I like Hausu. Its a great combination of Horror & comedy and yes it does feel like an acid trip but I enjoyed it. It is soooooooo insane and has plenty of cool effects and the music was great.

Just a few clips from...whatever you wanna call this. LSD trip would be a good way of describing it.
WHAT THE SHREEONK???

Now I REALLY wanna see this movie!

While the katakana would be pronounced "hausu" in Japanese, the name of the movie is HOUSE. Toho made that pretty clear on the Japanese theatrical poster:

HAUSU seems to be a way to distinguish the film from the TV show HOUSE, but I think it's VERY obvious from the context which is which.

^ I love that movie. HOUSE II is terrible, but the first one is a fun flick

I'll gladly eat crow if it doesn't turn out that way....but at this point it feels painfully obvious, as it has for months.

Exactly. There wouldn't be a thread about the non-Toho HOUSEs in a section devoted to Toho's Showa films.

I actually find myself having to use the title HAUSU from time to time. A lot of my friends are big horror fans, and they're familiar with both the Toho and New World films, and it's the only way I can differentiate them from each other. I can't say "80's House", because that's not specific enough either.

Not much too begin with :P It's slowly deteriorated over the years..

EDIT: Misread you're question. This movie looks like it had absolutely no budget. It looks more like an amateur film if anything else..

Because House makes too much sense. It needs to stop.

Was there...something in the water in Japan back in those days? :D

Wow. This one just made it onto my short list. I loved the alienation effect bit during the piano scene with the spfx alternating between effective and hilariously awful...

I personally loved House, it's really one of the most unique film experiences I ever had. I also did a review for it 3 days ago: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JI2c1jqC ... r_embedded
