It's not so much the song as the song having to go into its 4th or 5th chorus before the giant yip-dog wakes up.

I adore the King Seesar song. I used to sing along with it as a kid. ("What does he know, LAAAAAADY")

Other Seesar memories... When I was three, I referred to him as "Three-Bean Seesaw." Around that age, I went to Iceland for the first time, because I have family there. I saw this sculpture at Keflavik airport, and somehow decided that it represented Three-Bean Seesaw hatching from an egg. I guess I assumed it was his ear poking out? I'm not sure why, as it would make a lot more sense for it to be Gigan, but there you go.

Even though a lot of folks make fun of this character, honestly I like King Caesar. The fight scene between him and Mechagodzilla I thought was really cool, even though King Caesar gets beaten up, I also like how was able to reflect Mechagodzilla eye lasers. Along with Titanosaurus, King Caesar is definitely one my favorite monsters in the Showa series.

How did the Xillians controll King Caesar in GFW? The Xillians reconfigured the monster's DNA, but King Caesar doesn't have any DNA! He's a rock! A golem! How did they do it?

I didn't really like the Millinnium KC at all
Show was the best!!!!
I just wish I could've seen him "wake up other monsters" as it says he could.

I'm all for it being all the other monster, though it would be cool to see him awaken some ancient ones as well.

Pretty sure that's only mentioned in the dub.

The subtitles on the DVD are dubtitles too.

As I understand it, the International dubs are basically exact translations of the Japanese script, correct? So this isn't one of those weird things added in dubbing to make dialogue sync, it was a part of the original story. Helps add legitimacy to King Caesars unused power, I suppose.

from subtitles that I have wrote:Tell our agent...
...to steal the statue of King Seesar as soon as possible.
Now that they've solved the puzzle of the statue, they can wake the monster at any time.

We'll be in trouble if King Seesar brings other monsters to life.

While that's true most of the time, some Japanese speakers (one from this site) have commented that the international dubs are "pretty accurate, but not 100%", or something along those lines. It doesn't help that some of Toho's subtitled prints feature an amalgam of dubtitles/accurately subs. This was confirmed by kpa, when he mentioned on another site that the "dubtitles" on the Sony DVD for TOKYO S.O.S. are the exact same ones from Toho's subbed print.

That shot of Kuronuma saying that particular line is a long/medium shot (sorry for not knowing which it is specifically), and I don't even know that you can really see his mouth moving in the scene.

I do have a copy of the R2 with the Tokyo Monsters subs by Jim Ballard, so maybe I could see what those say, and check back.

Nope, never liked King Caeser. Concept is interesting, but I just can't get past his ugly look, I'm sorry. Probably my least favorite monster.
