New MST box set features documentary of Joseph E Levine

Post by Gawdziller »

Got the latest Mystery Science Theater 3000 box set and on the Hercules disc there's a documentary on film producer Joseph E Levine, who we might know and love as the man who introduced Godzilla to the United States.

Well...it's kind of less of a documentary and more of a brief career summary. Godzilla actually does take up a good portion of the seven minute runtime, as they talk the purchasing of Gojira and the filming of scenes of Raymond Burr for the King of the Monsters release.

This might not be a huge event worth taking note of but I thought it was neat that they put together this small celebration of the man that sparked the US fanbase of kaiju films.

Volume 32. Episodes featured are Space Travelers, Hercules, Radar Secret Service, and San Francisco International.

So far it's only available through Shout's website but it will be in stores next month.

I sure wish they'd just get MST3K on Blu-Ray already.

Sorry for the big bump, but I didn't notice this feature until now. I still need to get this set, but it puts it above some others for me because of this now.

None have HD masters except the movie. There is no way to put them on Blu.

No, and if I didn't value my eyesight so much, I'd bleach my eyes so I never had to see that shit again.[/quote]
