged to an almost skeletal man with a fine smile, though his teeth had rotted away. A thin layer of skin covered his body with some stitches keeping it together in some places. His eyes were a sickly yellow and orange mix. To hide this he wore a black cloak to cover himself. Despite all this, he still had an air of friendly familiarity with the dead that he ferried over. This was nothing but a job to him so why be so glum? He gave people the kindness they needed before they were judged for their actions in life, he was the neutral party that carried them over. Neutral might be the wrong word for it, he had a strong sense of justice, he just always gave the dead the benefit of the doubt. His voice was a gravelly but still friendly Scottish brogue, one that no one expected. This was the Riverman, Charon, whatever you wanted to call him, the ferryman of the dead.

The day started nothing special, he was carrying a pair of the dead together. This time it was a set of old lovers who died hours apart. These types of stories always made him smile and joke around with them. The dead for a year now had reminded him of an old friend, someone that gave their existence away for the multiverse. Death, who had passed his torch to the Riverman, a misunderstood but not malicious being. But Death had fought for Life, as the balance needed to be kept stable. His hands shook slightly as he remembered this, the boat slightly rocking as he kept paddling. He’d never forget it...

CREAK! CREAK! CREAK!

“Bloody hell, we’ve hit land already?!”

The Riverman looked confused for a moment before noticing that something was off. There was light. There was walls. THERE WAS COLOR!

“Y’always got to do this don’t ya ye bastard!” The Riverman sighed. “I was doing me job!”

Before him stood a modern looking man in a business suit, gray hair and round glasses. He sat at a desk in a formal fashion, though the desk was slightly messy due to stress. This was the Unknown, one of the Ten. The Ten were the guardians of the multiverse, beings that made sure everything in the multiverse worked as it should. The Riverman was also somewhat one of them but after Death’s disappearance he was formally added to their ranks. The Unknown looked to the couple, who were shocked and scared by this. He had a sheepish grin.

“Ah, sorry about that. Go out the door, you should make it to the other side.” The Unknown said with an apologetic chuckle.

When they left, he turned to the Riverman. His face had turned grim, the lack of a smile seemed to age him even more than he already looked.

“Well, this involves your other job, Charon. The one that decides the fate of our very existence.” His voice was low and his mannerisms were panicked. “Death’s disappearance has caused some...unforeseen problems. Ones that we can’t deal with alone.”

Problems? Oh, I don’t know anything about that, busting me arse all day for ya bastards! I see it everyday, I’m working overtime for ya! And then ye come to me to talk about problems?” The Riverman stood up out of his boat, trying to look as serious as he could as a short old man standing in a boat.

“Do you really think I’d come here if it wasn’t urgent? This is more than the dead being clogged back to last year, this is more than even the supernova in Universe 1000 that wiped out trillions. We’re talking about a thing that could bring an end to the Ten, something that wants us out of the picture.” The Unknown paced around his desk, gesture frantically. “Don’t you see? Death being gone has opened the floodgates for worse. You had to have known this was happening. Now it’s back. I contained it in one universe and still it lives.”

“What the hell are ye talkin’ about? Can’t ye give me a straight answer?” The Riverman growled.

The Unknown heistated.

“The mask and it’s host are awake.”

Proxima Centuari b (Proxima b)

"This is it?" a relatively high-pitched and scratchy voice questioned.

"Yes," a deeper one responded.

"Well, what are you waiting for? It is not like we are here for anything else, as there is nothing else of value to procure! Begin the descent to this rock!"

A large round ship which carried the bearers of these voices, as well as many others on it, began to lower itself onto the planet. The jets on the underside of the ship coming closer to the barren surface of the planet kicked up a cloud of dust and rock as several slots on the side of the vehicle opened and reveled large folding metal rods with small platforms under them. These legs made contact with the rocky surface, and the jets gently lowering the ship were powered off, momentarily leaving only the humming of the slowing engines trailed to a halt as the audible sound aside from the occasional clicking of keyboard buttons.

"Descent successful," another voice soon rang.

A wicked smirk took over a small demon-looking creature's face. He gazed outside of the large window in the main room of the ship, looking at the landscape of the planet.

"Alright, men. Let us find the shard the scouters indicated as soon as possible. This search is becoming quite bothersome," he spoke.

The creature then looked down at the front of his hover chair, which revealed four other sizable shards with beautiful tones of magenta, purple and a slight hint of gold to them. He put a small device over his left eye, and lifted the four crystalline objects with telekinesis. He then turned to a door which led out of the room, having a group of twelve men in suit; two of which were quite a bit larger than the rest and on either side of the hover chair of what was evidently the leader occupied.

Ubel had had a rather... Interesting evening in the city of Regina. He had been kicked out of three restaurants due to accidentally breaking their tables, a family made him take a picture of them with the glowing things that humans are always looking at, and a strange man with a painted white face and striped clothing awkwardly twisted and turned in front of him. Ubel constantly asked the man if he was alright, but never got an answer. Just bizarre faces from the man. It always saddened Ubel to see a mute. Yes yes, the ninja did still try to stay away from humanity for their sake... But Ubel couldn't just stay cooped up forever, less he be driven to the brink of insanity.

In any case, Ubel was now sitting on a park side bench, strumming away at this odd instrument that the humans called, a guitar. Though it was Ubel's own take on said instrument, with violet markings embedded all over, and golden strings, it was still a guitar. The ninja's favorite pastime had always been playing various instruments back at home, his favorite being the ninja equivalent of a piano. Ubel had picked up and mastered the guitar very quickly, only taking him four days to really get it. The next step was simply studying what kind of music that mankind listened to. A lot of it was an assault on Ubel's ears, sounding more like star wolves being skinned alive than actual music. There was one band though, that Ubel did quickly warm up to: The Beatles. What a group of people had anything to do with a small, black insect, Ubel would never know... But at least they made good music.

