That's Orochi, not a Ghidorah. (Not counting GMK). He's pretty different from the Ghidorahs too, eight heads, four legs, no wings, one tail, brown scales, mane of spikes, nasal horns...

Ghidorah's never been under mind control - he just ran out of shit to smash, so he asked for some recommendations from friendly neighborhood aliens.

That was funny in my head...

With King Ghidorah's three heads twisting about the way that they did in the Showa series, maybe it is a sign of mental weakness, akin to the Transformers G1 version of Devastator, being so slow and cumbersome due to all of his components having to agree on what action to take.

Maybe such a weak point helps the aliens to mind control Ghidorah more successfully than most other monsters?

Failing that, they are aliens with typically advanced technology when compared to Earth's, so controlling giant sentient monsters may be no big deal. I'm thinking of how the Xillians were so easily able to subjugate Godzilla and Rodan, and how the Killaks(sp?) were able to control monsters as well as humans.

I rather like this interpretation of King Ghidorah. I think alot of fans see him as being psychotic and evil, but this vision of him is considerably more interesting IMO even if it's less blatantly badass.

His mental weakness could be part of reason BEHIND his psychosis.

I don't see why people see him as sadistic and psychotic. He never shows it in his battles, or at all. He's just a space thug.

He goes around the universe committing planetary genocide. That's pretty straight up crazy.

And Ghidorah jumping up and down on Anguirus in DAM. King Ghidorah is stomping a monster whose back is armored as well as spiked, until you hear the sound of bones cracking. Seems a bit crazy for a creature to do that with its bare feet.
Or seeing the ground covered in foes, and instead of merely strafing them with its gravity lightning, the monster plummets to the ground to do battle, giving up is aerial superiority.

And futilely trying to bite Godzilla's leg with its last remaining strength.

OH MAN KING GHIDORAH IS SO FRIGGIN' COOL.

That roar does sound like some kind of eerie laugh. I missed it when I saw the Heisei version of King Ghidorah and was glad when they incorporated the Showa roar into the pre-cyborg version of King Ghidorah and gave Mecha King Ghidorah the roar of the Heisei version in Destroy All Monsters Melee.
Other than that, I think Showa Ghidora also has a short and raspy hiss-like roar in Godzilla vs Gigan.

They never said why, though.

I always thought of him as a Galactus character.

If someone could get a more accurate translation of this weird little couple of sentences from JP-Wikipedia;

"Reason or purpose, including why Venus, Earth and other planets came to more or doing destructive activity is unknown until now. However, the "intention of the human Venus" is the last prayer of King Ghidorah in hellfire of Venus was called."

That'd be great.

As far as I can tell, the second sentence (しかし、「金星人の意思」は最後の祈りの中でキングギドラを金星の業火と呼んでいた。) says something like King Ghidorah was called "the Hellfire of Venus" (金星の業火) in the Venusians' "final prayer" (最後の祈り), which was called "The Purpose of the Venusians" (「金星人の意思」)?? I'm no expert, though.

The fact that KG much like Gigan, can travel in space means he is more likely to bump into civilizations with the technology to mind control. I think if Godzilla or other monsters could actually travel in space they would have had the same issues. It's not really KG's fault

My best explanation for this is that King Ghidorah obviously isn't powerful because of his intelligence in fact his intelligence is where he is lacking thus making it sort of easy for an advanced alien race to take control of him.

That's just the kind of thug you'd want attacking/invading Earth. They're not smart enough to realize they're being used, but they have the muscle to destroy the humans in your way.

This very much. Godzilla and Rodan have been controlled in Monster Zero and DAM, imagine how much more often it would have happened if they could travel between planets.
