We've made it just outside of London. Road's torn up, though. If we can find a radio station, hopefully we can connect to America, Germany, Russia, whatnot. There's myself and this man. We might be caught. Might. Frankly, I can't be bothered to let this opportunity pass.
Can't get anything on the radio. Must've evacuated.

I haven't written for a full day, I'm sorry. Been at church, been listening to the radio, been packing up a little. Cleaning my Garand, my double barrel, my .45. Working on the truck. Making sure we're ready to get the Hell out of Dodge when they're at our door. They've got a ways to go, but it won't be long before they're here.

News isn't good. They're spreading in every direction from their damn craters. Atlanta's burning again, as is most of northern Georgia. Heard that some are already in South Carolina, Tennessee - Hell, there's some unconfirmed reports of people seeing them in this state, in the mountains. Texas is just as bad. Houston's gone. They don't think anyone got out. Anyone. Heard tell of some weird poison gas, like thick black smoke. Pushing into Louisiana, too.

Army's evacuating Austin and San Antonio as I write - they're slowing the squids down with non-stop shelling. Ain't hurting the things worth a damn, because they've got some sort of invisible armor around them, but it's slowed them down enough to get all those people out. Goddamn Martians are putting General Sherman to shame, how much they've wrecked the South.

Washington's still talking about the draft, about nukes. No one can figure out how to deal with these things. News from the rest of the world pretty bad too. London's holding out, but nearly everywhere else in Britain's fucked over hard. Not heard much from Russia, but what little news that gets out ain't great. Infantry, armor, artillery, just getting wiped out by the division.

Church didn't help much either. Pastor Nathan's convinced that this is Armageddon. Spent a good while preaching up a storm, all about Revelation. Preached about Star Wormwood, about locusts from the abyss. Preached about how we have been left behind because we weren't good enough, and that we must suffer because of it. Wouldn't listen to anyone who pointed out any holes in his reading. Most of us left after a while. Heard later that his nephew was a gunner on one of those Peacemakers over Houston. He could never have children, but he loved his nephew like he was his own. Must have driven him a little crazy.

Radio's said that there are Tripods in NC for sure, over in Franklin and Cherokee. Won't be long now.