Along with various tunes from home, Ubel played compilations of his favorite songs from The Beatles, striking every single note perfectly. Music always calmed the big ninja down, ever since he was a child. It reminded him of the times when everything wasn't so needlessly complicated, and the multiverse had been at peace for hundreds of years. Those were nothing more than memories now. Ubel closed his eyes and hummed softly, his voice serene and gentle. His fingers continued to pick at the strings, effortlessly and seamlessly transitioning from one melody to another. Ubel had been so entrenched within his own thoughts, that he hadn't even noticed that he had drawn quite the crowd to him. Humans young and old surrounded him, all either smiling or swaying along with the music. Ubel didn't really pay it any mind, but the energy that naturally flowed throughout his fingertips was boosting and enhancing the sound.

Ubel looked around at all of the people that came to simply hear him play and sing. He smiled softly. So this is what it felt like to be accepted. Deep down however, Ubel knew that this wasn't real; the crowd standing before him didn't know who nor what he really was. It saddened him a bit, but Ubel remembered back to what their mother had always told them: appreciate all of the little things in life, however swift they might be. Ubel put everything else aside for now, and continued to create sweet music, and a beautiful moment with the crowd.

Realm of the Ninja
2:00 PM

Within the walls of the largest training room of the kingdom, both Evron and Daeva were hard at work doing highly intense regimes, pushing themselves to the brink. Evron was currently wailing and kicking away at multiple, diamond hard dummies, while Daeva was blitzing through various trials in the wind tunnel. All four ninjas would normally train like this three times a day, but today was different. Instead of breaking the training up into different parts throughout the day, Evron and Daeva combined everything into one, grueling session. They hadn't stopped nor slowed a bit since they began three hours ago. This type of training was reserved for important moments only, and this was one of those times. The ninjas had a mission, and they needed to be ready.

A swirling green portal suddenly appeared in the center of the room, and Dante stepped through. Daeva and Evron immediately stopped their work and went over to him.

"Sooo... How'd it go?" Evron asked.

Dante gave him a look that said it all.

"I figured." Evron muttered, rolling his eyes.

"It was a complete waste of time; they didn't even care about anything I had to say!" Dante said, frustrated.

Evron shrugged his shoulders. "What can I say, bro? Elder gods are all a bunch of pretentious, crotchety assholes with nothing better to do than sit on their asses all day."

"You can say that again." Dante agreed.

"On another note," Daeva piped in, "why didn't you ask us to come along?"

"Because they only needed one of us to go, I’m the oldest, Evron couldn't care less, and you’d be a distraction." Dante affirmed.

Evron gave Daeva a look that said, "I told you so", to which the latter responded by sticking her tongue out.

"In any case, even if we all went, it still wouldn't make a difference; they would say the exact same thing that they said to me, accept to all of us." Dante said. He leaned against a nearby window and sighed heavily. "This stinks." He muttered.

"Do you think we'll ever be accepted, Dante?" Daeva asked, almost rhetorical in the way it sounded.

Dante slowly shook his head. "I don't know, sis... But I'm doing my best to make that dream a reality one day. That's why I keep doing stuff like going to these stupid meetings. I don't like doing it, but if just one of them can help us, then I'll be happy."

Daeva smiled. "I know you'll make us proud, big bro, and just know that whatever happens... We'll be right your side, no matter what."

Evron nodded and smirked. "What are siblings for, right?" He mused.

Dante's green eyes glowed brightly with reassured happiness, and he embraced both ninjas tightly. "I love you guys." He said.

"We love you too." They both replied in muffled voices. Evron pushed away and socked Dante on the arm.

"Now, enough with the mushy crap, we've got a mission to take care of." He stated

Daeva took a swig of the cup of water she suddenly had, and nodded. "One the few societies that actually likes us, have been under the control of some tyrannical dictator for decades. Now though, they've somehow managed to weaken his grasp." She said.

"And they need us to help finish the job." Evron noted.

Dante crossed his arms tightly. "Well, what are we waiting for? Gear u-" He stopped mid sentence and furrowed his brow. Dante turned his head slightly upward and frowned.

Evron and Daeva looked at one another, confused.

"What is it?" Evron asked.

Dante didn't answer at first, continuing to stare at the ceiling. Finally, he broke the air of silence by saying, "Nothing."

Evron raised an eyebrow. "You sure? Because you just looked like you saw a gho-"

"It's nothing, really." Dante quickly replied. "I'll clue you in on the way to the mission. Now, both of you gear up, we're leaving in ten."

Without anymore words, Daeva and Evron shot each other one last look before quickly teleporting out of the training room. Dante shut his eyes and concentrated.

"I thought that I destroyed it." He said to himself.

The circular hallways of the ship's interior seemed to bend endlessly, until the squadron of soldiers reached the exit door, which opened downward; making itself a bridge to connect with the rocky surface of the planet. The men on foot were the first to make contact with the surface, each with weapons drawn in case of a threat. Pushing a button on the device which he had attached on the left side of his face, the small demon-like creature watched the series of strange symbols rapidly change like the spinners of a slot machine. When the values stopped changing and displayed arrows pointing in multiple directions, the slightest hint of surprise took over his face.

"So, it seems we are not alone on this rock after all," he said with some annoyance in his voice.

The large purple being on the right side of the hover chair snickered. "Which one do you think we should take care of first, boss? You know I am ready for a good fight after all of the races on our previous destinations proved just how feeble they were!"

"Patience, Dodoria." the small creature responded. Looking at the arrows and reading the corresponding values which were displayed alongside them, it seemed he had some trouble deciding which one would yield the best results.

"Alright, let us go for that one over there," he finally spoke with a wicked smile.

With that, all of the soldiers that were on the ground nodded with approval and immediately rise into the air, and with a aura of white light surrounding them, took off in the direction that was chosen by their leader. The three that had remained on the lowering door followed suit when a blue aura overtook them, and they sped off into the same direction; taking no time to catch up with the others en route.

In mid flight, a sinister grin remained on the small creature's face as the thoughts of what this mission's success wold bring raced through his head.

Why... Why did that name affect Aerowen in such an, "exotic" manner? A part of her was disgusted from feeling this way, but she just... She couldn't help herself. Aerowen's mind was a jumbled web of varying emotions, each desperately trying to gain dominance over the other. It was a wonder how she made it this far without completely breaking down. Her subjects carried out all of her orders to the letter, but deep down, they all knew the truth: their queen was highly unstable, and could lose her mind at any moment. They also knew that the only thing that truly kept Aerowen "sane", was that of their mortal enemy. It was blasphemy, but they couldn't do anything about it, less Aerowen slaughters them all for questioning and defying her. So her army of assassins kept their mouths shut and hoped that one day, Aerowen would break through this blind, and childish obsession she had, and begin to see the real truth.

