Yeah, I never said Godzy could legitimately fight any dinosaur, just that such a scale looked better to me.

Rear up and try to clumsily kick with its front legs? Even without his atomic breath, Godzilla could tear these things apart all day.

As for the size comparison, I agree that 50 meters is about the right size for Godzilla. I like to see kaiju interacting with the environment, using cover and so on. Any larger than 50 meters and it becomes impractical to do that.

I recall Toho stating that increasing Godzilla's size during the Heisei years was getting out of hand, so they reduced him back down to 50 meters for the Millennium series; one of the reasons being that the downscaling of the miniature sets was reducing the details in the work and therefore resulting in unrealistic sets (but I cannot verify the source at the moment). That, to me, sounds legit enough.
Besides, Godzilla has contended with far larger Kaiju throughout his career; King Ghidorah, for example, was larger than Godzilla in every encounter by 40 something percent.

Despite not being one of my favorite suits, I still like it quite a bit and it's grown more and more on me over the years. From side profiles, it looks *great*, but from the front, it suffers a bit (same goes for the G2k suit). It also started many trends for other suits of the showa era that followed, such as the single, refined row of large dorsal fins, 3 toes, and lack of ears, making it an important suit in the showa era....
