You might be thinking about G vs Megalon. I don't remember any red gems or similar objects in G vs Gigan. However, you do see one of the characters find a red object on the floor in G vs Megalon.
Kaiju are just like people- giant, radioactive people.

Megalon went into a bar and saw Gigan. Megalon said, " Again? I thought you gave this up."
" What can I say," Gigan asked. " I'm hooked."

When Ghidorah and Gigan are first summoned/released, they somehow come from exploding gems in space.
Tokyo, a smoldering memorial to the unknown, an unknown which at this very moment still prevails and could at any time lash out with its terrible destruction anywhere else in the world.

Kung-Fu Girlfriend & Hippie Chick are kind of hot...I mean cool...
but everyone else is a dweeb...including the aliens & Ghidorah.

Angurius & Gigan are the real stars of this show.

Agreed. This has one of the best human casts in the franchise, I think. I found everything about this movie entertaining and awesome. Definitely one of my favorites.

I fully agree.

One thing that I always forget about this film, is Kabuto and the alien leader, even though it’s a big plotpoint. Every time I watch it I’m always creeped out with the implication that the aliens stole the dead bodies and the roaches are merely wearing their skin. Either way, the moment you find out the main dude should be dead Feels right out of a horror film.
Then, everything changed when the Giant Condor became the Giant Eagle.

Yeah, there's definitely a horror element to this movie. Conceptually it really hits when we find out Sudo and Kabuto should be dead, and stylistically of course it really lands with the reveal of their cockroach shadows.