Aerowen had quickly sent Cytherea away in order to take care of some, "personal" business of hers. After she was finished, Aerowen sat on the edge of her bed and stared blankly at the hundreds of portraits of him hanging from her walls. There she sat, unmoved for hours, studying every minute detail of his face, his hair, his eyes... Everything. Aerowen grabbed one of Eternal Fracture, and calmly and surgically began to slit her wrists down to her elbows. Dark red blood sprayed and splattered all over her body, the floor, and her bed. Aerowen let out a dull moan of ecstasy and collapsed on her bed. She dragged a finger up her stomach, covering it in her blood, and sucked it down without a care. Aerowen sighed deeply and looked at her bloodied arms; they had already sowed themselves up and erased the deep scars. She would do this procedure several times a day. Aerowen giggled. That giggle soon turned into a full on bout of laughter, before then transitioning into a disturbing cackle. She clenched the right side of her face, staining it with her own blood, and laughed louder and louder. She didn't know why she was laughing, she just was. Aerowen stopped abruptly, and stared blankly at the ceiling. She brought her fingers up into view and got lost in their crimson coloration.

Dante. There went that name again, surging through Aerowen's mind, and it affected her so.

Ecstasy.

Ubel didn't stop playing his guitar. His fingers strumming and twiddling every string with pinpoint precision, and in perfect harmony. The guitar hummed gently along with every successful pick, resonating within Ubel's powerful hands. The ninja and his gorgeous partner had become one; a single entity hell bent on creating beautiful music for all of those listening. The already giant crowd that was dancing and humming along, had grown even larger within the past few minutes. The setting sun cast a beautiful, warm, and orange glow across Regina. Several people had gotten out lighters and those glowing, metal devices, and began waving them slowly in the air.

Soon enough, Ubel started to sing. His voice was angelic and mesmerizing, soft yet reassuring. Ubel sung one of his favorite songs that he had recently discovered: Bloom: by Rhodes. It was such a simple yet graceful song, and radiated with a sense of life and peaceful times. Said things were what Ubel dreamed of everyday. He sang with all of his resolve, the world disappearing around him. Ubel wasn't just singing to himself, or the crowd that surrounded him; he was singing to the entire world. His voice enhanced itself and traveled around the entire globe through the winds and clouds; it was almost as though the Earth itself was singing and soothing the life that inhabited it.

Small tears inadvertently began to swell in the corners of Ubel's eyes. While it was best for him to stay away from everyone, Ubel couldn't help himself at the moment. The music had lulled him into a trance, one that he didn't wish to be snapped out of. The thought of ninjas being accepted one day always made him emotional, especially whenever he played any music. It was only a pipe dream at the moment, but Ubel had hope.

A hope for a better future.

The convoy of soldiers sped through the air at terrific speeds, all headed in the direction they had selected; which the devices on their faces tracked. No more than a few minutes had passed since their departure before the warriors closed in on their destination. On the ground, several locals looked up into the sky and took notice of the gleaming lights seemingly headed straight for them. Believing it to be a meteor shower of sorts, the race of aliens looked up at the gleaming lights headed straight for their dwellings, unaware of the disaster in store these lights truly held.

The first to land were armored guards. These soldiers themselves consisted of various races; some appearing to be reptilian, others mammalian, and a few appearing even human. The next to land were the three most-important looking of the group, which consisted of the two largest warriors of the group, and a small, demonic-looking creature in a hovering chair.

Some of the alien beings that had gazed in amazement at the arrival of these warriors looked on speechless.

Finally, the small demon-looking creature broke the silence with a rather high-pitched voice. "Dodoria, do any of these fools look like they may hold what we are looking for?".

Using the device over his right eye, the large purple being moved his head in the direction of the aliens to gather readings of their power levels. The aliens in question appeared to be quite human in appearance, except that they had sky-blue skin and a brightly glowing teal-like color was clearly visible in some of their veins as well as in the iris of their eyes. The device showed nothing special after the scan was finished, and the large purple creature frowned.

"Nope, I've got nothing," he responded.

The small demon-like creature did not seem to lose his unsettling smirk in spite of this news, however. In fact, it seemed to almost please him that this was the case.

"Well, if it is not here, you don't think they'd happen to know where it might be held, do you?" he intentionally spoke aloud.

Some of the aliens that were looking on at the group seemed to stir uneasily at this notion.

Everette: Realm of Ice
10:50 AM

Snow and ice covered every crevice of this small realm, the former falling at a consistent rate nonstop. The temperature was several thousand degrees below zero, and the air itself quite literally creaked and crackled from the cold. This was Everette: The realm of eternal ice. It was a rather small realm, comparatively speaking, and yet it possessed some of the lowest temperatures in the known multiverse. 99.8% of the land was covered in solid snow and ice; the other two percent were a few tall mountains in the far west, and a stone, multi-layered castle in the far north. For two thousand years, Everette had been ruled under the iron fist of a merciless dictator: Zephyr: a seven foot tall gargoyle with the power to control the earth around him. Zephyr's might was completely unmatched by the peaceful, sasquatch-looking citizens of this realm, and whatever freedom fighters that had tried to oppose him were quickly slaughtered by his legion of gargoyle soldiers. Over the last three hundred years however, Zephyr's power has started to wain, and his hold on the land beginning to slip. Using this opportunity to rise up against their ruthless leader, the Everettians waged civil war against Zephyr's army, desperately fighting to free themselves from his grasp. With steely determination, they managed to dwindle Zephyr's forces down considerably and weaken his entire foundation; the Everettians just couldn't make the final push to finish the job. That is why the summed up the nerve to contact their closest allies for support, and the ninja clan was happy to help.

