He was cool, I guess. Didn't really do much, but added a bit more kaiju action to the film which was definitely needed.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
Don't really care for him, since he just came out of nowhere and is never mentioned.

The condor wasn't that interesting, though the bird did liven up the scene.

Giant Condor. A scene so random it will make you high. This was one of the only kaiju that left me with something. And something is pure randomness.

Another very offensive racial stereotype from Toho.
I used to be a lot more optimistic and outgoing, believe it or not. I used to actually be passionate about this stuff.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
I thought he was a pretty cool monster and proof that the Red Bamboo aslo mutated other creatures. I would have liked him fighting Kong rather than Godzilla considering one ray equals KO.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
I thought he was actually hilarious. His fight with Godzilla was almost Hedorah-level crazy camera cuts, and he just comes out of nowhere and isnt spoken of for the rest of the movie. Hes random, insane, and pretty cool if you ask me.

For what he is, yeah, I like the Giant Condor. As unlikely as it is, I wouldn't mind seeing him make another appearance in a future G movie, maybe in a role similar to Kamoeba in Tokyo S.O.S. or even a minor side opponent, like the Super X-II in Godzilla vs Biollante. He'd also make for some good fodder during a Destroy All Monsters-style battle royale.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
He's okay. I would say he's a pretty cool monster, but he's never around. He gets, what, 30 seconds of screen time? That's just not enough for me to judge a monster by.

He was just as threatening, if not more so, than the giant prawn featured in that film.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
Im not going to lie, I really wish Toho would do more with him.
If anythign it would be more like a nerfed version of Rodan thats pretty much death fodder. The thing is with a good redesign and maybe a size change he could pass off as a scene fight, that is if it has 2-3 others with it.

I like him. He added to the (fittingly) King Kong/adventure feel the film had, except the fight scene had the worst choreography in any Toho fantasy film to date.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
The condor would have been a great opponent for Kong. That fight would have been longer and more brutal. Though, I don't see the condor coming back. It's too obscure a kaiju.

Re: Anyone like the Giant Condor?
That would be awesome! I love Ookondru... He reminds me of those giant animal movies Harryhausen used to do (Mysterious Island!!). Something about Kaiju that the JSDF can go toe to toe with appeals to me.

I agree.Cimmerian Dragon wrote:Mediocrity is fairly original in the Kaiju genre. We always see these nigh-indestructible, god-like beasts battling each other to a standstill, waiting for some deus ex machina weakness to be revealed and make victory for one side possible. The giant condor is a cool creature simply because he is not that powerful, but exists somewhere between the "normal animal" and the "kaiju" threat levels. Ebirah is sort of like this as well, not a lightweight, but not really a match for the average Toho monster. I'd like to see a flock of these guys attack Godzilla, and cause him grief thanks to sheer numbers and maneuverability.

Or have these kaiju around an island, where they keep away from more powerful kaiju, and then a band of G-force/graspers soliders become stranded their.Cimmerian Dragon wrote:Mediocrity is fairly original in the Kaiju genre. I'm with yall. A flock of Ookondru would be cool. Maybe that wouldn't even be a bad idea for a "minor" monster in the LP Godzilla movie.
