Shin Godzilla Home Video Release

Post by Mastergodzilla »

Do any of you know? Maybe it will be released around the time that the first attack on Titan was released. I want to know because I plan to have a Godzillathon November 3rd. Probably will not be out that soon, but a guy can hope, right?

No word yet on a dvd.

One things for sure though, we won't see one here until it's released in Japan.
If we get it by early next year I'll be pretty surprised honestly.

I may be wrong on this, but if I remember right ShinGoji is already the fastest Godzilla to arrive in America. Radness is right, no word on a DVD yet though.

Hopefully it won't take as long as Attack on Titan did (first film arrives Oct 6). Sion Sono's Love & Peace is in desperate need of a release too.

I think the reason for the delays with AoT was that Toho insisted on waiting a while after the Japanese home video release because American Blu-rays are compatible with Japanese hardware and didn't want Japanese fans importing cheaper American Blu-rays.

I'm pretty sure Toho will have their BD/DVD out early next year, in comparison to G14. As far as FUNimation, sometime after that. :)

I'm honestly just as excited to watch this film a second time in the comfort of my own home as i am to see it in theaters in a month. Cant wait for the bluray/digital to come out, man.

I expect the U.S. DVD/BD to be released about a year after the Japanese DVD/BD, just as with Attack on Titan.

Buy a Japanese version. They usually have subtitles. They come out sooner. You sometimes need an all region player, but not always.
CD JAPAN carries all of that. I've been ordering from them since the 90s

Does Japan do Digital HD with their movies? If so, do they include subs on those?

Yes, Funimation will be releasing it on home video.

I'm sure it'll be realised on DVD in the most spiritual way possible: By being possessed by all the pissed off soldiers from WWII.

This is one of my favorite comments on this board in a LONG time. :D

Also, sorry to go off topic, but it just hit me that after Kaneko and Higuchi collaborated with one another on Gamera, one went on to make a Godzilla movie that was in large part about the importance of remembering the role of Japan WW2, while the other went on to make a Godzilla movie that was in large part about moving on from defining Japan by its role in WW2.

Funimation just said on Twitter that news on the home video release will be coming relatively soon.

Is it on DVD in Japan yet? If not, when will it be?