Now, at the highest mountain peak of Everette, Dante, Evron, and Daeva, all suited up in their respective armor and gear... Were preparing for battle. Dante looked down the mountain, and at the war that raged below. Massive explosions shook the land every few seconds, dying screams and savage gunfire filled the air, and bouts of thick smoke billowed in the sky. The Ninja Prime glared at the monstrous gargoyles ruthlessly slaughtering the ones he named allies, and cracked his knuckles. They would pay dearly for that.

"So what's the plan here, Dante?" Evron suddenly spoke up in a heavily synthesized voice. "We're not just gonna sit up here all day, are we? I'm ready to kill those evil bastards and go home."

"We've literally been up here for five minutes." Daeva chimed in.

"Well, it SEEMS like we've been up here longer, thank you." Evron retorted dryly. "I mean the Everettians are getting destroyed down there and- Oooo, that guy just lost his head. Damn. Ouch."

Daeva rolled her eyes back as far as they could go. "You... I don't even know how to describe you, bro." She said.

Evron looked at her, his helmet covering his annoyed stare. He grunted and glanced at Dante. "Dante, you there?" Evron called out. No response.

Dante kept mulling over the thought of a weapon of mass destruction still being out there somewhere. A weapon he thought that he had long since destroyed, and the ninja Prime had no idea where it was. Dante cursed to himself; this was all Zero's fault. He never should have let that bastard into his life, and manipulate him as easy as he did. Dante looked over his shoulder upon Evron slapping him on the back.

"Look, don't worry about the Ettrene Crystal, alright? After we get done here, we'll go out and search the entire multiverse for the damn thing if we have to." Evron reassured.

Dante smiled under his mask. "Thanks, Evron." He said.

Evron nodded. "And hell, maybe we'll even ask SHE where it-"

"NO." Dante quickly stated, visibly shuddering at the prospect. The ninjas only summoned SHE when it was truly necessary, and while this may have been one of those times, Dante really didn't want to risk it right now.

"I swear that woman takes a small piece of me whenever I'm near her." Daeva agreed, briskly shaking her head.

"Ugh, whatever, can we get to killing some stuff BEFORE our allies are wiped out?" Evron responded exasperatingly.

"Yes, right." Dante nodded. "We'll go in behind enemy lines and take out as much of the opposition as we can. That should be enough for the Everettians to turn the tables, while we make a push inside of Zephyr's castle. Once we find and kill him, we'll help clean up the rest of his legion. Clear?" Dante stated firmly.

"Sounds good to me." Evron confirmed.

"Let's do it." Daeva eagerly said, her eyes glowing brightly.

With that, both Evron and Daeva flipped and leaped off the edge of the mountain, and dived down into the titanic battle below. Dante stared after them, before looking up at the smoke filled sky. Such brought back so many memories for him, all painful and filled with the endless cries and screams of his victims. Those were sins that he would forever have to bear, and ones that he could never take back, as much as tried to every single day. They now haunted him, and Dante could only accept it. This was all their father's fault, and the one whom Dante called a "friend". The regret within the ninja Prime was nearly unbearable at times. With a deep, and heavy sigh, Dante reigned in his emotions and swan dived off the edge after his siblings, and into the civil war.

***************************************************

As the ninjas descended down the mountain, Dante spotted Zephyr's castle at the bottom of a deep ravine about ten miles away. It was a straight shot, but there was an entire wave of enemies standing in their way. Such wouldn't be much of a problem. The Everettians had managed to do a good job at holding the enemy back, and were busy tearing gargoyles in half with their bare hands, and bludgeoning others with their ice sickle spears and arrows.

"There!" Dante called out telepathically, setting a waypoint on the castle."That's our target... Are the both of you ready?"

"I've been ready!" Evron stated.

"Ready!" Daeva said.

The ninja trio continued their high speed descent, dodging incoming artillery and laser fire and readying their respective weapons. Once they got within 50 feet of ground level, they pulled up at the last minute and unsheathed their blades.

"Engage!" Dante shouted and proceeded to tackle a gargoyle, katanas first, and cleaved the reptilian being in two. Dante went on to bisect and eviscerate fifteen more surprised foot soldiers, before throwing one of the Jewels of Valor straight into a gargoyle's chest. The ninja Prime dashed toward the dying being, ripped the sword away, flipped over the beast's head, and used that same blade to behead him. Dante's immense momentum carried him further down the hill that the battle was waging on. A squad of twenty gargoyles opened fire on the powerful warrior, unloading massive amounts of laser and bullet fire at him. Dante slid, twisted, and danced around all of it with ease. He then teleported right into the enemy's face and spun like a top at light plus speeds. The beastly soldiers tried desperately to run, but were immediately turned into bloodied chunks. Dante stopped on a dime, wiped the Jewels clean, and continued forward, killing hundreds of the animalistic beings, and saving a myriad of Everettians from certain death.

While all three ninjas may have landed at the same time, that didn't mean that they were all at the same point. Daeva had already covered five of the ten miles that they needed to cross, the second she touched land. She didn't hold her speed back a smidgen and blitzed through a sea of gargoyles with one fell swoop. Daeva surged toward a dozen soldiers at hyper speed, Swift Retribution at her side. The gargoyles were quite literally halted in place from Daeva's point of view, but on their end, all of them were preparing to obliterate her with their rifles. Such was far, far too late. Daeva was already two miles away by that time, and her after image had done an excellent job of tripping the soldiers up. Time finally managed to catch up to the gargoyles, and they all suddenly erupted into a cloud of blood and sliced off limbs. Daeva used Swift Retribution as a makeshift pole to vault herself feet first at a gargoyle. The ninja then twisted like a screw, and, as the beast let out a chortled screech, she pulverized it into ground beef. Daeva went on to charge a quick Ultimate Technique, and blinked out of existence. Suddenly, she appeared right behind 50 confused foot soldiers half a second later and wiped her blade clean. The monsters collapsed into cleanly sliced peaces, and Daeva flicked her hair proudly at her work.

