How would you improve the Showa Era?

I love the goofy face, it totally stands for the showa films and how they were directed at a younger audience.

For both Kong costumes, have the actor's real eyes exposed akin the the Gargantuas.

Now that I think about it, I don't mind the GtTHM Rodan as much as the DAM Rodan. That one was UGLY. He looked more like a melted Muppet than the other Rodans.

Son Of Godzilla : Never film that airplane opening scene from the original Japanese version in the first place. Aside from having nothing to do with the rest of the plot...

It has everything to do with the plot. It reveals early on that something is driving Godzilla towards Solgell Island.

Gojira, masterpiece, dont f with it.
Godzilla Raids Again, bigger longer fight scene, less of the love story
Rodan, again masterpiece
Mothra, see above
Varan, I havent actually seen this movie so I have no frame of reference
Mothra, Mothras Mothra, guess there isnt much to say about it
King Kong VS Godzilla, MORE FIGHTING but still an enjoyable flick
Mothra VS Godzilla, it is what it is cant really make it suck but it has nothing to improve on
Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster, longer fight scene
Frankenstein Conquers The World, I say its ok but it did spawn War Of The Gargantuas
Atragon, havent seen it
King Kong Escapes, stupid movie should have been King Kong VS Mecha Kong
War Of The Gargantuas, AWESOME FLICK hands down, omit the first 2:45 seconds of that f-ing song
Invasion Of The Astro Monster, no improvement needed
Godzilla VS The Sea Monster, I could make a thousand jokes but Joel Crow and Tom Servo took care of it for me
Son Of Godzilla, no Minilla, hell just re-do everything
Destroy All Monsters, MORE MONSTER BATTLES
Godzillas Revenge, go away, forever. REVENGE OF THE STOCK FOOTAGE!
Godzilla VS Hedorah, Godzilla could have done a little more than just wave his arms but as far as dark goes this flick has a level of darkness unseen since the first 2. YES i consider Godzilla Raids Again to be dark
Godzilla VS Gigan, corn eating hippie aside and the Ghidorah that sounded like there was a plane in his ass, its a good movie
Godzilla VS Megalon, this has the drop kick so as ANNOYING as this movie is, that kid should have gotten sucked into the whirl pool but those 30 seconds of Godzilla defying gravity make it all worth it
Godzilla VS Mechagodzilla, shorten the King Ceasar song to 30 seconds and then you got a 5 star flick
Terror Of Mechagodzilla, should have been something else

More Varan, more baragon, more titanosaurus, replace jet jaguar with zone fighter, get rid of gabara, change minya's design, create the 74 costume in 72, dont change the 64 head, always use 56 rodan design, more maguma, less 67 suit.

Raids again, in my opinion, is quite dark, just not as dark as the original. Hedorah is not as dark as it is more of a horror flick. The weirdness of it makes it scare you into recycling at every chance you get. If Banno had the chance to make it for adults and make Godzilla much more menacing, I think it would be just downright horror.

If Terror of MechaGodzilla was a better film, I think the Showa Era might have run on a little longer than it did. Honestly, its all over the map and it really could have used more Godzilla. It must have been jarring to kids who went to see it in theaters. After three films aimed directly at them, Terror comes out of nowhere with a haunting soundtrack and a story filled with depression and betrayal.

If Terror of MechaGodzilla was a better film, I think the Showa Era might have run on a little longer than it did. Honestly, its all over the map and it really could have used more Godzilla. It must have been jarring to kids who went to see it in theaters. After three films aimed directly at them, Terror comes out of nowhere with a haunting soundtrack and a story filled with depression and betrayal.

The films were in steady box office decline for a long time by the time Terror came out. If TOM was more of a DAM style movie or maybe had a different monster line up it may have done a little better at the box office.

Destroy all Monsters should have had more fight scenes with Varan, Baragon, Manda, and Kumonga. Change Godzilla's Revenge to another DAM film, possibly. Frankly I would've love to see Toho films like Godzilla vs Baragon, Ghidorah vs Magnum, Anguirus vs Titanosaurus etc. Not sure how those would be done though.

- Less stock footage

- Have the Heisei series keep the continuity of the Showa series

- More effort in preserving the kaiju suits for future exibition

The whole appeal of these monsters is that they're outlandish. I can't picture either of being designed in a more down to earth and still being popular.

Ok I think that if everything here happened, Godzilla would be completely different, and I would hate that. The only thing I think is fine is less stock footage, but I don't mind stock footage anyway. Everything you just listed is what MADE the Showa series and created one of the greatest movie franchises in the world (it was listed in TIME magazine, but I forget which year) Basically, there would be no telling what would happen to the series as a whole!

see, i do and don't agree with this.

on one hand, the Showa series is so great because it is what it is. on the other hand, it certainly had its fair share of flaws. now, if you try to fix those issues, you make more problems as you solve seemingly irrelevant ones.

this is as true a case of the old adage "if it ain't broke" if i have ever seen one.
