I was just thinking that after seeing Godzilla vs. Heorah for the first time in years (early 1990's VHS). I always wondered why in Godzilla vs. Gigan, that Godzilla's eyes looked like they were shut most of the time. Tuth be told, this was just the 1968 DAM suit being used to the point of literally falling apart. But when I rewatched the scene where Hedorah shoots burning sludge into one of Godzilla's eyes, this made sense. One could say that Godzilla was still recovering from his battle with Hedorah almost a year later when he fought Gigan & King Ghidora.

Toho reworked the head of the costume after Hedora because it was so messed up. Props for trying to find an in-universe explanation, but I doubt that was Toho's intent.

As bad as the Shoshingeki Goji looks on screen by the time GIGAN rolled around, I have to say, I preferred the squintty eyes to the enormous playful ones he had in HEDORAH. Don't get me wrong though, that Godzilla was one tough mutha! (I too sometimes like to think that HEDORAH is a film in it's own little universe)

Kick ass. Guess Banno was pretty smart. And it just shows Hedorah is even more awesome.

Get your ass out of the strictly Toho sections and read some things from real life.

Godzilla vs. Hedorah "skreeonk you!"

Postby Tamura » Wed Dec 22, 2010 9:02 pm

I remember reading years ago that, in Hedorah's international dub, during the scene where the kids throw torches at Hedorah, you can hear a "skreeonk you!" buried in the soundtrack. Is this true?

I actually heard this from member Mistystuffer at this years G-Fest, and have yet to check it out. I have a feeling the line just simply sounds a lot like what people are implying, because you would think something like that wouldn't slip...then I remember that this was one of the dubs recorded in Hong Kong..so who the hell knows. They're so wacky, that I wouldn't be all that surprised if it was actually in there.

Ha, wrong again. It's clearly heard along with 'Eat me' in the jumbled maddness of voice actors throwing matches at Hedorah.

57:49 according to VLC Player, 57:40 according to my PS3. Just watch scene where they're throwing the torches.

Oh haha, that was great.

Speaking of unusually profane content in Godzilla films, my dad and I were watching the uncut Megalon today and he told me to rewind back to the scene in the truck with the nudie pinups. He told me he recognized the bust of the girl on the left from a 1973 issue of Playboy.

What's unfortunate is that most people have never seen that scene in English, since it only exists in the uncut International version. It's funny as he'll too because their is a second "I reckon" line in that scene (with THREE in the entire movie). Also Ted Thomas (Who voiced Mr. Kubota in GIGAN) is also the voice of the guy on the radio.

Gotta love the convo between the twos guys in the truck too-"Well the way I see it, we're getting 100,000 yen! Hahaha" MEGALON has one of the funniest dubs for any movie ever, hands down.

STORY OF RICKY had a pretty damn hilarious dub, too.

My dad and I are going to try and identify the playmate in Megalon for all you pervs out there.

Another anniversary? July is a big month for kaiju. It's been quite a few years since I've seen Godzilla vs Hedorah, so maybe I'll try to pick up the DVD or something. I've been wanting to watch it again, anyway.