As Daeva was clearing the opposition miles away, Evron was back assisting Dante and the Everettians mop of the rest of the foot soldiers in the area. One larger Everettian scooped Evron up and launched him at a group of gargoyles several yards away. With a growled shout, Evron hurled Shikoro Ken into one solider's head, and then ground pounded three more. Using his Fists of the Accursed, Evron went on to mercilessly punch enormous holes into his enemies, ripped out their hearts, and ripped them apart. The ninja snatched Shikoro Ken out from the twitching gargoyle's skull, dashed forward, and cleaved two more that were trying to tackle Dante from behind, in half. Evron held out his right hand and shot Dante a look. The latter quickly nodded and grabbed a hold of it firmly. Dante proceeded to casually hurl Evron a mile forward, directly into the face of an unsuspecting reptilian. Evron plunged his sword straight through its neck and slashed upward, brutally tearing the head in two with a wet and juicy "RIP!" Dante then sailed over Evron and sliced three more down the middle. The ninja brothers charged together after Daeva, whom of which had slowed her speed down so they could finally catch up. The ninjas had at last reached the end of the hill, and without hesitation, they dived off in perfect unison.

They had held back on Zephyr's army, but now... They would not show him the same kindness. The castle was only a few hundred feet away now; the Everettians would soon be free at last.

The small creature in the chair looked at the expressions of growing concern on the local races' faces before him. "Oh, my apologies, friends. I doubt I need an introduction, but just in case, I am the mighty Frieza, and yes, all the horrible stories you've heard are true," he spoke.

The small group of alien creatures still did not speak.

"Alright then, allow me to lay it on the line: my scouter picked up more of your kind on this planet. All I want to know is where they are so I may ask them where they might know where to find something that looks like this.."

One of the shards rose from Frieza's side in the chair, not breaking his calm yet unnerving stare on the group of aliens before his squadron.

Finally one of the beings, a relatively older male of the species, without breaking eye contact from the ground almost as if in shame, responded with "Δεν ξέρω τι ψάχνεις,".

Frieza's face turned to one of annoyance at this. "Don't play dumb with me. You know very well what I am saying, and also know how to answer it. I do not want to have to use force, but if I must, I will," he replied sharply.

Hours after Ubel had wowed the city of Regina with his miniature, "concert" of sorts, the ninja was unanimously invited to hang out with two women at their apartment a few blocks away. One was a long, and slender blonde with extraordinarily green eyes for a human, and the other was a short and petite redhead, with a face full of freckles and hazel eyes. Said women were roommates, and had apparently been so for over a year now. Ubel honestly didn't wish to tag along with these two, strange, and overly affectionate girls, but they insisted and forcefully dragged him along. They kept poking and prodding Ubel with their painted fingernails, much to the former's dismay, and would giggle incessantly at everything he said. Ubel was mystified by this strange behavior; humans were a lot weirder than he had previously thought. The girls had finally made it to their apartment building, which was surprisingly well-kept and modern, and practically shoved Ubel inside. What happened next was what Ubel could only describe as, “lascivious activity”. VERY lascivious activity. Both women were absolutely relentless in their quest for ultimate desire; their thirst seemingly unquenchable. Ubel could do nothing more than appease the ever growing appetite of both girls, and hoped to the Yakuza that they burned themselves out before long.

Two hours later, Ubel lied in one of their queen-sized beds, with both snuggled tightly up against him, fast asleep. Ubel stared blankly at the twirling ceiling fan above, recounting just what in the world had transpired tonight. Usually, said act of wild desire was always at the very least, a pleasurable one. This time however, this time was different. Ubel almost felt as though if he'd committed a crime for doing what he did. That since of satisfaction and achievement wasn't there, and the ninja knew exactly why. His mind, hell, his heart for that matter, had long since settled onto just one person alone. Ubel almost felt a sense of betrayal for what he did... That he betrayed her.

Ubel couldn't remain in bed with these two, incredibly lustrous girls any longer. With the touch and ease of handling a newborn child, Ubel moved both girls' arms off of him, and quickly teleported out of the apartment.

Deep within the walls of the Vigorian trials arena, Aerowen and Cytheria were busy sparring with one another to hone their skills even further, and keep themselves on point. This specific practice was focused solely on head on fighting tactics. They were already masters of the shadows, so focusing their training on that area would simply be redundant and hassling. There were always ways to improve hand-to-hand combat skills, however small said areas for improvement may have been. Unlike the ninjas in a lot of cases during training, Aerowen nor Cytheria held back against each other; their mindset being that such was an unnecessary false barrier, and a waste of time. One can't truly gauge how strong their opponent is when they're holding back their true potential. Plus, these bronze and adimantium covered walls were designed specifically to take gargantuan amounts of abuse without faltering.

Cytheria was always on the defensive whenever she fought with Aerowen, the latter being immensely more powerful and well rounded than her younger sister. It was such a mismatch, that Aerowen DID occasionally hold back just enough to not outright kill Cytheria; she would lose the only semi-worthy plaything that she had in their realm. While Cytheria was training to hopefully one day become as strong as her sister, Aerowen was working towards another, entirely different goal in mind. She pushed her body to its absolute limits so that, when that faithful day finally came, she would be a worthy match for her one true love. Dante wouldn't be able to resist her then, Aerowen just knew it.

Rushing in at speeds greater than supersonic, Cytheria roared as she went for Aerowen's jugular with her double edged, blood red sword. With just two fingers, Aerowen caught the would be attack and responded with a sharp knee to Cytheria's gut. The blow knocked the wind out of her, and sent the assassin to her knees. Coughing up considerable amounts of blood, Cytheria peered up at her sister standing over her. There was noticeable boredom in Aerowen's eyes, to the point where she almost pitied Cytheria. Almost. Taking a few steps back as to have enough room, Aerowen slammed her left foot brutally into Cytheria's cheek. The latter was hurled across the arena and into one of its walls, smacking into it with enough force to shudder the entire area. Cytheria flopped onto the ground with a dull, and lifeless thud, completely unconscious.

Aerowen lazily untied her hair from the long ponytail she had it in, and tossed the emerald bonnet away. She looked on at her unconscious sister and huffed exasperatingly.

"That'll be for now, Cytheria. You really need to learn how to take a hit one of these days." She said with a yawn. Not receiving any kind of response from Cytheria, Aerowen still continued on, seemingly unaware to her current condition. "Go clean yourself up, we'll pick this back up tomorrow." Aerowen jeered in an uninterested tone, before turning to stroll out of the arena, and leaving her sister there lying on the ground.

