Could Shin be the most award-winning Godzilla/Kaiju film...?

Also, yeah, rest in peace Legendary. One Toho movie beat G'14 in an innumerable amount of ways.

Meh, I still think G14 is just as good as G16.

Still, nice to see a Goji film getting awards and recognition.

Shin Godzilla is a political commentary film using a giant monster as the plot device for putting a spotlight on the government practices and global politics, just like Gojira was.

Legendary's movie was a giant monster movie really, it had some themes in it, but it wasn't written to be a real condemnation or commentary on things like Shin Godzilla, and that's what's being recognized most in the awards, or at least one's it should get. I don't know much about Japanese cinema and what else it's competing with, but these seem like gifts to even nominate these.

Actress in a Supporting Role - Ishihara Satomi - Not horrible, but certainly not award worthy.

Actress in a Supporting Role - Ichikawa Mikako - Didn't really think she did anything to warrant award.

Music - Sagisu Shiro - With so many recycled cues between his own work and Ifukube, I suppose he could be awarded for the overall mix but sure others have come up with wholly original scores worthy of recognition.

Sound Recording/Mixing - Nakamura Jun, Yamada Haru - The use of old SFX sort of makes me disagree with this, the sound was nostalgic and fun, but not good.

It just nominated, the awards are in March.

Hopefully it wins all the awards, especially best film and soundtrack. Sagisu's tracks should be used in the LPG series. Taba Strategy, Black Angels, Under a Burning Sky, Defeat is No Option.Who Will Know, and Persecution of the Masses are works of art. The rest of the soundtrack is awesome, but the tracks I listed are the best.

Persecution should've been used multiple times. It gives off an apocalyptic feel. Maybe the scene where 4th form walked through Tokyo at night should've been extended and have Persecution play during it. Or maybe he could woke up early, before Yashori Operation was ready and have that play. Have him randomly shoot his rays too.
