I think Anguirus could take down monsters like Baragon and Gorosaurus

Just because Angilas didn't draw blood from King Ghidora by jumping against his body doesn't necessarily mean did didn't hurt him. I don't think anyone should be expecting the SFX crew to throw blood all over the Ghidora suit in order to illustrate how badly he'd been hurt.

Why not? They did so in GvsMG plenty of times.

Touche. Still, different movies, different circumstances. Godzilla bleeding in GvsMG was meant to show what sort of a powerful badass Mechagodzilla was. The same thing wasn't needed at the end of Gigan. Godzilla and Angilas has practically won the battle by that point. Showing a bleeding, weak King Ghidora writhing on the floor after being slammed by Angilas seems pointless to me.

Anguirus didn't run into Gigan's saw belly on purpose. It looked like Gigan was trying to block him from helping Godzilla (who was getting blasted). It doesn't really matter if Anguirus is strong anway. Personality is what matters most when creating a monster, and Anguirus has lots of that.

Most people watch these movies for monster fights, not if the monster has personality, it takes dedicated fans to appreciate that, but power does matter in some cases.

Valor and foolishness are rarely mutually exclusive. Being brave often requires one to choose the less logical and safer option in favor of something, well... stupid.

Like I said, Anguirus isn't bright, but he has heart.

Sorry if I sounded that way. I'm not the most articulate of people. I never remember fast forwarding as a kid. Waiting for Godzilla to show up made his appearance even cooler.

No harm done, just a little misunderstanding on my part, but I was an impatient little child and when I watched Godzilla I wanted to see Godzilla, but later on when I would pop in Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla I started to appreciate the film much more.

Godzilla actually delivers the final blow, which is stepping on his neck until blood spurts out (ala stock footage from DAM).

James23873 wrote:They would probably be more effective against someone like Rodan, Mothra, Gorosaurus, etc...

Rodan fell on Anguirus in DAM and just kind of rolled off, although he was knocked out at the time. At any rate, Rodan has one of the thickest hides in the Showa series, oddly enough. He was able to shrug off both Godzilla and King Ghidorah's beam weapons.

In terms of the others listed, we may never know.

Yeah Rodan doesn't get enough credit sometimes, he can really taking a beating, both Anguirus and Rodan are very valuable allies to Godzilla

^Rodan can take a beating but if we're going to be serious, then Anguirus' strengths lie in his boldness and a seemingly very high threshold for pain. Whereas Rodan is a bit craftier and more tactical, he's cowered from King Ghidorah's gravity beams and retreated behind a rock formation; Anguirus withdrew from battle only after his jaw was broken and blood gushed forth. That hardiness is second only to Godzilla himself in my opinion.

Rodan is tactical as you say. He did everything in his power to avoid them in his first encounter with King Ghidorah. He aired on the side of caution, not knowing the affect the beams might have against him.

By Invasion of Astro-Monster, though, he proved that he was more than capable of not only withstanding the beams but even that he was willing to be struck again and again to distract the monster long enough for Godzilla to attack.

That depends on how one perceives the SDF attack in Gigan where Anguirus eventually retreats.

Anguirus' bravery seems to stem from loyalty. I have no doubt that if Godzilla were present, Anguirus would fight to the death. By himself, it seems that Anguirus is more prone to retreat if the situation seems beyond his skills.

Agreed, he is very very very loyal to Godzilla, and it seems like he feels braver in his company. As long as Godzilla is around Anguirus is a huge threat

The guy has heart, sure. I mean, anyone risking getting buzzsawed in the face to help a friend that is getting beam spammed to death gets a hero title in my book. But strong? Well, while strength isn't everything, Anguirus surely needed it in certain situations.