She'd get up eventually.

Regina, Saskatchewan

The night was a long one for many in the city. A tense quiet, a fragile peace hung over the city, and most everyone within could feel it. The world beyond the canadian walls was still a world of monsters and fiends, even with many daring to try and reestablish some form of society outside. Many of the horrors that lay in the American world had been repelled from entering back within thanks to the efforts of a small group of monster slayers that traveled the country, but there was only so much mere humans could do.

The earthquake that had rocked all of canada last year had only further augmented that uneasiness. Takes of an entire city vanishing into thin air in the aftermath had set many on edge and in fear. Loved ones had perished, and people were quick to blame it on supernatural powers, or pretend it never happened, whichever gave them the more comfort.

For one girl, the answer to what had happened was known only to her, and it was a secret she preferred to keep to herself. For the past year, she had tried to live a mostly normal life with her mother, even with the barrage of questions she and her mother's family had assaulted her with regarding the incident. They had only stopped when Molly had nearly broken down and begged them to stop pressing the issue. For in truth, how was she to tell them that two of her co-workers had been powerful demons that helped save the world from a god-like ninja being and the Lord of Decay? How was she to tell them, that she now held powers far beyond what any human could comprehend, that she could feel that something was about to happen somewhere in the world, something terrible and evil...

"You're not supposed to tell them."

Molly sat up in her bed, dressed only in her undergarments and looked around. The room was greyed out, and the small train clock was frozen in place, the hands stuck in position. Immediately, she knew what this was about, and who was causing this. "I know, Uriel. They'd freak out, but you don't have to remind me of that."

"Sometimes, I fear I have to." The angelic voice echoed around her, yet no source could be seen. "Even since I joined with you, I have felt your desires, your inner turmoil grow and want to tell someone, anyone. I can sympathize with that, but this is for your own safety, and those around you as well. There are those who would love to use such power, such forces to unleash calamity upon the world, and all too willing to target someone like you for knowledge and power."

"I know, but... not even Ubel or Demogorgon or Demiurge?"

The voice sighed. "No. Ubel no doubt has far bigger things to worry over in the realm of the Ninja than what goes on here, and the demon sisters despise angels. Demogorgon especially would rather kill me than said me, considering what I did to her eye."

Molly grumbled, wrapping her arms around her chest. It had only been after the Battle for the Heart of the Multiverse that Uriel had presented herself, at first a timid and weak angel wishing to help her. As time went on, the angel had gotten pushier and bolder, what fright now gone and once again with an air of authority.Still, to be this secretive... meant the demons that had been after her must still be searching for her.

She looked out the window as time once more flowed and color returned to the room. Where was Ubel or Demogorgon at this point? She had wanted to be with them... but nothing. Not even for her birthday...

The ninjas burst through the gray, brick ceiling of Zephyr's castle with an earth-shattering, "CHOOM!". Immediately upon touching down within the structure's walls, they were shrouded in complete darkness; only the soft glow from their eyes cast any light at all. The type of darkness that consumed the interior was a strange one, not like any that the ninjas had come in contact with before. It was almost, "inky" and thick in its blackness, as if it could reach out and choke you at any moment. Still, the trio advanced through it without fear, their eyes easily piercing through the fog of nonexistent color. The chipped, cracked, and molded walls that surrounded the ninjas were narrow and claustrophobic, forcing them to creep forward in a single file through the aging castle. They kept their eyes trained in every possible direction at all times; Zephyr could have been lying in wait, ready to strike at any moment. The makeup of the interior was not unlike that of an elaborate labyrinth, with several hallways leading to dead ends, and too many forks in the road to count. To make matters even more difficult, the news of Zephyr's swift deterioration meant that his energy signature was like finding a needle in a haystack. Even for a Prime like Dante, such a task was proving to be trickier than he'd previously thought.

Evron was growing more and more exasperated and impatient by the minute. "Dammit, where the hell is this ugly bastard? It's like a freaking maze in this dump." He groaned.

"Whining isn't gonna make this any easier, Evron." Daeva tried pointing out.

Evron sucked on his teeth. "I'm just saying, if we reach Zephyr and find that he's dead, I'm going to be pissed. The sickly old fool is probably clutching his still beating heart for all we know."

Dante remained silent, even with Evron's constant grumblings starting to grate on his nerves. He needed to keep his mind in tuned with the makeup of the castle, so that he could hopefully find the aging war lord through this mess. Dante himself was growing a little frustrated as they went on, but he couldn't let his emotions run rampant just because things were proving to be tedious more than anything.

"Hey, Dante... You find Zephyr's location yet?" Evron suddenly asked.

Dante sighed quietly through his nose. "No." He responded.

"Oh oh.... How bout now?" Evron asked again.

"Nooo ". Dante said again, a bit dryer now.

"Ah, I see........ What about now?" Evron asked a third time.

Dante whipped around and shot Evron an irritated glare, eyes now glowing brightly. "If you ask me that ONE more time, I swear I'm gonna take my sword and shove it up-"

"GUYS GUYS!" Daeva shouted telepathically, causing for her brothers to stop and face her. "I got a bead on Zephyr's signature! It's weak, but I think I know where he is, come on!" She said and sprinted off around the corner.

Dante and Evron stared after her, both baffled. They looked at one another for a moment, before rushing off after her through the inky darkness.

************************************************************************************************************************************************************************************

Within a hundred yards, Dante and Evron stopped on a dime as they found Daeva standing in front of a pair of enormous double doors, at least fifty feet high. Dante stepped up closer to the doors and shut his eyes.

"Yeah, he's in there alright." Dante muttered and reopened his eyes. He turned and looked back at Evron and Daeva. "You two ready?"

"Let's get this done so we can finally blow this pit and go home." Evron said dryly.

Daeva rolled her eyes. "We're ready." She said and shot Evron a look.

Dante turned back to the wooden doors and cautiously outstretched a hand towards them.

"COME, NINJAS, COME AND MEET YOUR FATES." A growling, yet choked voice suddenly boomed from the other side, shaking the entirety of the castle.

