70s Godzilla vs Godzilla DAM

Post by Breakdown »

Don't let the title fool you, this isn't an actual match-up. The question I put fourth is that, since we know Destroy All Monsters is intended to be the "finale" of the Showa continuity, shouldn't we be using the "1999" Godzilla from DAM rather than the "70s" Godzilla? Based on continuity, DAM Godzilla would in theory be the be-all-end-all of the Showa Godzilla as a fighter rather than just the 1970s version. This is canonically Showa Godzilla at his most experienced, having the combined knowledge of all his previous battles. The lack of his crazier powers or other feats not being on-screen can simply be explained as him not needing to use them in the battle against Ghidorah. He had an entire army of ally kaiju behind him, so there was no need for magnetism, flight, or excessive amounts of strength, etc. Similar to how in Godzilla 1985, Godzilla did not use a Nuclear Pulse simply because there was no need for it unlike against Biollante. So in closure, should we instead be using the DAM Godzilla as the "End game" Showa Godzilla rather than the one in the 70s films?

No. DAM Godzilla not fighting like his 70s self is easily explained by him being out of practice. He hadn't fought anything for 20+ years at that point. He was in his prime in the 70s.
