Why didn't Godzilla ask for help in Godzilla vs Gigan

Rewatched the film recently and something popped into my head. Why didn't Godzilla ask the other monsters on monster island for help? Anguirus couldn't have been the only one who would have given him a hand. Mothra or Rodan maybe would have helped as well.

Because 3 or 4 heros against 2 villians wouldn't have been fair.

^ They did that with Ghidorah 31 years later and it took a while.... until they kinda ripped him to shreds. But that was because Gororsaurus got him on the ground. Other than that, the fight would have been a good 15-20 minutes longer

Well Godzilla is really proud and even kind of arrogant sometimes. Maybe he was that way to a less notciable extent in Showa?

Monsters controlled by wires were expensive, and the '70s was all about cutting costs. It's amazing how they got away with King Ghidorah, though.

If you want an in-universe explanation, maybe not all the monsters were rounded up to Monster Island at the time. Godzy and Angy were the only two within proximity, so only they could do it. It makes sense considering that Monster Island was new at the time.

I think it's because the other kaiju were busy at the time. Mothra had an egg to care for, Rodan was spring cleaning his cave, and Gorosaurus was giving tours of Mondo Island to visitors. Of course, Godzilla never asked Varan. He never does despite Varan having so much free time on his hands.

I agree 21st Century Boy. Monster Island in GvM only had Godzilla Rodan and Anguirus. They only added Rodan after 1 year. DAM takes place 30 years later!

There is a lot of mysteries with Godzilla. Like why is Rodan monster 2 when Anguirus is the second monster after Godzilla. Rodan appeared in 1956 so why isn't he monster 3.

Anyway to answer your question, Godzilla is simply king and will show the other monsters that he needs no stinking badge when he enters Tokyo.

It's been awhile since I've seen it, but I remember Anguirus being forced back by the military without completely "discovering" what was going on, so Godzilla just decided to to and take care of whatever it was with Anguirus. I think by the time Godzilla figured it out-he was being beat up on and that was his clue.

But I think the explosions and horrific cries he probably heard miles away from actually reaching Tokyo should have given him at least a small hint as to what was going down in the Japanese town.

Short Answer - Budget

Long Answer - Mothra would have been little help in her caterpillar form and by adding Rodan even with Ghidorah and Gigan they would have been over-whelmed.

Godzilla and Rodan took on Ghidorah without Anguirus before... Rodan probably could have distracted Gigan long enough for Godzilla and Anguirus to take care of Ghidorah and then it'd be a 3 on 1 battle. Not even the tower could help because Rodan could just fly around and knock it over.

But they gangbanged Ghidorah in DAM. Maybe Goji felt he needed to make up for not showing as much balls in that 11 on 1 fight.

What's with so many threads these days that ask for in-universe explanations for things that can't actually exist? Why didn't Godzilla ask for more help? Because that wasn't in the script. Period.

"King of the Monsters" is more of an honorary title than an official rank, kind of like a Kentucky colonel. He can't just command the other monsters to help him fight aliens.

Out of Universe: Budget, Script deteriorating suit.

In universe: It could be several things, maybe Godzilla only felt Gigan or Ghidorah, maybe Godzilla was confident at that point he could handle Ghidorah and another monster with just Angurius. Another Angurius had given Godzilla a good fight in 55 so a Angurius Godzilla team up at that point should have almost been as good as a Godzilla Rodan team up.

Most likely is that at that point Godzilla was confident he could or Angurius could defeat Gigan and the other would have no problem stalling if not out right defeating King Ghidorah.

As much as I love Godzilla vs Gigan I still to this day think Rodan should have been added or Ghidorah substituted.

Ghidorah was popular, though. As we know, Toho always has to give the popular monster a place, even if it is second billing to a new one.

The likely reason Rodan wasn't in it was because of the suit's condition. After DAM, Rodan doesn't make any more appearances in the Showa series aside from stock footage clips.