The ninjas looked at one another, before nodding, and Dante erupted through the doors. Wooden splinters were sent flying every which way, revealing quite an expansive, but fairly empty room. In the very middle was a tattered and stained red carpet, that led up a few marble steps, and finally stopped at the base of a throne built entirely from the bones of fallen Everettians. Slumped within this throne was the being of interest that the ninjas had come all this way for: Zephyr. He was considerably bigger than the ninjas, around fifteen feet in height, and packed with muscle the size of truck tires. He was navy blue in overall coloration, with black stripes running down his arms, legs, and horizontally across his broad chest. Zephyr's impressive wings were bright red, leathery, and torn in different places. In fact, the cruel being's entire physique was that of someone long past their time. His body was riddled with blood sucking cysts, his protruding fangs discolored and blunt. Zephyr's right eye was permanently shut from a nasty infection, his tri-formed horns that adorned his cranium were chipped and cracked, and his legs were nothing but sunken skin over bone. He seemed to be on some kind of life support, evident from the five thick tubes that were latched to his chest, and the large breathing apparatus behind his throne.

Suddenly, at least twenty gargoyle foot soldiers emerged from the shadows, rifles and plasma casters pointed at the ninjas.

"Daeva." Dante uttered calmly, eyeing the monsters.

"Already took care of it." She said nonchalantly, now standing at the foot of Zephyr's throne, and wiping Swift Redemption clean of blood. Seconds later, those same gargoyles collapsed to the ground in pools of thick blood, and a red sea of limbs.

Zephyr choked up a sadistic cackle, his chest violently pulsating after every breath. "Impressive, oh powerful warriors." He croaked, purple drool running down his maw.

"How the mighty have fallen." Evron taunted as the ninjas slowly approached the being. Dante took point, and pointed one of the jewels right at Zephyr's skinny neck.

"Your reign of tyranny is over, Zephyr; the Everettians are no longer your puppets to control." Dante stated firmly. "You've lost."

Zephyr merely chuckled at this, it was clear that he wasn't at all afraid of the godly beings that stood before him. He wasn't afraid of death. "Do what you please, ninja Prime. Do you actually believe that you will be looked at as some kind of hero for killing me?" Zephyr mocked.

Dante lowered his blade a bit and narrowed his eyes.

"You did, didn't you, little warrior? HA! Your so-called 'friends' out there may thank you for ending my reign, but DO NOT think for a SECOND that they truly see any of you as allies." The king gargoyle chortled, coughing up blood. "Your kind will never be anything more but the bane of the multiverse's existence; a thorn in the very balance of all that is, and will be."

Dante sneered. "Pretty big talk from a being that is about to meet his end." He shot back.

Zephyr smirked. "Pretty big talk from a being that knows the truth about your kind, the real truth. The one that everyone will soon know; it is only a matter of ti-"

A massive stream of red energy enveloped Zephyr's head, instantly melting it and his entire upper body down to burning ash, and eradicating his throne. All that was left of the fallen king, were his thin legs, melting away themselves. Zephyr's words had been cut for good. Dante and Daeva, both peered at Evron, wide eyed. The latter shook his left hand free of the bouts of steam that were rolling from it, and met their stares with the permanent cold glare from his visor.

"What? You were taking too long!" He shot.

Dante blinked in disbelief. "You don't just cut someone off while they're still talking!" He fired back.

"Uh, you do if that someone is a power hungry TYRANT. Besides, he was starting to piss me off! Pretentious, condescending bastard." Evron countered. "Daeva, please talk to your brother, I'm done with this place." Evron muttered dryly and shot through the roof of the castle.

"Wait! No, we are going to talk about this...Evron!!!" Dante screamed and took off after him.

"No, we're not! Get the hell away from me, you freak!" Evron shouted from afar.

Daeva stared after them and massaged the bridge of her nose; her temple pulsating. "Unbelievable." She muttered to herself, before blasting off towards them.

As the ninjas zipped higher into the sky, and through a portal that Evron created, the remaining Everettians below cheered, whooped, and howled in victory as the the castle of Zephyr collapsed. The ape-like beasts waved proudly at their allies' swift exit; they were forever in the ninjas' debt for what they did today. Whatever they needed, the Everettians would be there to support them by any means necessary.

They were friends, after all.

Regina
11:46 PM

It was as though Ubel never truly slept during the night. How could he when he was always out doing... Something. It could have been something as simple as watching the millions of shooting stars fly by for hours, or waiting for the sun to rise, or just thinking about... Nothing, nothing at all. As long as Ubel was doing something, he never slept, and that was starting to be a hindrance for him. The body needed sleep, and wouldn't function properly without it, ninja god or not. Tonight, Ubel merely took it upon himself to cruise over the city of Regina, staying far enough up in the sky to not be seen by any possible stargazers. The winds were mildy chilled tonight, and felt good on Ubel's bare face as he flew through the sky. He peered his head below, and gazed at the fascinating, twinkling city lights below. Humans sure loved their showmanship, that was certain. Ubel had been mystified by mankind ever since he arrived on Earth. They were a young species, but were incredibly resilient and brave. Despite some of the cruel acts that they committed on one another, Ubel never held it against them; every race had some kind of skeletons in the closet. Besides, the ninja saw goodness in humanity, and believed in them for that. Ubel didn't exactly know what it was yet, but he felt a sort of... Connection with the people of Earth, and that made him both ecstatic, and sorrowful as well. He knew that as much passion as he may have possessed towards mankind, that they would never feel the same towards him. Ubel loved his siblings and his kind dearly, but to nearly all of the races in the known multiverse, they were nothing more than agents of chaos and destruction. A cruel title to have for possibly the rest of one's days.

Ubel soon touched down atop a large building overlooking the central park, and sat down on the edge, taking in the sights and smells an Earth city. In his heart, Ubel knew that only one human truly accepted him, and his kind for that matter, for who they really were. The little things that Molly said and did when she first met Ubel had gone a long way with him. No one else had ever put any judgement nor stereotypes to the side, and just saw Ubel as, dare he say it... A person. In his eyes, Molly was a special case, and her kindness towards him and his siblings had earned the girl Ubel's fierce and undying loyalty to her. He had never told her this, but Ubel appreciated Molly's compassion more than she would ever realize. The big ninja looked down at the palms of his hands, and created a tiny white rose that sparkled ever so delicately within them. A soft smile formed across Ubel's lips as his violet eyes glowed warmly. After eyeing his work, Ubel gently closed his hands shut and crushed the rose into white cinders.

Perhaps, it was now time to show it.

It was a truly wonderous, spring night in the Realm of the Ninja. The sky, uninterrupted by any intrusive light, was filled with billions of twinkling stars, and glimmering galaxies. Comets raced across the scene, leaving their sparkling dust trails behind. Ryu, the moon of this realm, hovered above, its milky white light cascading across the land. The air was lukewarm, and crisp as always. The winds were slumbering, in their place being nothing but the peaceful silence of night. Within the kingdom itself, every soul was fast asleep, allowing for their dreams to sweep them away to whatever reality they pleased. The ninjas themselves had been pulled in by the gentle touch of slumber, all except one. Within the kingdom's ballroom palace: a hall the size of a football field, was Dante. He sat at the very end of the room in front of what was by all accounts, a piano, or at least the Yakuza version of one. The beautiful musical instrument was made entirely out of ceramic, creating a lovely mirror finish. The keys were solid gold with fine comet particles sprinkled intricately on the faces.

The hall itself was covered from head to toe in polished marble and diamonds. The ceiling hung fifty feet in the air, and was etched with various images of the Yakuza and the ninjas. Parrallel to Dante's right side, were twelve enormous windows at least thirty feet hight, and all lined with specially made ceramic and titanium composites. On a night like this, the moonlight pierced through said windows, and caused for the marble structure of the hall to seemingly glow. It was a gorgeous sight to behold. But there Dante was, sitting at the main piano, playing a lovely and serene melody that he learned long ago. He couldn't sleep at all tonight, as much as he tried; his mind wouldn't slow down to rest. Something deep down had been worrying Dante for over four months now, be he could never pinpoint what it was. The only thing he knew was that it scared him. He hadn't even told any of his siblings, nor Aphrodite about it, out of fear of them worrying. Usually, whenever Dante couldn't sleep, he would come in here and spend a few hours just playing. It was a great way to destress and let whatever tension that was built up be flushed away. All four ninjas could play instruments quite well, but their absolute favorite was the piano. There was something so simple, yet so elegant about it that just oozed personality and grace.

Dante's fingers swept past every single key, striking them with unmatched precision. The strokes were calm and collected, careful and timed. With every successful note, the piano hummed soundly, becoming an extension of Dante's own being. He closed his eyes and merely allowed his body to take control, the music transporting his mind to a place of calmness and serenity. It was place where no war existed, no death, and no chaos. Dante thought about his future with Aphrodite, and how they would one day embrace one another in holy matrimony. He saw his siblings being accepted for who they were, and living in happiness. In short, Dante saw peace, and of the eternal kind. As he was playing, a svelte figure watched from behind, a gentle smile laid on her face. The sweet music caressed her ear drums and covered her skin in goosebumps. Eventually, Dante struck the last note and rested his hands in his lap. Soon after, he heard soft clapping coming from behind.

"That was amazing, honey." The figure praised.

Dante didn't even have to turn around to see who it was. With a smile, he opened his eyes, rose from the piano, and turned to see Aphrodite approaching him. She was dressed in a white, silk night gown, and her silver hair gleamed proudly in the pale moonlight. The two beings wrapped their arms tightly around one another, and remained that way for what felt like an eternity. Finally, they broke away and Dante reached up and carassed Aphrodite's smooth chin.

"Thank you. I'm sorry sweetheart, did I wake you?" Dante asked.

Aphrodite shook her head, "No, when I was reaching out for you in bed, you weren't there. I figured I'd find you in here, though." She said, smiling.

Dante returned the expression, but his eyes revealed how exhausted and stressed he really was. Aphrodite's smile slowly faded as she quickly took note of this.

"But I know that you also come in here whenever you can't sleep. Is everything okay, honey?" She asked with concern.

Dante didn't answer right away. He didn't want to lie to Aphrodite, especially when seeing how worried she had now become. With hesitation, Dante slowy shook his head and embraced Aphrodite, nestling his head in her bossom. Something inside of him had finally made Dante become vulnerable, and he broke down. It was akin to that of a child crying out for help. Aphrodite rubbed her fingers through Dante's hair, while massaging his back. She knew what it was like to feel powerless and scared, and for the love of her life to be feeling this way, one of the most powerful beings in existence... It worried her dearly.

"Everytime I close my eyes, I just see nothing but death and tragedy. I feel this... darkness brewing, and I try so hard to push it away... But I can't...I just can't." Dante sobbed. "How can I be a good leader to our people, a good brother to my siblings, and a good man to you... If I can't even control my own mind?"

Aphrodite took Dante's face in her hands and stared into his eyes, wiping the tears away. "I know what it is like to feel hopeless and scared, Dante, like you can't do anything to stop what is coming. But I also know how strong, compassionate, and dedicated you are, my love." Aphrodite reassured. "You inspire me to be a better person every single day, and all of those around you. As far as I'm concerned? You are the kindest and most humble being that I know, and are the best man that a girl could ever ask for."

Dante took Aphrodite's hands in his, squeezing them tightly. "I don't know what I would ever do without you in my life. You inspire me to be a better person everyday too." Dante said warmly. "I love you, so much Aphrodite."

The goddess smiled sweetly, "I love you too, Dante... Always and forever." She mused.

Dante pulled her closer to him. "Forever and always." He affirmed, and locked lips with her. Aphrodite clenched his chest and pulled him closer to her body. Their lips danced in perfect unison and harmony, and their forms seemingly became one in the cool glow from the moonlight.

True love is phrase that is tossed around with haste and distreatment. Love comes and goes all of the time in life, and a lot of times, ends in heartbreak. However, when it came to Dante and Aphrodite, the love that they shared with one another was truly unbreakable and ever growing in its power. It was a love that would remain, even when their physical bodies did not. It was here to stay, and that was a beautiful thing.
